Also just too add, look at some of the games coming up in 2016. 'Uncharted 4' and 'The division' both look really good. The witcher 3 was one of my top games recently though if you like that sort of thing.

No worries mate. Yeah a prussik will make life a little harder, it's doable but a pain. Like Mark said a fig8 is a good cheep option or if don't feel confident on that then you can always look at pulleys systems or mechanical devices but if I were you I would stick with the prussik until you are confident to use other bits of kit.

Great way to unwind, that is if I'm not getting daggers from the misses 😉. Some bloody good games out there now too. Come a long way from the nes I had as a kid.

Got a bit lost here, but maybe it's because I've had a couple. But imagine this image below as your climbing line around the trunk, you could effectively use a carabiner instead of the bowline to make things a bit quicker (I find). In the second pick you get the idea, without the extra loop around the trunk. Then your friction device below attached to your harness. And if this is what your on about then yes you can descend on it in and emergency or not. If I'm choking down a big stem all day and need a brake in between I set this up and get down and it's all set up to get back up quickly without walking back up on spikes. Ahh fair enough. Now I know. On a different note, are you not allowed to sell say a 'flat bed full' of logs? If so what is the difference in that compared to a meter cubed bag of logs?

Lol so what do jewsons sell their rubble and sand in. Surely if someone asks for a m3 bag of logs they know what to expect. But big, med or small can be any size. If the act doesn't cover firewood then surely it wouldn't cover any materials, maybe try and sell under a different name (dry bits of tree in triangular form). Sound like someone has to much time on there hands.

You can always wrap you main line around the trunk and clip it back to itself with a crab. But to be honest I've had spikes slip before and never once fallen far. You may get a bit of a grazed chin though.

Just found this on the gov. Website. It seems I would be exempt as I would not be hitting the 7.5t mark and I wouldn't be travelling more than 100km of my yard. These are a list of exemptions and we fall under the top one I would say. Hope this sheds some light on things for people. It is to do with the fact that we are not carrying goods and just tools to work with. Also because we are not driving as the main part of our job is a factor.

What kind of exemptions are we talking about? And what exactly are the tacho laws. I had a feeling you needed one if you were supplying a product I.e delivering logs. I have worked for a few companies and only one of them used techo's, but they were using 7.5 tonners. I am aware this sounds bad on my part but it is not something that had ever occurred to me. So in Layman terms could anyone explain what warrants a tacho? And how people bypass them or if there is really any need to other than cost. Thanks again.

Ahh I don't think I'll be getting in to the techograph region. I will only be towing a chipper (1.3t give or take) and am going to be bloody carful not to get stung for carrying to much.

I'm sure there is something on here already but can't find exactly what I'm looking for... Been looking in to payloads of vehicles and as a first wagon I was going to go for the cheep and cheerful transit. Not a great payload but looking at others vehicles not much difference (all around the 1t mark give or take a couple of hundred kg), that is once the kit, people and chip box are on. Now what I was wondering is if any of you helpful lot have any pictures of what a ton of chip looks like (hopefully it's not at dreadful as I imagine). Obviously I know different species = different weight, just looking for an average idea. Also if you are towing does that have an impact on the payload or is that kept separate? I have a B+E so was thinking of plus 750kg. Thanks for any help in advance people...

I just hand wash mine once every couple of months. Big ass bucked outside. Had the ear bashing way to many times, gave up on the washing machine a while back. Let's be fair best not to argue with the better half if you can help it, rarely win.

Not a bad point I've heard of lots of new chippers having issues. At least if I get one with a few hours on the clock I know it's been run in and hasn't rattled itself to pieces.

I would but it's taken a long time to get the cash together, don't fancy another 2 years saving and I am looking to set up my business in the spring. Don't fancy finance either as I know money isn't likely to roll in quick in the first year or two so don't fancy the worry of debt.

Been looking for a chipper around the 7-10k mark, and have come across a couple of decent looking refurbished chippers on e-arborist. They don't have the hours on the clock (guessing because that gets wiped). My question is to what level are these chippers refurbished usually? And are they maybe something to avoid? Don't want to throw 10k and a bag of spanners and regret it. Anybody got any input or anyone got a refurb, any issues? Thanks in advance people..😊

Had a woman who was late for the train station and drove through the idiot tape and knocked a cone over, the groundy was telling her to stop, but she still drove around him, branch mist her buy 5 feet. She stopped then and proceeded to scream at us because she was going to miss her train. When someone said something along the lines of "id rather miss a train than die" she took her shoe off and through it at him, then drove over the branch on the floor tarring her rear bumper off. Everyone in hysterics including most the member of public who saw the whole thing. I have grown to expect everyone to ignore the signs nowadays and be as vigilant as possible because as funny as some of there plonkers are when they start ranting and raving it would be a whole different story if things when wrong.

I couldn't agree more. It really grinds my gears when idiots build like this with out giving a dam about nature. Still people don't care when they're getting paid I guess 😡
