  1. That's a good point. Would be nice to see trees and buildings being planted and made to work with each other. I just think so many big construction companies come in and take out trees with out even thinking twice about it. Just nice to see people considering the nature around them and trying to work with it. Even if what they are doing may not be the best for the tree health at least they have paused for the thought. But I do agree with the point that it would be nice to see the tree planted in the building and acclimatising to its surroundings.
  2. I see what your saying and agree, however if they are going to build on plots where trees are anyway it's nice to see them give trees the chance. In some of the cases the building will be easily changed if the tree does die or it will not matter. On a different note I would hate to be the bloke who had to take the dead tree down that was growing through or around a building :-/.
  3. Have to say I love the one through the wall, nice to see people thinking in a different way :-).
  4. Yes Steve very true. A great app and always in your pocket when needed ;-)
  5. http://www.trees.org.uk/publications/Guides/Fungi-on-Trees-An-Arborists-Field-Guide This is a pretty handy book, not massively in-depth but a good one to have. If you would like something with more information something like this might be relevant to your needs, a bit expensive though. https://wordery.com/fungal-strategies-of-wood-decay-in-trees-w-linnard-9783642631337?currency=GBP&gtrck=SG52Rnp0dHB2UVNZeEQ3NSt4UUhkbVl0UDF6eXpIZmR2MkhmbWpYK0FhamFGSlFhOHNaeU5la21JTEkvUStzL3ZIWjdLdGF0STNmUkF5V1FWR2FGaEE9PQ&gclid=CJ7dt5ibickCFQQTwwod9_QHTQ Hope this helps
  6. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p012czgd Hear you go mate
  7. There are some great ones on bbc radio 4 on all sorts of tree stuff, I'll see if I can fine the link
  8. A lot can be said for reputation I reckon. If you are a reputable company chances are people will sway your way. As for the quoting like many have said don't run before you can walk, work for a company (even a few) see how they do things. If you go out and decide to do your own quotes without any experience you will no doubt loose out either putting in a low quote and then realise you have bitten off more than you can chew or go I to high and never get a job. The whole quoting thing is how long is a piece of string. Best advice would be to work with a few groups and get a feel for the industry and how things are done. I've been in the game 7 years and still get the odd quote wrong (usually with those dam conifers). By the time you can get every quote spot on you will be ready for that comfy armchair and the newspaper crosswords in the retirement home.
  9. Just thought I'd through a few more photos in there I finally got hold of. It may back up some ideas or make the situation worse. Would be good if some of the people who previously commented had ideas. Thanks people
  10. I guess couscous is out of the question then haha
  11. Not a bad shout, pumpkin season is in to. Will give it a shot
  12. Ahh not a fan unfortunately, but thanks for the input.
  13. I do like a tuna mayo, with peppers and cucumber but am starting to find sandwiches a bit repetitive. Been trying to do pastas and salads. Anyone got any other ideas to mix up the lunch time monotony?
  14. There is a fantastic one in savernach forest couldn't really get a pic of the full scale of it due to the other trees around but here is a couple
  15. Haha that's a blast for the past. Great sketch.
  16. Thanks for the help guys, I think sorbus sargentiana is probably right. I wasn't doubting anyone just wanted to be sure. The fact the stem holding the leaflets was red through me and the fact my picture has been taken half way through its change was a tad confusing. I will try and check for berries. Here is another pic. Thanks again people...
  17. My Mrs has the same habit, through stuff in any which way, really does my head in to the point I have to rearrange it haha. But your right can't change people, but you can learn to live with them.
  18. Ahh I see. I didn't really think about it. Just saw some that had welded alli and assumed I would have to learn yet another skill to add to the long list us arborists seem to have haha. Not doing it for a while as its money and time but just good to know how to go about things and be prepared. Thanks for the help mate
  19. Can anyone give me a reason as to why it is not a Tetradium daniellii? It the closest thing I could find but its not a species I have come across before. Thanks for the help
  20. Are you sure. I'm still confused about this one. It does look similar but still not 100% on it.
  21. Nice work, how is working with Ally, I hear welding ally can be a proper pain. Any tips and any advice on where to source the ally planks from. Looking at doing something similar. Thanks
  22. Yeah looks similar but is not it. The leaf formation isn't the same at the end. Thanks people keep trying, we'll get this one
  23. If it is I haven't seen one like it before, it's a rare thing whatever it is.
  24. Hi there no not a Rhus typhina :-/
