  1. Exactly chaps! Someone is making money off it. Just wish I could avert my eyes.... anyway I’ll get some snaps of the heinous crimes that have been committed locally tomorrow!
  2. It’s been hammered before Mick. Guess the owner wants to retain it no matter the cost!
  3. I should add the overall shape is ok. And once it comes into leaf (next year) it’ll hide the worst of it. It’s winter time that there is no escape for your eyes from it!
  4. This is one of several beautiful pieces of work done near my house. I’m presented with similar sights in pretty much any direction I go in!
  5. I’ll be keeping a close eye on this thread as I’m interested in this too.
  6. That’s what I was thinking too Mick!
  7. No it’s my original. And anyway, the second one is a closely guarded secret (that everyone knows about 😆)
  8. Nice day for it today. Before the snow, sleet, hail, rain etc turned up.
  9. It’s another divisive topic I suppose. I’ve only ran my most recent saws on Aspen from day one and had no issues at all. My old reliable 555 has had two stroke and Aspen whacked through it at varying times and has never missed a beat either.
  10. Just ordered mate, thanks for the heads up 👍🏻
  11. I’ve got a few pairs of the Solidur Infinity trousers. Very impressed. First pair has survived nearly two years of forestry but on their way out now. They have absolutely massive vents on the back of them which is excellent. They’re tough on the ankle areas and knees etc and have gaitors that can be removed too. Only gripe is the colour choice. You can have any colour you like, as long as it’s red! Got first pair from Treekit I think, second pair from Chris Forestry.
  12. Rob how are you set for the Oregon tools for breaking and making chains? The ones you bolt to a bench.
  13. Nice to see the portfolio growing Steve! 👍🏻
  14. Bit of silliness from yesterday. Music won't be everyone's choice so be warned!
  15. Seems a shame after all that effort to mount it on a couple of workmate bench’s. But I guess it’s a fusion of old and new 😉😆
  16. Sounds like a job for the Logbullet! Shame I’m not even remotely close 🤦🏽
  17. Buying and selling secondhand stuff is a minefield anywhere these days. I’ve got a shipping container for sale at the moment, up on gumtree, farcebook marketplace and on here too. It’s up for £1500 + vat. I’ve had someone offer me “£900, no messing about” gee thanks, that’s half price if you include the vat, it’s a deal bellend! 🖕🏼
  18. Where is the piss boiling emoji! 🤬🤬🤬🤬
  19. Yes, on a healthy day rate thankfully. It’s hard to step back sometimes and accept that things aren’t always done in what you perceive is the best, correct or most efficient way. Not everyone looks at the job the same, the contractor and the customer are always going to see it differently I feel. It’s the contractors job to advise as best as they can, but ultimately it’s the customers decision what happens to their property/land/woodland. I can come away from this job knowing I did the best I could, and offered the best advice I could to ensure the customers needs were met. Unfortunately their expectations are different from the outcome, but they aren’t foresters so hardly surprising.
  20. My customer these last few days is causing me a few headaches. Wealthy family, dad must be in his 80’s and still appears to be the holder of the purse strings. Clearly been an active and involved fella on his land but now not capable. Son who is in his 40’s is an absolutely lovely chap but has no idea what he wants doing with his woods. They’ve had me hoovering up and sorting out some windblow that’s been down for 4 years. Some decent sized larch mainly. But the spec changes almost hourly 🤦🏼‍♂️ First I was to process and extract windblow. Next they decided they wanted some for milling (!) so I had to grade off (!) the best stuff for that, the rest they’ll keep as firewood. Then they wanted “a wagon load” of saw logs to sell?! From where, I have no idea! I have had to start felling some heavily leaning Larch just to try and make up a wagon load for them to recoup some money. It’s ran on from one day initially (they thought I could do it in a day obviously) to three days now, and I’m being paid to fell these Larch to make up a wagon load to ultimately reduce the cost of me being there..... it’s backwards! But I’ve been honest, told them my thoughts and at the end of the day, I’m doing what they ask. Sometimes you can’t win. Or you can win. Or maybe it was a draw..... 🧐
  21. I had a look at mine, it’s the same as yours. I didn’t give it a second thought to be honest 🙈🤔
  22. Speak to John about remaps for Valtra, he has a good contact who’d happily travel to you as it’s not that far.
  23. Looks decent! Steel ramps are a regret of mine, well my back regrets my heads decision anyway! 😂🤦🏼‍♂️
  24. Evening all. After another day on the machine wearing my Peltor ear defenders, I’m now starting to put some effort into finding some comfier ones to wear. I currently have Peltors as mentioned, and have added my Sena 10S comm kit to it. Unfortunately the headband on the actual defenders digs into my bonce a fair amount just above my ears. So I’m After recommendations for comfy ear defenders please. Ideally I’d like to move my Sena kit over to the new pair, but I’m happy to look at options that might have the Bluetooth and some quality speakers built in all ready. I need to be able to chat on the phone too so a mic is necessary also. Please note these are just for use when I’m operating the Logbullet. Ive been eying up the isotunes offering but they don’t ship until 21st April. Thanks in advance for any top tips.
