  1. Increasing cord length does not always increase productivity, for every additional inch of cord pulled out you loose 1000rpm off the engine speed so lower gearbox speed and increased engine temperature.
  2. 598934703 is the update air filter and elbow same as the 550mk 11 with screw top not the 562.
  3. Used engine oil is bad shit, if that is what is in there as has been said drain out and rinse the tanks out, used to see a lot of this, refused to work on some until it was drained and cleaned.
  4. Hope you are using the correct guard and supporting bracket to support the tube that end, the problem with high power and trimmer cord is friction welding of the cord in the trimmer head resulting in constant cord breakage, we used to call the mulch blade death on a stick.
  5. I was always crap at technical drawing.
  6. You should have one or two wires coming from the generator dependent of which one you have, if you cannot find the wires then they have broken off, so you need to remove the flywheel to assess what has happened, the 240 is old school so has a steel woodruff key, so as long as you do not loose the key the timing will be easily reset, the live wire from the generator goes to one side of the top handle. The green question mark is a protective sleeve around the HT lead so nothing to do with the wiring
  7. It’s a long time since I worked on these, however from memory there was a conjoined double wire from the ignition unit, one to the unit, the other under one of the units fixing screws, then up to the toggle switch ( can’t remember it being on the right? ) one wire to the switch terminal the other had an eye which was retained under the switch securing nut, this to create an earth due to the tank being isolated by the av rubbers, this wire has a jump wire over to the earth side of the heater switch, the wire from the hot side of the switch runs to one side of the rear handle heater pad, a barrel nut takes the power over to the other side heater pad, from here a wire runs to the under side of the top handle, through the heater element and returns under the tank to the generator, as said, with a multi meter you must have a continuity from the hot side of the switch through to the generator, sorry a bit long winded but that is how I remember it, over and out.

    jonsered 625

The 625 was a solid saw, if it’s a tidy machine it’s well worth spending some money on it.

Boot part no. 503611301, some available on the bay, no longer available from Husqvarna.

    jonsered 625

The clip for the boot ie a rectangular band with screw and captive nut, similar to the 372 but rectangular.

If this is the later saw with single piece ignition unit then check the flywheel key, it will be the moulded type.
  12. I guess these are the Husqvarna intercom ear muffs, sorry but haven’t any idea as I have never seen them, I know the boom mic is an option.
  13. Black smoke would suggest it’s rich, possible blocked air filter, has the engine been excessively tipped up? Is there oil in the filter? Carb flooding, I believe it has an internally vented carb, so leakage sends fuel into the engine via the inlet valve,
  14. Is there really a market for those old saws, if so how much can you sell them for knowing when they go wrong parts are going to be few and far between, on top of that they are heavy, vibrate, low power and cutting speed.
  15. Looks like it was designed by NASA, who on earth thought that was a good idea? Completely over top top

    Stihl recall

This is why the Husqvarna K770 oil guard is by far the best power cutter in the market, put neat fuel/diesel/paraffine/wrong oil, and it goes into limp mode, so no damage to the cylinders or bearings, compensator carb that works, and large paper filter, if not tampered with will run until it becomes completely blocked un touched, and never let dust through, the filter can weigh up to three times its original weight and still function normally, i could go on but i guess this all falls on Stoney ground.

    Stihl recall

Exploding flywheels are something to be seriously worried about.

No sir, I had ABBA on 8 track in my 850 mini with go faster stripe and reverse cone megaphone on the exhaust, I was well bad.

    Old husky

Started with the 180s with points ignition, then 280s then 380 cd( capacitor discharge ) and 380k power cutter, followed by the 480cd and 480k, there were many changes over the years but the cylinder and piston never changed, interestingly enough the cylinder was also used on the 77 which was the 65 with the 80 cylinder, if the saw vibrates quit bad I would charge the six av mounts as the rubber will deteriorate over time, if the front ones break it will break the oil hose at the front.
  23. Don’t throw it away, we love a challenge, I can collect it and let you know what is wrong with it if you like.
  24. Afraid not, there also appears to be two different part numbers dependant on age.
  25. Silica bore cylinder and chrome ring, the ring peg is in the centre of the ring groove so the ring gap is normally quite large, the biggest problem I saw was the base gasket blowing out, he may not have seen this if he just whipped the cylinder off, just rebuild with new gaskets and she will probably run.
