I didn’t like to mention it.

    550xp woes

Mk1 or mk2 ? I have seen a fair amount of flywheel side oil seals on the mk2, and 560 mk2, when plugged into cst you need to look at and understand the jet settings, more so than the fault codes.
  3. There is very little difference between these saws, I believe there is some difference in the ignition unit set up, it’s really a marketing thing, some run .325 chain and some 3/8 low profile.
  4. Wish you had, look a right tit now.
  5. Bugger another senior moment.
  6. I accept completely what you Steve, however these machines are ignition governed to 9800/10000 rpm, when they lean off the ignition goes into over drive, free running they will spit and pop, and even shoot flames from the muffler, the 410 also has a type of centrifugal air cleaning, there is a fan on the back of the flywheel, the incoming air to the carb comes via an aperture and rubber grommet behind the flywheel, it then takes a torturous route through galleries in the side of the fuel tank, this can also fill with crap and cause issues. If the compensator in the carb is part blocked for any reason the machine will start to run lean as there is no vent hole in the metering cover, with the filter and cover off it will better allow the compensator to work, anyway I feel this may well be the issue with this machine, over and out.
  7. I still think it’s to do with the compensator carb, I haven’t done many 410s, but I know if the compensator is blocked on the Husqvarna this is very much the way they react, the back firing is because it’s starts to run lean.
  8. It’s running too lean sir, check out some of the post on here regarding issues like this and all the reasons and fixes to cure it.
  9. I think he has seen the light and purchased a Husqvarna K770 oil guard.
  10. Be aware harder av mounts mean more vibration to the operator.
  11. There is a choke on it, however unlike the old system, lift choke lever, pull till it fires, lower choke lever pull till it runs, its now lift choke lever , just pull till it runs.
  12. It would be interesting to see the metering diaphragm, if this has hardened it will lose convolution so will not function properly against the metering lever, I still think it would be good just to richen the H screw just to see if they then pick up, then strip the carb to investigate why they have leaned off.
  13. So it’s the early HDA Walbro carb,
  14. They are just running too lean for some reason, there is no problem richening them up on the H screw a little, it’s leaning them off which is the danger area, seems strange they have leaned off, however on the 254 turn the H screw ( the one furthest away from the cylinder) 10 minutes on a clock face and try again.
  15. Bloody hell in stock!
  16. Another thought, it will have a compensator carb, is the hose blocked or trapped, if so this will weaken the mixture causing it to run lean, a lean mixture will bring the governor in too early.
  17. Not sure if this helps but a power cutters have some way of governing the engine speed, this to control the wheel speed, the Husqvarna has an ignition governor, I guess the Stihl also has a governor like this, they will be set at 9800 to 10000rpm, when the engine hits the ignition governor they do back fire and even spit flames from the muffler, if something has gone wrong with the ignition this may be the issue with it coming in too early, just a thought.
  18. Behave, yes it was 45cc with dished piston, we cant all be a virile young chap like yourself Steve.
  19. There was a cylinder variant for the later saw without the deco valve, and a low compression variant for the elderly Chinese market.
  20. Yes you can.
  21. I did not comment any further as I thought it best to just let it go, and not get into a heated argument, if I upset you in some way I apologise, maybe I am just a little too compassionate about chainsaws, especially Husqvarna, I have worked for Husqvarna for 44 years, service work, technical training for dealers, associated with Lantra and nptc instructors and verifiers, I am a Briggs and Stratton master technician, I with colleagues have visited operators who have been involved with one of our products, I hope goes some way to answering your question.
  22. Forgot the inlet boot, and the impulse pipe, blocked fuel filter, blocked screen in the carb.
  23. It probably is a mk2 however the last mk1 did have this, it was done to increase surface tension and eliminate the nasty flat spot a number of them had.
  24. Send me your e mail address and i will send you a parts list and shop manual for it, the carb will be a Walbro at that age, most common leakage will be at the drive side seal, it is pressed into the bearing and can be replaced, try to avoid the Chinese cylinders, if the cylinder is not too bad hone it out with a flex hone and use a genuine piston. Sorry i do not get involved in porting.
  25. Well said that man.
