  1. Should of said, " you have tried the cowboys, now try the Indians", R Patell & sons.
  2. I got told off a mate he saw a van a van with the slogan "you have tried the cowboys, now try the Indians
  3. The guy is gonna need to pull a trailer if doing tree work though really so that would be a good thing with a landy. Mines TD5 engine, bomb proof engine, and pulls well. Landys are better off road than hi lux, I've had to to hi lux out of the mud on a couple of occasions as to light on rear end. If your 6 ft tall then a hi lux is just as cramped, I drove one last week and it was as uncomfortable as a defender single cab. As you say its husky/Stihl with landy/jap so each to there own. The breakdown cover thing is a bit of a myth too.
  4. But defenders have a heavier towing capacity.
  5. I run a Defender 130 crew cab and it awesome, perfect for my needs.
  6. That's who I got mine off, very knowledgable guy.
  7. I've never had any probs with my dyneema in 7 years of use, I pulled all sorts over with it, winched things up and down, used it for all sorts and its fine. I have not shock loaded it though, if used properly and looked it will last ages and won't rust. Each to thir own.
  8. Its a nut on there, and as tree quip says put some loctite on.
  9. You. We'd to inform your insurance company, well I did and they do need to know. Some people have an auxiliary battery to power the winch too. Check out super winch, I have one and its awesome, pulls big trees no probs. get it wireless remote and dyneema bow rope instead of wire cable.
  10. Torque it up to correct torque and then check after a few hours use. See what happens.
  11. If they are rude at the quoting stage what they gonna be like at the paying stage?? I have had it a couple of times, first time I was polite and just basically told the guy what he wanted was a waste of time and money and he calmed down and listened but the other customer who was just plain rude got told where to stick there tree:)
  12. Awesome! I want one.
  13. Hi Will, tell us more about the tree scene in Oregon, do you do lots of felling like in Ax men or are you more Arb work? That PNW has always had a mystical look to me, the rugged coast and huge trees are amazing. I always wanted to go to Portland when I was in the US on one of my Skateboarding trips back in the 90's. If you have any cool pics of your work get them up please.

If its a 2011 346 xpg I will have it.
  15. Second that, top company.
  16. Audi Q5 mate, family needs room and we are gonna try for another soon:-) I've hunted all over for the right spec and eventually found it, its 3 years old but mint, I couldn't afford a new one at £40k.
  17. I saw that article in FBT, great tractor but they need to be working. I bought mine in 2007 and had a lot of work for it to start with, then when the recession came the work wasn't there for it so I sold it, sham as I really could use it now. Mine had solid front wheels and weights on the back, also rears were water filled and had weights made for front so it didn't wheelie with the chipper on. JP Beaver near let had her over when lifting lumps of beech at the side with the boom out, soft ground too, the look on his face when he thought it was going over, Ha,Ha.
  18. Cool, tractor porn on a Monday night!!
  19. That's the beast, that's why I bought one coz I was blown awY how awesome that was. That crane looks a beast too. I think he went to Oz but didn't work out so he came back. Thanks for sharing the pics Stevie, did you sell it?
  20. Tru dat! I had one and it sapped loads of cash and broke down loads, it was amazing and a nightmare at the same time. We went to the south of France on holiday in it and it turned a 7 day trip into a 21 day adventure.
  21. Well that's life, that's like saying you wanna go fill your trolly at Asda but don't want to pay what it costs. Bit of a poor attitude towards log sellers really.
  22. Cheers Jon, happy New Year when it comes mate:-)
  23. Make money so you can buy more toys mate:-) I'm off till Monday and picking up my new car on Thursday, had a call out today though, Connie on a shed, got it boshed in an hour and home:-)
  24. He was called Pete yes, he didn't move to Oz though, he is still in Kendal mate. That was an awesome tractor. That's a few years ago wasn't it Stevie?
