  1. Watch the home oak doesn’t take over, it spreads like wild fire over here
  2. How close is the copy @Pete B ? I ask as we will soon need a set of blades sharpened for a copy (we needed the tracks) and wondered if a greenmech dealer could do them? It’s no great problem if not just easier to deal with someone that has a clue what your talking about 👍 Our local place looked confused when I said they also have a angle ground on the back side 🤦‍♂️
  3. You would need to submit an application to your local (to the tree) planning authority. You will need to provide evidence (probably a tree survey by a Suitably qualified person) that the tree is causing structural damage
  4. How wide is the Jo Beau? I thought the Predators were the narrowest on the market, I’m possibly out of date tho.
  5. Don’t discredit the Predator machines. They are narrower than most others and go deeper than the bandit and up beau if I remember rightly, not sure about the others. The service back up for us has been second to none from predator, they would have to seriously drop the ball for us to move to another brand.
  6. Goodyear wrangler duratrac are a cracking at tyre and better than bfg on tarmac and in the sticky stuff
  7. The Greenmech (or other brand drum style) will wipe the floor with the Timberwolf as long as it’s kept sharp. Gravity fed drum chippers like the cs100 are great chippers, gravity fed disk chippers like the Timberwolf are crap in comparison to use, but will get you there in the end. Both types will not cope with soil and roots or old fencing etc with nails in (that might be obvious but I’ve seen some random stuff put in chippers).
  8. We used to have a bonser forklift the clutch used to stick on quite regular if it was left. We used to drive it slowly into the straw heap, the clutch would pop off as soon as it struggled to push the heap!
  9. Where are you? A location may well get you some local recommendations. quoting from pictures is a mugs game, almost everyone any good will want to come and have a look before giving a quote.
  10. leave your fone in your pocket while working! Arborventure training in the newforest might not be to far away for any training you decide on. There a cracking bunch and come highly recommended Arbor Venture Training Arboriculture Courses and Assessments ARBORVENTURE.CO.UK
  11. I’ve used one, for about a hour from a picker basket. I reckon it’s about to same as a 201 cutting speed wise. As a bonus it’s got a 3/8p chain which compared to the small battery saws is easy to sharpen.
  12. Firewood has been described as “selling the unprofitable to the ungrateful” that said if you get decent arb arisings for free you can earn from it. If you start buying in timber you need big quantities to make it worth the investment in timber and kit.
  13. It will re grow don’t panic, there is a good chance it will want good pruning work And a reshape in a few years time. however I would try a decent (read different) company next time, asking here or local recommendations should help with that. unless you asked for it to be topped as cheap as possible (as to reduced nicely) in which case you got exactly that and the contractor did as requested, however A decent contractor would normally try to educate the tree owner as to the better option. A decent reduction shouldn’t have had a big cost difference.
  14. You mean vesp has moved house? 🤯
  15. Must be there is no deep tap root 🤦‍♂️ it must be vesp back again no one else can be so daft, oh dear we need help!
  16. Try it with the lid off the fuel tank. We had a forklift once doing much the same, turned out the tank breather was blocked and it was creating a vacuum in the tank sucking the fuel back as soon as it was stopped.
  17. Check it’s getting power to the heater plugs as a start
  18. Yes, your old rigging line will be fine. It’s like climbing, the less bounce in the rope the easier/more efficient it is. I’ve only used hydraulic capstan winches and a grcs so happy to be wrong but they work on the same principle.
  19. That will run the rtec 250amp inverter mig/arc flat out no bother. Flat out on arc you will blow holes in 10mm plate if you try 😂 equally turned down in can weld 1.2mm body work with it.
  20. Rtec inverter welders are good. The 250 amp Will do every thing you have mentioned, in mig or arc mode. The current one here is over 5 yr old a working like the day it was new. just to add consumable and service parts service is excellent from rtec as well 👍
  21. Silky by Hand Saws WWW.GUSTHARTS.COM Browse our Silky range of Hand Saws Silky Archives | Honey Brothers HONEYBROS.COM Silky from Honey Brothers. The largest equipment specialist in the tree care industry. always good service from both of these guys and they don’t charge extra postage to the island like frjones do. i prefer the Gomtaro over the zubat but nowt wrong with either
  22. Remember a new silky will always want to draw blood, give them respect
  23. I never take the quick fill nozzles off the stihl can, I break one spout a year on average but I’m on my second can in 10 years (the first got run over 🤦‍♂️) the other cans I’ve used but never thought they were as good as the Stihl one
  24. With regards to quoting the pops. With any big job just break it down - the first 3 trees will take me a day, next 2 is a day and so on. Any job that goes over a week give your self an extra day to sharpen and clear up. also with a big job look at your local bigger set ups with bigger kit like timber trailer/loader and contracting them in, they can make you more than they cost or they at least will save your back and get you on to the next job sooner. Also pops can shatter when you smash the tops out so allow good time to clear up. the rest of your question has been covered, slow down and set some “opening” hours and try to stick to them.
  25. I wouldn’t get more than a few days in it, wood be a complete waste of money
