  1. Hi, so like me, you also believe that the tide is out at the moment. I'm not up to speed enough on the subject of radiation to be able to discuss the properties of one form from the other but the ongoing under reporting of the Japanese disaster which some say is already thousands of time worse than Chernobyl is possibly a crime in itself. I can't see that it will ever be possible to move the radioactive material at all.... many of these elements never before existed so what effect will their lack of containment will have on nature ?.. who can say. cheers
  2. Regardless of whatever side of this argument any individual takes there's one uncomfortable fact that's just never mentioned bearing in mind that no-one denies that the planet goes through cycles of heat and cold. We know that the ice will melt to some degree at some point...therefore the fuse to the end of most life on this planet has been set and the blue touch paper lit. There are currently 450 ish nuclear power stations globally, most at sea level....The sea level rise models being banded about at the moment will see most of them submerged...plutonium has a half life of 241000 years ! Not to mention Fukushima.... { as our media isn't } .... It may already be an unfolding global extinction level event .... and yet probably not as important as the brexit pish. Just my take on it
  3. Yeah, it's not like that all the time but power outages fairly often if there's a big storm then I recon they patch it all together as best they can until they sort it properly.....Got this from a Mira pdf.. cheers. *Note: The standard voltage for electricity supply in the UK is now 230V +10% -6% (253V to 216V). As the previous standard voltage of 240V +6% effectively falls within this band, there is likely to be no significant change in existing supplies for some years.
  4. Often we get the opposite.. the lecky shower barely gets hot, the lowest I've measured is 208 V
  5. + 1 for that... But it's there....lightly etch the surface and find an sign writer { art student } to copy over...might look better with a bit of a polish first....just an option, cheers
  6. 44:29 .......you've got to be taking the piss......I remember that episode ?
  7. I see that John Haynes passed away last week.....the end of an era ?

    Great pictures, thanks.......
  9. That must be the wee battery....the AP300 is 1.7 kg and the saw's 2.9 ..so 4.6 without oil.....so it's not exactly light, I did a lime re- pollard last week with mine, only the 2nd job but I love it already... did 2 cuts one handed with my arm fully extended and it's just about as heavy as I could cope with, { awaiting criticism } I think it's just about as good as the petrol alternative cutting speed wise and a lot less fuss....stihl had 2 bars left, as a non pro user doing a lot of wee jobs I can see it being my go to saw, cheers.
  10. I think any lube advantage would be more to do with 4 stroke valves and the pre-ignition problem associated with them, cheers.
  11. Leading link.... I've got the best part of a 350 clipper .....guessing 49 ish , rigid but with the very earliest version of the roadholder Teles........parts might be scarce ?
  12. Think it'll be a while before I get around to it, got pics as was.. and stripped..... so relating back to last veg oil / carbon thread it's bits are looking to be the candidates for my dip tank cleaning trial, got all the stuff and got expectations...but we'll see.. Want to try it with veg oil crud but don't have any such saws.... but fortunately my neighbour's an f c with the FC ......so he might have something dirty ?
  13. If you still had it would you run it at 50 on hp super ??.. nah prob Aspen I never particularly liked 2 strokes as a rule.....but by feck me I remember these, never owned one but worked on and rode a few......MENTAL in there time....and check the price ! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kawasaki-H2-750-TRIPLE-1972-K-RESTORED-STUNNING-/282482309284
  14. Algae bloom ??? ?
  15. I wouldn't worry yet...looking back into the distant past I've had at least 2 other lives since then ?
  16. Hi, yeah I've got a Pioneer 620 stripped for restoration if I ever get round to it....rescued from a bonfire, it's previous owner wanted to see if the magnesium would burn, pretty sure it's a Villiers engine but if I remember correctly it's got a tillotson carb. Another Villiers engine......probably
  17. Yeah, I run my Yamaha outboards on Stihl HP ultra. 100:1's probably only fine long term as they really don't get hot { until the impeller goes } and compared to a modern saw are in a very low state of tune, really thirsty and also under very little stress compared to most other 2 strokes. I remember some of the 2 stroke old bikes I had, mostly powered by Villiers engines used to have the oil measure cup built onto the bottom of the gas tank cap.....Now they were smoky. The lead did act as a lubricant and to prevent pre-ignition, back in the day I ran my Triumphs on 5 star at 11-1 +, don't really like fecking 2 strokes ? cheers.
  18. Very very nice?
  19. Had a skyline operation taking out wood on a hill behind me last year, interesting to watch...they left a real clean job.... compared to the mess left by the mob harvesting the block next to them.
  20. Very nice...good luck
  21. Yeah, me too....big style ?
  22. I would imagine that going back a long time Ireland and Scotland would have been inhabited with similar species.... on Rannoch moor for instance I know the roots of the ancient Caledonian pine forest can be dug out, so if it's old enough to be buried in a peat bog ....who knows. I think the programme I saw about the pine tar was from Scandanavia, Cheers.
  23. Just a thought....depending what the root is from it may be full of natural ' creosote ' if it was a pine I think these roots were dug out at one time and used to produce pine tar....but very nice anyway.
  24. Totally agree, at the end of the day it's all about temperature, with the correct mixture just keep it gassed up..... basically only thing that needs bedded in is the piston ring in a modern engine.? Thinking about it i doubt if hardly anything today needs running in..... if it did it would be a nightmare for the manufacturers.
  25. As this worked out well for you, fair enough......perhaps if only at tickover with the flywheel fan keeping it cool enough it may be ok.... but with 2 strokes very little fuel = very little oil. When running in or even just normal running of a powerful 2 stroke dirt bike for instance you keep it gassed up as much as poss... not necessarily using all it's power but blipping the throttle constantly to put as much fuel through as possible, I must admit to doing this with my saws even just in normal use......old habits die hard....just my take on it, cheers.
