  1. Pics at last (it's been raining for two days!). One butt is ~10m the other ~7.5m.
  2. Listing of buildings pertains to architectural features/merit. As above, other 'protections' may apply: designed landscapes, covenants, TPOs, etc.
  3. Thanks All, Top is just left, no tidy up. We aren't going to get a bill because the contractor approached us. One butt is 10T according to contractor. Other probably less. I'll post some pics later.
  4. After a ballpark figure please. We have two elms, approx. 450 cu/20 tonne in total (~250 year old) going away for milling. Middle-man contractor has felled and extracted to roadside at his cost and he will be paying haulage. Two guys on the job. Had to be felled first to see where rot stopped. Luckily this was about a meter above the cut. We get to retain crown for firewood. Any ideas on the going rate to us?

  6. I would say that a new order is required after six months without confirmation: "... and [the order] must be confirmed no later than the expiration of the period of six months ... " i.e. if it isn't then the order expires. Anything else would not provide for a fair re-assessment/change in conditions.
  7. You are correct. Without confirmation an order is [provisionally] effective for six months. To be fully effective the order must be confirmed within six months. If the order is not confirmed [within six months] then after six months have elapsed the provisional protection expires.
  8. In the absence of any other arrangement, 30 days after delivery of goods or services. You can also claim interest and compensation. Google Late Payments Act.
  9. Cancel the order. Think about a mix of shrubs with a few [small] trees for year round interest and much sooner than the trees will provide it. I would have thought that a less aggressive, tactile hedge would be better suited to that environment. You might need some soil
  10. Satellite broadband is actually pretty good, if slower (obviously) than terrestrial broadband. We participated in a BT pilot around 10 years ago so the gear and installation was paid for. At that time it was an improvement on ISDN. I was impressed with how reliable it was.
  11. Thanks for the link. The non-working version led me to this page, which has some other useful stuff: Guidance documents (Forest Research)
  12. Avoid if possible. Studies show that cortisone is rarely a lasting solution and can weaken the joint in the long term. As said, find out what the problem is. Remedies include: rest, hot/cold, dynaband exercises, deep tissue massage, ultrasound.
  13. I would drop the sweet chestnut for, say, hazel. SC unlikely to thrive with you.
  14. Coral spot. Loves beech, especially a damaged one.
  15. +1 Colletia flowers are tighter to the stem.
  16. That doesn't resemble an MS230 oil filter. P/N is 1123 640 3800 Oil Pickup Filter for Stihl Chainsaws - 1123 640 3800 | Stihl MS170/017 Chainsaw Spares
  17. If the machine is new and under warranty and as you say they supplier is sending a replacement sounds like you might have a claim against them.
  18. Google "traders liability insurance". It's offered through comparison sites, e.g., Business Insurance For Market Traders ? MoneySuperMarket
  19. Yeah, but still where the nails are, right? Also, if any of your customers have the riddling type bottom grate in a woodburner they won't thank you for selling them nails that jam the bars -- just a thought.
  20. Cut the boards halfway between the middle and side blocks leaving them still attached to the blocks. Then cut the boards down (or up) with the side of the bar brushing against the blocks. This leaves you four, nail free, kindling sized lengths to split down.
  21. Celox (chitosan) is for major, life-threatening bleeds. Forms a plug and accelerates clotting. Does it work? Sure: http://www.frontmed.co.nz/Modules/LSDocumentManager/DocumentDownload.aspx?DocumentId=8
  22. Have you checked the roots? We have laurel growing well in some pretty gloomy spots. Lonicera nitida is worth a try for your application.
