  1. Had a better look and i do have the normal black filter on the end of the pickup pipe, so what this thing is i just dont know. Thanks for all your help. Now where did i put that earplug........
  2. Its hard to find a piece without hair.
  3. Thanks for the reply. I bought the chainsaw new from a store here. So this sponge thing must have been put on at the factory. Maybe they changed the design because they came off like mine did. I'll get a new one from the part number you supplied. Many thanks.
  4. Think you are right, now the oil level has dropped i can see the pipe i would imagine it goes on the end of it like you say. Now the problem is, what's the part number, i cant see it in the parts list. Thanks for the reply.
  5. Finally found it laying on the floor. It looks a bit shrivelled but thats how it was when it floated to the surface in the oil reservoir. Sorry about the delay in replying.
  6. Its gone missing for the moment i'll keep trying to find it but theres not much to see, its just a bit of old sponge that has perished. If you imagine an off white sponge ear plug then that is just what it looks like and pretty much the same size.
  7. Hello. Can anyone help me with some advice please. I have a Stihl MS230 chainsaw and today i was topping up the chain oil and while i was doing it a small piece of sponge about the size of the end of my little finger just floated to the surface. I have looked at the parts list for this machine and cant find any reference to it. As it just came off on its own i presume it is possibly worn and needs replacing, but with what? Does anyone here know if there should actually be a filter in there, or is it something else. I cant find anything online either. Thanks in advance for any replies.
