  1. I have a jonsered that does this, I hope it's not the coil as I can't get another, so I'm trying other things first, impulse line- when it gets warms could make the rubber pipe soft giving less vacuum in the carb, fuel tank breather, changed it to a new one but that leaks fuel( cheap Chinese I think) into the air filter witch slowly floods the engine? Sorted that prob did a hole tank of fuel and seemed better but then pull cord broke. I'll try and remember to take it tommorow and try it again. If not I think it's the coil.
  2. Never heard of a gold crest tree sorry! Is it a conifer? If so the lower branches can die naturally as the tree grows. Removing them on one side only normally doesn't make the branches on the other side die. Look at all the one sided trees near power lines! TBH this is guess work as we need pictures to see what is happening Thanks will heal
  3. Good way to photo them, photos like these will start turning up on your ' tis the season ' thread David!
  4. Eggs has got a point. If you try and start a tree business without experience you won't get far even with a great amount of enthusiasm as we can all see you've got. My suggestion is if you can get a job or hire yourself out brash dragging for a tree surgeon then you will learn a lot by doing that. Get your tickets, and if you get your own work in the meantime that's a bonus.
  5. Don't buy timber pro rubbish, when it breaks down, and that won't take long you won't be able to get bits for it. Best cheap saw for starting out would be a stihl 170 with a 14 inch bar. You can use it on the ground and when I started climbing I used to use mine in the tree instead of a topper. At least it makes you use two hands on the saw and makes you think about your cuts more.
  6. Forget the ryobi and break out the stihl! Sorry, I would pop in but working in Basingstoke for the next six weeks solid so nowhere near, good luck with getting it going. Did anyone say check the fuel lines change the filter and clean the little tiny gauze in the carb?
  7. It is snowing in west berkshire

  12. Is that the stuff that looks like rubber Tarmac?
  13. Won't they just bounce into next doors garden? We use hard plastic mats that are designed for driving machines over soft ground, you can throw chogs onto these and fell trees onto them can't remember what they are called tho
  14. Uh oh this'll cause an arguement!
  15. Stihl?
  16. Think I've read on here that some people use it to make outdoor furniture as it is a durable wood, and if you cut it thick enough shouldn't warp too much
