  5. Hi all, Need some advice on getting a website. I'm planning on starting up on my own again within the next 12 months, and I want to get a website and a little bit of advertising up and up and running before I make the move. I admit I don't know anything about websites so lots of questions. How much does it cost to have someone make one from scratch? Could I do it myself with no experience or would it be crap. Is it worth spending a lot of money on a site? Does it bring the work in? Does it cost more to get your results near the top of a google search. I know these are simple questions but thanks anyway
  6. Broke the gasket on top of the carb So I have had to make a new one Taped the old one back together and used it as a template Used a drill to cut the holes, it's not perfect and when I get time I'll make a better one
  7. Very kind offer eddy. Pm sent
  8. Put a picture on. I have an elwell I bought for seven pounds about 10 years ago
  9. I thought there was something fishy bout it, the description seemed odd
  10. Oh. Forgot to say I have a thread going to show the work I'm doing to it. I hope you do the same with yours, I find them interesting
  11. Hi div, I've just bought this old stihl Got it for £8 on the bay Thought it would be completely knackered but a bit of fiddling and I've got it running. Few more bits to get it going properly but was better than I thought. I found this that might suit you today on eBay, plus the one above is what it could look like I'm watching it but too far for me to go it's near Lincoln
  12. To the bear hotel in Hungerford , 5 mins tops
  13. Took the top off the carb an cleaned the tiny filter It was full of fine dust. Also took handle off and gave it a bit more of a clean
  14. Had another fiddle with it tonight, managed to push in the decomp button and it works in and out. How can you tell if they leak? Are they easy to blank off?
  15. Can't seem to push the decomp valve in. Got the plug out My fault I broke it but found another, so checked for a spark, it's got one. Replaced the plug, little bit of aspen into the carb pulled it over an I'm sure it fired but couldn't fire it again. Went back to it this morning put some fuel in the tank gave it a few pulls it coughed, few more, big cloud of smoke and it fired up! Revved up ok but I think it should have been harder to pull over is this a lack of compression? Is it worth getting it tested?
  16. I'm pretty sure it's closer to an 050 so if it is it's 90cc and 52mm bore, the 075 is bigger.
  17. Thanks, I do need a clutch cover, and dogs, air filter base and top the list goes on. I've got a mate with a few old stihls so I'll ask him first but I may need to come back to you
  18. i I made these. I'm going to give up trees an go baking instead! Oh, an I'm going to try to get this to run too:)
  19. So, it seems to have good compression, I think. So now to check for a spark
  20. I stripped the starter mechanism as it was a bit sticky and dry and put it back together but it still didn't work so after some questions on spuds bench thread and a you tube vid, I took the bit in the second pic apart and turned the dogs round. One end of each dog was rounded and burred. One looked new put it all back together and it now catches on the cup, Yes it's worn out but should last a bit
  21. Starter and fuel tank fresh out the dish washer nice n clean! Filter cleaned up ok but gonna fit a new one fuel line rubber is a bit stiff but can't see any holes, is it worth replacing anyway?
  22. As I learned from eddyT, this is a Fairbanks starter and it's worn out which is why I haven't been able to turn the engine yet. Googled Fairbanks starter and would you believe it there's a YouTube vid to show cleaning and maintaining one.
  23. Think I saw a pic of that, it was a joke I think? TBF this might not be much better. As my old man would tell you I'm good at taking things apart but not good at putting them back together !
  24. Decompression button? It turns rather than pushes in
  25. Got the disc cutter bit off Has a drive sprocket on it already
