  1. Two hundred hours in two years ? You need to remember to hitch it on in the morning and take it to work These TW chippers will rack up thousands of trouble free hours if they are looked after, I would stick with what you have for the moment. Bob
  2. Soon racks up Tommy , it was plus costs of £5k plus their own legals and whatever the insurance hike will be after they have to cough up for other damages ( if they cough up at all). He has probably booked a holiday in Barbados off the back of this one
  3. Just need a trusty rusty winch https://arbtalk.co.uk/forums/topic/47486-the-todays-job-thread/?page=316&tab=comments#comment-1278973
  4. 24k Fine was a bit harsh https://videos.metro.co.uk/video/met/2016/08/03/3895101489547228456/640x360_3895101489547228456.mp4
  5. Interesting solution but I would imagine the groundies would skate around on that like Torvil & Dean if it ever got wet. Bob
  6. Roughnecks are an excellent piece of kit, some 4x4`s among them as well. Lad up the road has one and its got the tow pack with it so no trailer is needed . Mick Dundee made up a fork carriage for it which clips in where the skip goes. Like this one. Tow package
  7. High tip skid steer dumper ticks a few boxes and will go through any garden gate, it will churn up grass though so needs ply but that's handy anyway to run it up steps.
  8. Most of the concrete bases we have installed in recent years have been for Polish log cabins. We may not be big importers of their sawn timer but we do buy a lot of Polish timber products. Cash is king in Poland and god help anyone that will stand in the way of a pole after cash Bob
  9. This just about sums it . Interesting point picked up on by the coroner. Coroner Alison Mutch said: “This investigation gave rise to concern that risk of future deaths and action needs to be taken to eliminate any future risk of death. “The thing that concerns me is the communication between a groundsman and the aerial climbers and the ratio of grounds people to aerial climbers. This needs further investigation.” Mr Bancroft said: “Paul thew his tag line down and I caught it and attached the pull line to it then sent it back up to him. He climbed to the highest part of the tree, attached the pull line to the top of the tree and threw it out so that I could catch it. He climbed back into the conifer and I couldn’t see him at all because there was so much foliage. The report also noted the groundie and climber were not within sight of each other, this is not uncommon but on the same token with helmet two way radio now widely available perhaps they should be considered essential.
  10. Great tool to keep in a machine behind the seat or in the truck for emergencies. Not really a proper ground saw but I can see the attraction for the top handle gear, that said they are improving all the time. Bob
  11. Khriss , JB looked into her eyes and she became pregnant, as you know with JB`s offspring the gestation period is less that 48 hours ( its that fecking beard that does it). Anyway went down to the gate this morning , all the logs were gone and there was a little bundle left by the gate wrapped in swaddling .
  12. Plogs has sussed out how to hack into an account w3lkom bAk j0N Bob
  13. Still some about that take an external aerial http://www.bury.com/consumer/uk/products/kategorie/cradle-with-charging-and-antenna-3/produkt/system-9-5/seite/technische-daten.html
  14. Shame really Stubby, if you two could have got it together you would have been HRH Stubby the queens hubby. Got a nice ring to it Bob
  15. Had the same problem here a few years ago so bought a car handsfree kit and ran it off 12 volt charger, the aerial was on the facia outside . All worked well but they have sorted out reception now so dont need it, Bob
  16. Al you can check/eliminate the rotator if you put it back on the crane and connect up one pipe, take the quick release coupling off the other pipe and shove that into a drum, pull whatever lever ( one way or the other) that you use to rotate and fluid will either pump straight through the rotator (fecked) or it will rotate indicating something wrong with the crane hydraulics or a coupling fault . Bob
  17. Welcome to the world of plate spinners Stefan Bob
  18. Its a problem Al, employees come in two mindsets and two wage structures The mindset of the employed and the mindset of the self employed, what we are always hoping for is the mindset of a self employed person on the wage of someone on the cards. Not many of them around and as the older lads drop out there seems to be a shortage of lads/ladesses filling their boots. Bob
  19. Back on track chaps Mr @AA Teccie (Paul) I have question . If a small arb outfit were to apply to join AA what would the costs be ?. Lets assume it based on a climber, one groundie and a labourer , also they are up to speed on the following. They have loler on their climbing kit. They keep maintenance records of kit and trucks. RAMS for all their work. Toolbox talks with hse updates. All have current tickets . All wear chequered shirts and have beards Bob
  20. For us its not that we dont want to be ARB approved its that we have never needed to be. I cant think of an occasion where ARB approval has been specified on any contracts we have tendered for. Smas covers us for all the site clearance we do and the only reason we went with them was because its become a prerequisite .Although we are HS compliant accreditation does not seem that important outside of MOD contracts and the construction industry. Bob
  21. Another footpath the lads are doing, just needs fines on top and rolling. 2mts wide x500mts long. timber edged , sub base, sand, terram , 4"of limestone.
  22. Another vote for RSL products, placed an order for a thumb and it was here within a week. Not bad for a special. Mick glued it on today while I tinkered with the hydraulics.
  23. Not a problem as such but you could be a week away from getting spares which may cause a problem if you needed them in a hurry ,they are very well made machines but a bit heavy compared to their European counterparts. Bob
  24. I have a Morbark WTC , its got a 200hp cummins engine which is the only bit that parts are available for in the UK. All the bearings and belts etc cant be matched with generic UK parts which is a bit of a pain. It ingested a rather large lump of steel a few years ago and is out of action until I find the time to overhaul it. Will post up pics when I drag it in. Bob
