  1. Dont mention the gold Richie Gordon Brown's decision to sell half of the UK's gold reserves 'cost UK 5billion' - Telegraph Bob
  2. How about a bit more PM capacity Steve ? Bob
  3. SWMBO sent me off down to Aldi for some steaks and said if there are none get something else so I got a borescope. It was £40ish and was not really expecting much but I have to say its brilliant. Resolution is good, its ideal for poking around inside a chainsaw, gearboxes etc prior to stripping them down. Dont look up yer nose or in yer lugs though
  4. I think pensioners should be means tested for all they receive Timon, a fair few of them are in mansions and sitting on very healthy nest eggs while others are in desperate need. The elderly are all living longer and drain an amount of cash from the pension/healthcare/housing pot that is totally unsustainable and disproportionate to the contributions made during their working life. I feel it should only go to those that need it most however unpopular that is. We all know there is nothing in the kitty and owe it to future generations not to rack up more debt. Steady Matelot although I agree with you in part David "the jailer" Humphries will lock this thread unless we steer away from this topic. Bob
  5. All pics are dumped on photobucket Mathew so easy to retrieve and post up , wont be around for long though because they are going to start charging $400 a year for the privilege. I dont value my pictures that much Bob
  6. Big drills in wooden posts are gut buster territory, it will kill all the toytown drills. If you really need cordless for this see if you can find a two stroke drill, they are ideal for this sort of thing. Bob Gets plenty of use .

    A/t tyre

If anyone else is looking for a budget 4x4 tyre the Falken AT01 seems reasonable , four off at £340 inc vat and fitting/balancing . Just put four on the Ranger, not in the same league as the Bfg or Bridgestone but when they get chopped to bits you wont be crying about it. Bob
  8. There is a fair shortage of both Felix, if they had to pay for their education there would be fewer still . I suppose we could always import a few thousand more Bob
  9. You will need a big rattle gun and a couple of decent jacks but other than that its an hours work. If you get stuck Al you are more than welcome to bring it down and use our kit.. Bob
  10. The guys missed it Al, page 100 of the bible says broken or lose top leafs of a spring pack are an immediate prohibition, a fractured leaf within the pack are a deferred prohibition ( only allowed to drive back to the workshop) You really dont want either, the paperwork to remove them is a nightmare and worse still you will flag up as a pull for a fair time thereafter. Bob
  11. Thats the helper spring Al, looks like its been doing a bit of overtime helping Give Gary a call at FRM`s, they own Sperry springs and will be able to offer an upgrade on the main spring so the helpers just help again There is a GV9 there Al so dont leave it. Bob
  12. Just find a bloke called Bob thats got a low loader, thats what everyone else around here does Bert
  13. Gearbox seal had gone on the little petrol mixer the landscape lads use and despite oil running down the back of the drum none of them saw fit to stop using it so its lunched. Its not caused a problem but thats one tiny cogged belt I am pretty sure the older electric ones run a fan belt. Fitted the new gearbox. Gagged the drum thread in copper slip. Gave it an oil change, those old hypoid oil containers with the tube are bang on for filling these engine. Worth keeping one clean just for this. No paint
  14. If the man still has some Pete I would like to buy a few http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/stolen-equipment/74268-meooksgawn.html Quite few small items broke so I am going to bore the tits off you all with the repairs , going to attack a few bits every week. The wacker engine threw a con rod so I stripped it down and gave it a tidy up, replace the Honda with a generic replacement Loncin unit. Pulled it to bits and drained the oil out of the exciter. A couple of the mounting rubbers needed replacing. The new Loncin engine uses a bolt to hold on the pulley vs the large nut of the Honda. Strange but the internal thread of the Loncin is 5/16" unf, cant remember the last time I saw a unf thread on modern engines:confused1: Bored out a thick washer on the lathe and used thread lock, should be OK. Found a rattle can of red touch up paint and gave it a coat
  15. Behave yourself Matelot, where would the inner city labour vote be without them? Also the term "immigrant" covers a broad spectrum , we have migrant workers, asylum seekers and those just along for a better life. Cant be tarred with the same brush because some of them do benefit the economy. Bob
  16. It must be Bolam o'clock Bob
  17. Yes VI it was put across badly What I meant was people should worry more about their health and happiness than just money. Way to many guys out there driving themselves into an early grave just for the cash. Bob
  18. Poor people are unhealthy and unhappy, rich people are healthy and happy. Its nothing to do with wealth. Bob
  19. Had both and still run a couple of Freelanders, Terrano wins hands down as a tow barge but the Freelander is a better 4x4 car for smoking about in. Both do a different job really. Bob
  20. After reading through this thread it would appear we should perhaps be more thorough and creative with terms and conditions. Bob
  21. Measure the OD of the pipe Al, there is a fair chance of there being some here and the bender to go with it. Bob
