  1. A friend of mine had some and didn't want the plastic inner containers but his lad cut the tops off them and put some lagging round the cut edge, filled them with water and the kids had a great time .
  2. Where is your diagram from? the list of part numbers is at the side of the picture on diyspareparts.com.
  3. That L&S part number 27 looks like the one I'll get some ordered. Thanks all.
  4. Is the MS170 tank neck same as the MS460 ? The ones I've seen have screw caps not flippy and the retainer on mine is different to the one in the picture. I called at the Stihl dealer and he will only do a complete cap so I have gone the DIY route, bent a bit of welding rod round the end of the string and pushed it into the neck and it does the job for now.
  5. The plastic bit that fastens onto the end of the string and wedges in the neck of the tank. I can't even find a picture of it. I will nip into the local Stihl shop next week and look on their parts list.
  6. Question - can you get the bit of plastic that stops Stihl fuel and oil caps from falling off when you undo them? They are missing on my saw and it's a pain and I can't find them anywhere.
  7. I have 3 round of tree trunk stacked on top of each other to split wood on. If I lift the top piece there are always worms between them. I clear them out and put them in the compost bin yet they will be there again next time.
  8. There's lots on eBay from China for about £12. Looks like MS181 carb so there should be plenty available.
  9. I don't understand this, can you show what you mean as your explanation is not making sense. Has the circlip come off the screw or something ? You can get the whole mechanism for about £5 on ebay.
  10. When I was gardening we used to do a 12' tall Yew hedge at one of the houses. It was about 30' long across the front of a walled garden and was sided up and the top squared off every year. We didn't refuse to do any of it because we weren't "tree surgeons". Why did your man set on tree surgeons to do a gardening job. I read your tirade in the original post and come to the conclusion you just like to have a rant. Did they do what they were asked ? Yes and you say they did a shoddy job yet you have to go and fix their otherwise tidy work as a favour. Why do you get yourself involved and worked up over something that is not your problem?. The landlord should have been there or told them exactly what he wanted and if he isn't happy with the job he should get them back to finish it. Some landlords suck, some tree surgeon/gardeners suck and if you're lucky you might get a woman that does if that is your inclination Yesterday I fixed a neighbour's pressure washer just for a thank you. A repair shop told him it was not worth it, they probably suck as well but I didn't think to post a rant about it anywhere. I'm retired and don't mind helping anybody out and it only took me about an hour. He's a friend and we have been neighbours for 30+ years and I would rather do anyone a favour than a disservice, just get on with it and calm down and stop posting your rants as you know how it's going to end. Think of butterflies and calm blue oceans before you start typing your thread titles and remember that if you can't say something nice sometimes it's better to not say anything at all. Learn how to put pictures in your posts and you might get a bit of support, you might not though as thick skulls take some penetrating with knowledge as well as opinions.
  11. Some Tree Surgeons Suck......... Tree surgeons don't do hedges that's a gardener's job. I was a gardener years ago and we used to trim hedges and prune small trees if they were in the hedge. All in a day for us working on an hourly rate.
  12. I hired an aluminium tower to do a chimney on the house. You climbed up the inside of the tower and lowered trapdoor as you went up. It took me and a lad to build it no problems and cost £50 for the week. If I was buying one I would go for one of those.
  13. There's one on gumtree for £240 if you want one to play with instead of waiting for the warranty to run out on a new one.
  14. We have just had a thunderstorm and hailstones the size of marbles battering everything in the garden. Hailstones are about 3" deep everywhere flattened the lettuce and ripped all the blossom off the apple trees.
  15. First thing to do would be to check the H & L screw by screwing them in till they seat gently then turn them out 1 full turn each then try to get the tick-over fairly even when you have warmed up the saw.
  16. Is that like a Tillotson ? I reckon it's worth £40 just to teach you a lesson, they are old technology, points and condenser and 20:1 oil ratio plus they weigh 8.5 kilos.
  17. You can eat the fresh tips off the knotweed apparently it tastes like rhubarb. You have to cook and eat them on site though as it is an offence to move it.
  18. I sometimes burn pallets and you get one of those under each corner and in the middle so I sometimes get 9 cubes for free. I didn't realise how much a cube cost these days with scrounging arb arisings.
  19. But the oil in the ground has taken millions of years to form and the plants will grow again next year and every year after that won't they ? As with everything else production costs will drop as new techniques are developed and new improved sources are found. Some way of turning plastic waste back into fuel would be a good start.
  20. MS460 bought on Gumtree as a do upper needing work and plastics. Thought it might be a project but looked at the piston through the exhaust and it's pretty good, compression is good now the decomp button is freed up. Cleaned the carb out and generally cleaned the saw and it fired up 3rd pull. The security caps on the carb are chewed up so I'll look at removing them to adjust the carb and get some plastics ordered next week.
  21. Any I have had to remove the handle cover there is usually a self tapper at the bottom end of the handle and you need to turn it over to see it. When it does come off watch out for the operator presence lever spring and make a note of where it came from.
  22. You should be taking this up with trading standards, you are eligible for repairs under the consumer rights act or the sale of goods act.
  23. Is it that you can see his lips move ?

    Husqvarna 357

How is it rattling? Are you putting it in a box and shaking it?
  25. You could be digging down to 2 metres and an area up to 7 metres bigger than the original patch though, knotted is not easy to eradicate organically.
