  1. Did you set the metering up when you replaced the diaphragm ?
  2. Vice grip slide hammer.
  3. We found that as well, ended up taking down to ground level
  4. Take your oil pump drive out as well and check the pump as it looks like it all got hot and is probably melted together. That would explain the stalling and running chain on tick over.

    Stihl Ms500i

Spotted this on Preloved handy for anyone round Manchester MS500i promotional offer £330. Get in quick I can't see them lasting (or existing) at that price 🙄
  6. Ours does the smoky thing sometimes and all I do is open a window or the back door for a couple of minutes and the through flow takes the smoke back up the chimney. It only happens in cold damp weather.
  7. This explains the difference. Interesting topic.

    Mini Saws

I'd have cut most of what he did there with a lopper.
  10. Been lighting ours for about a week now just in the evenings for a few hours while the telly is on.
  11. Glue the rope seal and use some adhesive tape to hold it in place then shut the door on it and leave it for the rest of the day.
  12. Lucky you 😋 A friend of mine had a MS260 someone had "muffler modded", all it did was make more noise🤪
  13. Get back in the house man, the neighbour's are getting restless. 🤣
  14. The log bags in the foyer at our local Home Bargains seem to have about 9 pieces each in them and are priced at £5.65 which makes the logs about 63p each, better value than the ones at Hardwick Hall which worked out at about 70p each.
  15. Why run it lean ? I turn mine out till it 4 strokes but cleans up under load when cutting.
  16. 135 don't have limiters, the one I have anyway and I had it from new. All they have is the splined adjuster screws. My friend has one as well and his has no limiters either. Warm the engine up then turn the L screw right in then out 1 1/4 turns, speed the tickover up to keep it running then adjust the L screw out till it starts to stall and run it back in a touch. I've had mine about 9 years now and it's been no trouble. Burping at high revs sounds like too much fuel 4 stroking it.
  17. I am currently outside emptying the log store with a bottle of washing up liquid to hand. It's all good so far but I'm feeling a bit faint 🥱
  18. We've juiced a lot of our apples and my wife has frozen the juice in flat take out trays 1 pint in each then taken it out and put it in bags.
  19. Does it run at all between seizes or is it locking up just pulling it over even without the spark plug fitted ?
  20. I light our Hunter stove with 6 pieces of newspaper and 4 or 5 sticks. The wood is from the farm dumped there by local arb and has been drying for a few years before we cut and split it. There's a bit of everything in it, Alder, Ash, Birch you name it it goes on the fire. You can feel the different densities of the wood lifting it onto the splitter and I use the lighter stuff to start the fire then put something heavier on to keep it going. Last night I lit the fire and out of curiosity timed how long it took to start the Aldi fan on top, it was just over 15 minutes. When I light it I leave the door open a crack to get it blazing then shut it, that way it doesn't make any smoke even when starting up.
  21. What was the air temperature at the time the saw was acting up. A friend has a 550xp which was acting weird during the hot spell but has gone back to normal now.
  22. I've always topped my saws up with mineral oil before putting them away and apart from a bit leaking out I've never had any problems Some must use different anti fling ingredients
  23. If you leave it in a cold garage it separates in the container, ours did anyway and it wasn't cheap stuff.
  24. I'm using some chain oil from Aztec oils at the moment and it not just sticky it's stringy.
  25. Because if you don't then they don't know that you want them to ?
