  1. Show us some pictures at least of the piston and possibly the inside of the cylinder to have some idea of the state of play. How did it get to this stage as it sounds like it had some serious misuse if it lost compression and the bearings are shot unless it left the factory with problems.
  2. 😝Any saw that does that to itself deserves everything it gets. That needs a deflector to blow the heat forwards away from the plastic.
  3. I don't understand this symptom
  4. Well she says whatever he tells you, take two inches off🙄
  5. I've found I have to open the L screw up 1/4 to 1/2 a turn making them richer and had to speed up the idle to compensate. That is on two Stihl saws and a Husqvarna.
  6. If the oil hole lines up you should be ok, pitch and drive link count is the same and they are 1.6 gauge but the 121 is listed for MS391 to use rapid micro for farm and firewood cutting and the 221 rapid super for forestry on saws like the MS441.
  7. That was Ursula Andress 🤔 in her part as Honey Ryder diving for conch shells. She was later catching crabs off Bond.
  8. I find the wide neck washing detergent bottles a good standby, save an empty then tip it in the compost when you've used it (only for wee though)
  9. That looks nasty, hope they come up with something to put it back together for you.
  10. It's aluminium so it's not going to rust or react with anything, probably safer than any paint you might put on it.
  11. some people collect old saws or use them for parts. McCullochs fetch good money in America.
  12. As noted, it's definitely had a life 😳
  13. It's a brake, break is what it would have done if it fitted. I had some plastics from Farmertec which were o.k. but no moving parts so can't comment on the rest.
  14. It looks like a simple circuit, a continuity check at the switch would be the first thing to see if it is shorted somewhere.
  15. Occam's razor
  16. When I was in factory work a crew was in fitting a new machine. One day their foreman got a phone call and was quite done about it moaning to his lads and they all seemed despondent. I asked why and he said the gaffer had just informed him the next job was in New Zealand. I said it must be nice to get sent to places like that and he replied that it is the most boring place on Earth once you have seen the sights.
  17. What gauge and pitch chain is he using ?
  18. Your MS340 is in a better saw than the MS391 even when the bar is straight.
  19. I blow mine out with the compressor when it looks dusty, a little and often is always easier than trying to get the baked on stuff off especially if you've been cutting pine or similar.
  20. Had similar on a 180 and cleaned the carb out with no improvement, it was the metering adjustment. Bent the arm up a bit and it was running perfect.
  21. They'll last ages sat on the shelf 😁
  22. That's right, that would be the brake and if you're having an emergency with the saw you should have let go of the trigger by now
  23. But it will only be ticking over and if your ears work you will know it's still running and hold it to stop again. I like those switches, clearly marked with an arrow and stop written on them not like the rocker type with O and I on them.
  24. I did that on my Chinese top handle 🤕 I couldn't even start it till I'd cleaned the carb twice it had glued the metering diaphragm solid.
