  1. I had a bike with old fuel and it was the very worst I have ever seen. It smelt like someone had filled the tank with gloss paint and the float bowls were bright green inside with the jets solid with black growth. Luckily I found a set of carbs on eBay and swapped a lot of bits over or it would have been a scrapper. I swapped to Aspen for my saws because they can be stood for a month at a time.
  2. Cybernetic monkeys with Silky saws will be used for pruning I think. They are already working on a prototype. [ame] [/ame]
  3. If he employs casual labour and you know any of them make sure they know he is reluctant to cough up.
  4. It's called chequer or checker plate round here and most places I've ever bought it call it that. It doesn't mark up as quickly or a much as flat plate and if it does mark it doesn't show up as much. If you don't like the pattern ask them to build it inside out I've used it to make bash plates and various other items for vehicles.
  5. The only part of that that would take any time is the kingpin, the rest is just fiddly but fairly straight forward. I put new discs and pads on the Berlingo Sunday, cost £47 and a couple of hours work including 2 drinks of tea.
  6. Beech does keep a lot of it's dead leaves till the new shoots force them to drop. We used to have a lot of them on old schools when I worked on gardens and I liked them much more than Privet which would be an alternative here or Hawthorn which made a good dense hedge if planted properly but a bit too painful for my liking.
  7. 254 used to be the saw to have, like the 550 of it's day I believe. If a 14" bar is big enough for your needs why change ? Run it till you need something bigger then either get a bar or sell the saw as you should get back what you paid if it's still running.
  8. Years ago at a builders salvage yard near here the owner and his brothers caught a local toerag stealing the lead flashing they saved for beer money. They took him to a local railway bridge and hung him over by the ankles till a train came, he was not hurt but they were caught by the police and sentenced for kidnapping and some other offence and they too received "suspended" sentences and a stiff fine but they said it was worth it.
  9. Bikini waxing.
  10. So you weren't really in prison you were just there measuring up eh ?
  11. Being a gay cross dresser I find this post highly offensive and hereby request it be stricken from the records
  12. Do you think we'll ever hear from him again or has it eaten him ?
  13. Some bed socks would be nice. There's a developing Ash tree a few gardens up from us, another one was removed about 10 years ago and it took 2 blokes 3 days to get rid of it. It was massive and awkward to get at and we are getting seedlings from the new one now. They root in 30 seconds and grow to 4 foot overnight usually in the base of the wall so you can't get them out. Ash trees are nice out in the countryside but in an urban setting they are a pain.
  14. Too right mate, what's the point posting if people are going to disagree or even laugh irreverently. How do we know when someone hasn't bothered to post, telepathy ?

    First chainsaw

I richened the L screw up which slows the tick over a bit and then speeded the tick over up and it's good now. I have heard a few say the 135 is hard to start and mine was a bit hit or miss till I adjusted it.

I bought a Husqvarna 135 before I started reading arbtalk and I don't have any problems starting it. I bought a splined driver and adjusted the carburetor after it has between run for a while and had no problem starting from cold or when hot. For under £200 I am pleased with it but if I had been on here before I bought it I would probably have spent more and got something I didn't really need just to cut firewood. I have since repaired my old Dynamac so could probably say I didn't really need to buy the husky but what fun would that have been . Buy something you can afford and get on with the job.

  21. Dynamite ?
  22. Our local insurance broker has a similar number to ours just one digit different and we often get calls for them. I could have sold no end of insurance. My favourite is when they ask for a quote before I get chance to tell them they have a wrong number, I always give them Hamlet's soliloquy or Richard III
  23. I was expecting teddy bears
