1. Indeed, but it's better than no jerky. Will give that link a go. Cheers
 2. I developed a taste for it in a yank base in the gulf. I can get it from sainsburys at the end of the crisp isle, but a the amount I eat I soon run out of money lol
 3. The last sentence is the only argument you need lol
 4. They called me back the other week. I wouldn't mind starting it but just gone self employed so pennies are tight and MOT due. Will definitely start it this year though.
 5. Have a look at 'rate my hinge' thread. 1082 posts how many have the back cut below the gob? I'd hazard a guess at non or very little
 6. Another Americanism we've had thrust upon us. It's only a bit of wind, but it adds a bit to the kitty for tree surgeons and fence panel sellers 👍🏼
 7. I believe most if not all accidents are caused by not being trained or competent, doing something to contradict training or generally being a prat. If used by trained staff and set up correctly accidents should be minimal I've seen MEWPs set up in the wrong place, lumps dropped on the body and legs. MEWPs used to 'crane' stuff away from the tree etc.
 8. The drill bit for eco plugs has a washer welded on for a 1 3/8" - 1 5/8" drilling depth. A friend takes a ring off approx 1" and then chases the cambium with the saw, in goes salt and the ring goes back on as a lid to stop the salt washing away.
 9. You may have already considered it but a container that keeps water out will also keep it in. Make sure ropes etc are throughly dried after use or they'll get furry.
 10.

Sorry for delay in responding. Only just found this conversation as I use the mobile app.

After leaving the RN I went into railway tree work for 11months then 6months of domestic. I quit that to do retained firefighter training. I walked into another tree job once that had finished and that's where I've been for the last 9months. I've been trying to source my own work but without the capital to buy a truck I've not been trying too hard

Courses wise I did the combined course at Kingswood I think it's about £4000

Climbing kit will set you back about £600. Plus about £300 for spikes and flip line

Saws - climbing and ground saw around £1200 depending on what model

PPE was around £400

 12. If it's damp I try to find a corner to wedge it in. If dry I can sit cross legged with the upper leg supporting against the push of the file
 13. I can wholeheartedly recommend Kingswood. They have friendly, professional staff. It's about an hour from Essex http://www.kingswoodtraining.com/
 14. Add a comment along the lines of work I completed whist working with ******
 15. A shout out for Meindl airstreams. I was pushing the trailer hitch with the TR6 on to the towball. Only a few inches off when the the jockey wheel slid through the clamp. The a frame slid down my shin and rested on top of my boot. Although I couldn't move my foot it didn't hurt as the boot had the weight. Jono to the rescue with a length of wood to lever it off. Readjusted the jockey wheel and made sure the clamp was TIGHT.
 16. I wouldn't mind one of these trailers. https://www.riko-uk.com/doc/pdt/FastTowTraileretc16062010.pdf
 17. Think about weed suppression. I believe some woods are planted closer early on to help, this adds earlier height and naturally removes the weeker trees. Another point on weeds is if using strimmers what's an average swing? plant at that, as wider will be less efficient when strimming and closer increases risk of tree strike
 18. Just bought pancake ingredients and a whisk. When I got home I found I already had a whisk in the draw. Knew I should have done a whisk assessment.
 19. It's good if you can suss it, it saves bending to remove the rope. Keep your pantin inline with the fall of the rope 👍🏼 If I can get my rope up/after a break I use a right foot pantin and hand ascender with a foot strop to the left strop.
 20. I'm not a fan of the sequoia, I used it for my course a few years ago and I had sore hips/ back in the kidney area. I can't comment on the tree motion, but I use a stein vega. It has a bigger back than the sequoia and I've not had any problems. If I had to replace it is get a Vega plus as this has padded legs
 21. You might need to check the battery. All that is required on a chipper battery is to start, if you start using it to shift it with motormover it could drain it quicker
 22. Make sure your squared away with your books then put it in. If they say no what you lost? If the say yes winner and get them courses book on an annual basis 😉
 23. Split when green, then there's more surface area for moisture loss so they dry quicker
