  1. How does the ZigZag cmpare to the Spiderjack?
  2. Hmm I have never used any of these sorts of gizmos to see if it actually is an improvement. If something is mechanical and has moving parts then it is possible it will fail in some way. But I am a Luddite.
  3. Why do people buy these sort of things when all it seems to replace is a Prussik loop? The traditional being cheaper and likely more reliable?
  4. This seems like good value.... Qualcast Petrol Chainsaw - 45cc
  5. It was on the ratings on the 3M website. The helmet mounted versions were 1db or so less than the headband equivalents. With CS 38 39 coming up am looking for a decent climbing lid and ear defender set up from the outset you see
  6. So those here with the Pfanner helmet set do you find the hearing protection inadequate on this helmet?
  7. I was for a while involved in bat surveys at height. We also used thermal imaging cameras by FLIR to monitor the comings and going of the bats and also the heat given off from nesting. Very interesting assignment.
  8. This was what crossed my mind. But would it survive outside in our climate? Cobalt T one of the most beautiful creations of nature
  9. A quick search on here brought up a thread about the Pfanner helmets. A concern was raised on the thread about the rating of the defenders with reference to use of chipper.
  10. I am searching for a lid. Like the idea and concept of the Pfanner system but have concerns about the hearing protection rating. Particularly for the price. I am thinking of a more customized lid say a vertex vent with SNR30/33 and vizor
  11. When you are using a Woodchipper what SNR protection do you use? I have been reading an HSE document that recommends SNR30 for most of the Woodchipper models tested. I notice that many helmets incorporating ear protections seem to have lower ratings - such as the Pfanner Protos which is SNR26. The Husqvarna helmet mounted rated the same. The 3M Peltor website also shows that protection rating reduces when the device becomes helmet mounted too. Do you generally use a second set of ear defenders for wood chipping or do you carry on using the ones connected to a climbing helmet that are rated below 30SNR?
  12. How do you guys get on if the nearest supplier is not really easy to get to in terms of how far they are away from your location? Arguably I could go to FR Jones but it is a train trip there.
  13. Bahhh Sorry seems this range has been talked about on here already. I must remember to search on forums http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/news/73873-new-arbortec-breatheflex-chainsaw-trousers.html
  14. I hears about this on Radio 4 Farming Today. Was a sad thing to listen to.
