Hi we have a SIP mig with an argon mix from our auto spares shop everyone who has used it says it’s one of the best welders they have used , I am not good at welding sculpture I can do , and I find it an easy machine to use , my mate has a warrior inverter mig and that’s a lot harder to get on with , if you are near Shaftesbury Dorset come and have a go see what you think Cheers Mark
  2. Hi I use that sexys chain oil and as Bill says by the time you have sanded the piece there shouldn’t be any chain oil fling on it , it can be a pain sometimes but hey

And ladders look what a ladder did to me back in January, yeah those grinder things can be lethal King Arthur’s wheel I think they are called mine is , make sure you have the guard and handle on the grinder there have been some horrific accidents with those things I have a solid one with chainsaw cutters sort of shaped into it as well they both mostly sit on rack getting dusty

  7. If you have the cash defo buy it you can always buy in saw logs for cladding , and if you keep it in good nic you can always sell it on when done but I bet you don’t milling is addictive , I have been trying to get the money together for a mill but not had a good year , go for it good luck
  8. Do you think it may be the weight of the power head as I have noticed a very slight bow and taking the weight off the power head solved it , just a thought Cheers Mark

Funny all these negative comments I am sure I have read posts on hear with people saying it’s ok for furniture and has cool grain pattern I am sure I have seen some photos of some stunning looking boards of turkey oak , be cool to slab a few boards to see what it’s like then carve the rest into a bench .
  10. I feel for you it’s only 3/4 weeks since I had my saws stolen , still struggling to replace them I didn’t have insurance either , and the bloody old bill were as much help as a chocolate tea pot
  11. Hi , like Rick said box out the heart wood , or you could try ratchet strapping the log together after you’ve milled and snickered it grounch them up as tight as you can and let it dry , good luck do let us know how you get on Cheers Mark

Hi Guys thanks ever so much for all you support and offers of kit to borrow it means a lot , But at last some luck I got my Alaskan Mill back yesterday a friend told my girlfriend about a frame they were shown stashed in some scrubland so went and had a look and f##k me there it was , but the matey is very reluctant to give me a name .
  15. I love my old trucks the last one I had was an AEC Militant 6x4 , built in 1956 it was hot , noisy no power steering and an absolute joy to drive I so wish I never sold it .

Hi guys how many of you like me suffer from white finger , quite a few I expect so I have been using anti vibe gloves ( when I can find them Ha ha ) but they have now worn out and I have been looking at getting some new ones but price ranges from a £10 to £50 and they don’t look that different so before I buy any thought I would find out what everyone else thinks , or buys Thanks Mark
  19. Hi guys I just got a big saw delivered by parcel force and it only took 2 days to get hear from up north but don’t know how much it cost , have used myhermies and they were ok ish once they actually found my yard and that took a few goes . Cheers Mark

Hi guys a transformer from an oil burner , like oil fired central heating I have been told that these are quite safe well ish have a look at them all encased in plastic I am looking out for a cheep used one will report on it as soon as I get one , be safe with this shit as it can quite easily F##k up your day Cheers Mark

  23. Hi Bill , that ladder looks like it has a bend in it and there are not many wedges between the ladder and log this might allow the ladder to bow as you put weight on it, might be the cause.

The thing is the F###ing plod have time any money to pot up at where the speed limit changes coming into my village , it’s a small village no boy racers so the only reason I can see for them to be there to catch small builders , average people doing a few miles over the limit , I have a description of the van a name of a suspect and still nothing from the plod but if me and my mates catch up with this little c##t and give him what he deserves I run the risk of getting nicked , it is a sign of the times we live in more stuff getting chored , but if the pod can’t or wouldn’t do anything about we have to have the right to look out for our expensive tools somethings got to give how many of us on hear have been robbed , too many anyway rant over but I bet you all agree with me
