  1. Hi not at my yard till Saturday but it has one big feed roller on the infeed side and an anti kickback rail then the big drum with the blades in and as far as I can tell its all working as it should the feed rollers have a fast/slow and that works the bed can be moved up and down by hand or power rise and fall all that works ,I measured all the gaps to make sure the bed was flat and it was ,could it be the knifes not being set right ? But cant see how that would happen as I have the setting tool ,it will take a very shallow skim and thats it but a big machine like that should chew through the timber day after day ,its totally doing my head in but over the weekend I will hopefully get a chance to download that manual and have a good read ,I rang the people who bought Wadkin and they were less than helpfull actually expected me to believe they didnt get any workshop manuals .
  2. Robina is that falce accaia if I remember right ,very nice timbed would love a few sawlogs of it for sure a real nice golden sheen in the sun .
  3. Hi yeah it used to work fine but now the timber gets kinda stuck and I have to lower the depth of cut to hardly anything before it will carry on feeding through .
  4. Cool thanks
  5. Yeah its a cool feeling seeing the boards you have milled used in something just like the office I am doing at the mo ,went to the woods collected the logs Coast Redwood and now all milled planed sanded and jointed and going up on the wall ,some photos in Woodcraft if anyone wants to see .
  6. Hi does anybody know much about big old Wadkin planers my 24 inch wide one just isnt right and sadly the mobile engineer who helped me with it before killed himself , I have just changed the blades ,renewed the funny clutch plate thing but its just not planing I tried to put a short Apple wood board through it and it woudlnt take hardly anything off it I had to drop the table as it got stuck and its the same with other timbers when I first had it ,no worries and nothings changed so a bit baffled any ideas ? Thanks. Mark
  7. Yeah something like that would be a god send in my yard for sure but everything I see like that is stupid money
  8. Yeah was thinking OSMO UV or a water based lacqure ,wax polish would be cool but it would take so long to do
  9. Hi yeah first cut all the boards the same width, then thicknessed then surface planed one side then orbital 120 grit then half lapped the edges so by that stage the edges only needed a quick go with the hand sandpaper so in all a big job and cutting round the plug sockets and windows was a bit of a ball ache ,but not sure what finish to go with .Glad you like it a bit of a shame it didnt get many comments though
  10. With a bit of notice,Paul Courage at Hazelbury yeah we know he can be a funny bugger didnt speak to me for yrs but all good now.
  11. Hi Jon where did you get them from should have asked me for some but a shame you didn’t have time to pop in ,our cladding is Coast Redwood so it’s very pink and white but not sure what the treatment to use on it
  12. For some reason the colour seems off in the photos as its Redwood will check the settings on my camera and take some more ,
  13. So this has been a big job first we went to the woods and chose the logs then milled them dried them cut ,planned, sanded and now fitting them so now I will try and get some photos uploaded
  14. Give Stephen Cull The Blademaster a call
  15. Thanks guys I am still not sure whether or not to make some
  16. Hi so doing a bit of a clear out at home I came across a big bag of T Lights ,and obviously at the yard I have more off cuts than I know what to do with ,so does anyone hear make T Light holders do they sell are they worth buggering around with I dont like them myself but if I can make a few quid or would I be better off giving them away ,just thought I would see what everyones thoughts are . Cheers. Mark
  17. You could try drilling a hole up the inside of it in the middle it may release some of the tension inside on relief carvings we used to carve slots down the back to stop cracking .
  18. So what will happen with those Greenheart beams that were pulled out I dont suppose there is any chance of a couple of them coming down south I would love enough to make a dining table its one of my fave timbers
  19. Its a real shame that they are not worth the time and hassle that old kit is so well made my big thicknesser is older than me and is still going strong .
  20. Hi not used that one but have other Arbotech attachments and to be honest they just aint that good ,the Ball Cutter is crap and I think we have another 2 things they just stay in the box ,if you want I can take a vid of them in use or if you are
  21. NICE
  22. Funny how things happen I have a call back from them tomorrow they wanted to have a look at our website and get back to me but now I have read this then I will not be giving them any cash for sure Nice one guys
  23. Got to be worth a grand just for the saw I dont get this it aint as powerfull but hey,I have an 880 with only 5/6 hrs use on it got as a replacement after we were burgled and there is no way I would let it go for under a grand but thats what I think other people will think different but they aint perfect like me
  24. Milling Greenheart the only timber my 880 and Alaskan bounced off normally the chain will feed itself into the cut but Greenheart I had to kinda propper make it cut into it but when it was in the cut it wasnt too bad ,comes up real nice put through a planer .I would defo have a go at milling some more but not enough to build a house though but a nice dining table would be cool
  25. Cool Ace Work
