  1. And me, I started driving land rovers and other trucks the afternoon I passed my test, since then I have only had a 2wd for about 6 weeks, and that wAs always rammed full of tools and materials.
  2. Woke up at 5:45 today and yesterday, for no reason at all.
  3. Has anyone got a tractor log splitter that can do lengths of about 1 meter and also works well with short, knotty rings? Thanks, William.
  4. I made this, and apart from about an hours work and a couple of welding rods it was all free
  5. My digger with the tooth and thumb clearing up a big wind blown poplar, so easy! Was going really well until I tore a hose, took 10 minutes to replace but 20 minutes to get in and out of all the gates in the field.
  6. Has anyone fitted there car/van with an aftermarket radio that has a built in sat nav and hands free kit? If so, where from and what make? It will have to be a single din unit that has the screen that pops out. Thanks, William.
  7. The 3.0 is 157hp, and it's poor reputation makes it the best value 4x4 you can buy as far as I'm concerned, I will be buying another this week or next.
  8. In general I use both, i chop and change between them as I split. I only have a cheap axe and a stihl maiul head on a replacement handle, I mean to get an x27 one day but only seem to see x25s for sale round here.
  9. Yes they. Are slow(pre td5 anyway), noisey and leaky, but that can't come as a surprise to any one who has done the tiniest bit of research. Mine is 25 years old, currently only 2wd and the cab leaks like a sieve but I know I can take it out, load it up to its full 7 ton train weight and plod. Along keeping up with lorrys all day long. To put it in perspective the other day I watched a 10 year old ldv with 1 ton of soil on and no trailer go up the hill outside my barn and it needed 1ST gear to make it to the top, my land rover can be at maximum train weight and. Go up the same hill in 3RD, and it's 15 years older!!
  10. Because a transit/defender/pick up with a chipper on the tow bar can deal with about 1000kg of chip(leAgally), while towing a trailer that weighs a third of what it can tow. Put the chipper on the truck and spec a lightweight 3.5 ton trailer and you could deal with up to 2.75 ton of chip in one go? It would have to be very well designed and laid out though.
  11. Only seem to be able to attach one picture at a time at the moment.
  12. Thumb welded on, more of it painted green and this bag lifter made:thumbup1:
  13. 235/85 bf MUDs for me, writing definatley on the outside!
  14. Well it wasn't in the timescale I mentioned above but I finally got one it's currently half way through a coat of paint that I haven't had time to finish( maybe tommorow) and I keep forgetting to take pictures of it working. It has already dug out and levelled about 250 tonnes of soil and type one, and earned a 7th of its purchase price in a week:thumbup1: I have got an rsl ripping tooth which is brilliant, and a thumb which I really must get fitted as I have a big poplar tree to clear up in the next couple of weeks.
  15. No security gaurd or something.
  16. My truck
  17. My truck with 2 tons of soil, only going round the back of a job where the lorry couldn't get and a truck I saw on the road a few days ago.
  18. I had a tipper pump and tank from them last year for my defender, very cheap and has been tipping about 2 ton loads recently without trouble, wasn't very well packaged for delivery though.
  19. these prices still seem too cheap to me, i charge £20 an hour for the majority of jobs and if i need to use bigger stuff like the 076 or 25 inch 461 or the land rovers winch or a quad bike etc it will be nearer to £30. the hourly rate is offered and the customer can take it or leave it, they usually take it and say things like what a nice job or you have done so much in just a couple of hours. altough this is for land owners, not farmers, so they have a slightly different attitude to money, but my costs are the same regardless of the customer. going back to underpricing, grubbing out domestic hedges seems to be my looser, they seem to quadruple in size, meaning which ever trailer i have isnt anywhere near big enough. i dont like to think about all the return trips for yet another load i have done after every one else has been at home for an hour:lol:
  20. Older Honda civic seats fit quite well, type r or s type, depending on how sporty you want them. But I have gone back to standard as it was too iritatating not having access to the tool box and battery and when you work on the transmission through the panel in the middle the seats get ruined.
  21. Yea I won't argue with you there, nowadays when I know I have a job like that to do I borrow a 3/4 drive to crack the nuts off with first.
  22. I have hung off. A 4 foot pole on my bahco ratchet with no breakages or rounding off. I just brought a big bahco set from BOC (the gas suppliers) for £140 as I was feed up with not having sockets, spammers, screwdrivers and Allen keys all in one organised case.
  23. The paint won't be peeling off mine in a hurry when we do it!
  24. Also what are people's opinions on painted diggers? It needs a coat of paint and I am thinking about painting it the same colours as my land rover in the same sort is scheme as this. I think it will look smart and might act as a bit of a theft deterrent? Or should I stick to the original colours.
