  1. I went for the bog standard rsl manual thumb and ripper tooth, I plan on getting a grapple and rake combo at some point but always wanted the thumb to avoid any "I wish I had the grab with me" scenarios on general digging jobs where I might not have had the room to take a special grab with me.
  2. I think I will try £30 an hour all in and see how it goes. All the kit has been bought for my own use and is paid for outright so it doesn't have to be used for the sake of using it, wearing it out for less profit than I get for using a load of hand tools fencing! Thanks for the responses.
  3. Will pm you now, thanks a lot
  4. Roughly how much per hour would be a good price for a man and 4x4 quad for things like rolling, harrowing and trailer work? Thanks, William.
  5. Id make excellent use of them if they are still available please! Thanks and no worries if they are taken.
  6. I suppose I cou put an Anderson plug to the rear and that could charge the tipper battery while I'm driving and provide power from the truck when I'm tipping. They are always useful to have anyway.
  7. Amazing what you can move with a 130 when you haven't got to go on the road, I dumped an 8wheelers worth of type 1 in 8 loads with mine last year and regularly used to have 2 bulk bags hiabed onto it to get them round the back of jobs
  8. I went into fr Jones with an open mind between the 461 and 661, completely prepared to buy either and came away with the 461. I have had no reason to regret it as with an 18inch bar it is fine for day to day use and it pulls the 25 inch bar lovely, I have cut up more than 1 4ft trunk with it.
  9. I have thought about that, they work ok then? Thanks
  10. How do people charge the battery on their tipping trailers, apart from the obvious mains charger overnight? And does anyone have extras like work lights, flashers or 12v sockets on their trailers? And if you do how are they powered and controlled? thanks, William.
  11. That's a shame, I had an older yanmar 1.5 on hire for a month a couple of years ago and it was very powerful, recovered my Land Rover tipper from a big rut, loaded 2 half ton logs onto the Land Rover and towed a big trailer out the mud. I thought it was better than my kubota and on a par with a Volvo or Takeuchi, a shame if the current model isn't up to scratch.

    Trailers

Day in day out it would destroy it, but it can take it occasionally. I would not plan on putting that much weight on it but sometimes it happens. We had 1 pair of wheel bearings and 1 set of hubs in 12 years and after a bit of body repairs it is still going strong and does still get used despite having a newer p6 and the other bigger trailers.

    Trailers

I still stand by my original post that they are a very useful tool and if you only ever want to cut grass or deliver logs it will do you fine but if you want to do tree work, fencing, building, collect timber for logging or not dependent on others to deliver for you you need bigger as well. And when you do go bigger 1 is not enough- I traded my 14 by 6 flatbed for a 10 by 5 tipper last year and love the tipper, but you cannot get a car or tractor on it and when the digger is on it there is a 1000kg of capacity left but no room. So I am in the process of buying another(much newer) 14 by 6. And when that is paid for I will probably start looking for a dedicated digger trailer with a low(2000)kg gross weight so it can be pulled by an older pick up or my mates van. It's all good fun though:)

    Trailers

Had one weigh bridge ticket for my p6 once at 1300kg oops! To be fair we genuinely had no idea it was that high as it was only 4 large pieces of rock which 2 of us levered and man handled on with ease and it was still not noticeable behind our ford ranger.

    Trailers

Get yourself an ifor williams p6e with mesh sides, you should have no trouble what so ever pulling or stopping it with your pick up, it will take the mower, 2 bulk bags of logs or big piles of brash. They are very well made and can handle a lot of abuse so would last even longer if you don't. I never thought I would use it after I passed my trailer test but I ended up buying a second one a few months ago. But: Get your trailer test done as soon as you can, it will make life much easier. Happy shopping!
  16. Billeted about 3 tons of London plane today, not a wood I have had before but it split and sawed very nicely, what tis it like to burn once properly seasoned?
  17. It says on the website that they are now £900(presumably plus vat?)? I will be very interested to here how you get on with it as It might well be a good machine for me.
  18. What sort of prices are you thinking?
  19. I've driven my mf35 10 or more miles to a topping job, 2 fleeces on, waterproofs, tools and lunch in a big rucksack on my back:thumbup1: good fun for the first few miles:001_rolleyes:
  20. I'd like a like button ha! One problem I do have is I can never get more than one photo to attach at a time, as I am attaching them it seems fine, then when I post it only one picture comes up. Then I need to add more posts for my original post to make sense-as in if I have written I felled this, then processed this and finished up by fixing this and only the picture of the last job comes up it won't make sense? This is posts from my phone and iPad.
  21. I dug a short trench for planting with the ripper tooth and dug out athe base for a cricket net with my little digger today then used the soil from the base to build a ramp up a bank so the houses ride on mower can be reversed up and tip behind the bank.::thumbup1:the job went really well but then the digger developed a weep on the bucket ram and then the (hired) tracked dumper sprung a full on leak:thumbdown:
  22. I think it is excellent as it is, but obviously changes have to be made to keep systems working. I find it very easy to read navigate on my iPad, iPod or phone using the normal website. I like the idea of classified ads coming back as i have never found arb trader as easy to use as the main site, keep up the good work and thanks for a great site.

    Prices

£50 for bulk bags or 1 cubic meter bags?
  24. I never ever, ever thought I would sell my 127 tipper, (I had had it 14years) but I did last year and don't regret it anywhere near as much as I thought I would, the money I got for it paid for a great ifor williams tipper:001_huh:
