  1. Going a bit smaller for a while, what attachments do people have for there 1.5 ton mini diggers? I'm going to get a ripper tooth, thumb and a grapple, and buckets obviously, but what about: Log splitters, post hole borers, timber grabs, hen peckers, rakes and things that hook on the blade. Mainly out of curiosity, so pictures would be good please:thumbup:
  2. We'll I've paid a deposit...
  3. We are going to go back for another look focusing on the cooling system, I had a look at at another one yesterday and it was nearly twice the price and apart from the obvious and the paint work there's no way it was twice as good. So the first one is defiantly worth more investigation.
  4. Just based that price on how much we paid to have one about twice the size of the digger one done last summer, my mechanice was really impressed by the service we got and he is never impressed by anything!
  5. Oil was good with no deposits, struggling to make my mind up. I took my mechanic with me and he was happy with the condition of it all, apart from this leak obviously. Like the idea of buying one that leaves money in the pot even before I have started earning with it, if I buy one that seems in perfect condition using all my budget there's no saying that won't blow its rad on the first mornings work, if that makes sense?
  6. I have seen a little kubota I like, serviced, it was reAsonable hours, quite tight and all worked, but: It had a hole in the radiator. It would cost less than a £100 quid to get ithe rad over hauled and an afternoons work, if that, to get me a decent digger without driving the length of the country. If I made the offer I'm thinking of it would let me get the digger, repair it, fit a grapple and put a £1000 aside straight away for looking after it with. What do. People think, should I make an offer or walk away? Thanks, William.
  7. That's what I thought about dust with horses, but some people do seem to sell it to horse people.
  8. We have been cutting Swedish candles today, making big long, stringy sawdust, bags and bags of it. It burns like made from the touch of a lighter so I might try selling some as tinder when we are selling the candles, has anyone done that? Is it ok to use in the cows pen as bedding? Does anyone mix there sawdust with soil and make there own compost/soil? Thanks, William.
  9. Mine is a sealey and has the web on the top, it cost a bit more but was with me within 24 hours. I think the back of the upright is a better place for the winch than on the arm as is should spread some of the strain onto the upright?
  10. Hello Mike, I have just forwarded you a (positive) message I sent another member about these cranes.
  11. The problem is that what I really need is a digger for landscaping, clearing trees etc, so I need to spend the money on the digger and use it to help cut down on the handling of the logs where I can. Then I'll look at maybe getting a leaf loading machine next year, although since I decided to get a digger I keep seeing cheep rough terrain forklifts!
  12. Thanks for the answers, suspected that would be the case. I am now going back to my original plan of buying a 1.5 ton mini digger, completely different to the machines listed above but much more usefull for so much else including (hand) processing the logs. I will just carry on with my pallet forks on the tractor and hand crane on the truck for moving the bags for the minute, and maybe get a 3pl forklift for the mf 35 when I have put it back together!
  13. What sort of side slope can you safely operate a bobcat and a forklift on? I am trying to mechanise my log handling but the barn floor has a 1in 10 side slope(measured it yesterday) and is too narrow for a telehandler or tractor loader. Also what sort of height and weight can a small-medium bobcat lift?
  14. Where abouts are you? I'd only really be after about 2 ton at the most. Thanks.
  15. Could anyone around Hertfordshire supply me with a couple of ton of nice straight softwood, ideally at least partly seasoned and between 5 and 10 inches diameter? I can collect if it helps? Thanks, William.
  16. Can you get .7m vented bags as I could like to switch to them as it would cut down loads of handling if I could split straight into bags and then stack them. This would also have storiage bennifits and I would know exactly how much I had ready to sell. I don't think 1meter bags would suit my customers or me really.
  17. Stick with a 300 Jon, I have. A 200 and I will be changing it to a 300 when it starts to give me trouble.
  18. If I liked it after a thorough test drive and look over it would be worth that to me, whether it is to you is up to you!

I had one and hated it for years, one day I drilled a few holes in the exhaust pipe and tuned it to suit, love it now.
  20. Every time I took out one of the supporting limbs another bit dropped down to perfect ringing up height, lovely way to spend an afternoon.
  21. it's a great bit of kit, but it's nice to get all the big rings cut in a tank or 2 of fuel then switch to something little like a 461 on a 25inch bar:lol:
  22. The tree
  23. Please be gentle, I'm only a log selling farmer type:lol: about a 30 inch dead oak.
  24. Only got 5 bulk bags left and 2 of them are going this afternoon! Still I only had 50 to start with:lol: Got quite a lot stacked ready for next year though, hoping to do 100 bags next year.
