  1. I like that picture. The other day I was towing 3.5 tonnes with my 6 speed manual 2.4 125hp mud tyred 110, down a duel carriage waythen I went on a long run in my Auto 3.0 155hp road tyred isuzu trooper. They were cruising at the same speed and doing they same rpm, but the trooper was the best part of 4 tonnes lighter!! So autos certainly have an impact! As for alternatives to a defender, I'd say used defender:lol: Or a d max, every other pick up seems over inflated and plastic to me.
  2. Thanks for all the answers, I was meaning the price for the land, all interesting to know though.
  3. morning Ian, I'd be very interested in buying some, would you be able to do 6 tonnes like last time or I could have 9 if you have it available? Thanks, William.
  4. Just out of curiosity how much is about an acre of hornbeam coppice woodland worth, in the south East? Thanks
  5. I've had one for a few years, found it in a bargain bin At b and q, it was reduced so much the log jaws cost as much as the bench! I like using it for things like mounting my chop saw on and logging up thinner branches.
  6. I once moved a full skip of hardcore like that, jacked up one end, dropped it on poles and towed it 50yards with my defender, the people who lived in the house were amazed to the point that I think I muttered something about the building of the pyramids:lol:
  7. They certainly are, drove 400miles last Friday with the heater seized on, had to have the window open all the way:lol:
  8. I thought the first couple of series of citizen Kahn were ok but the latest episode was drivel. Does anyone else watch detectorists? I really like that one.
  9. I saw these and asked the price, before He told me the bloke started laughing and said you won't want any haha
  10. My special vehicles 110 is currently on eBay if anyone wants a 3500kg hardtop. Land Rover Defender 110 Hd Van, 3500kg, No Vat, Tipper, Conversion . | eBay
  11. What he said, but get a nice top spec citation with heated seats, electric everything etc. loads of room for gear even with 4 seats, capable of decent speed and economy for their size and age. So manoverable with a trailer but I find that the trailer has to be loaded spot on because of the short wheelbase. Oh and they are very cheap.
  12. I have a price of wood that wedges between the cab and the pedal. I run my splitter off my 1.5 ton kubota and it works very well, not the most powerful but nice and user friendly, barely uses any fuel and you can hear the radio over it.
  13. When I work away we get all our food paid for, continental breakfast, some sort of lunch and 2 course dinner and a couple of beers. So £20-30 sounds about right if you are paying for it yourself?
  14. There's more than it looks in that photo, I wouldn't want to put it all on my Land Rover and trailrer in one go, but I co be wrong, thanks.
  15. I have about 24 sycamore rings of between 25 and 30 inches by about 9-10inches and a 10ish foot length that are too big for my splitter and are currently getting in my way. I don't have the time to deal with them and they are starting to get in the way, so if anyone wants them they can have them if they collect, basically for free(but if you wanted to give me a couple of quid I wo say no!). I reckon there is about 5 ton in weight and I can load onto tippers and trailers (not lorrys) with my digger. Thanks, William.
  16. Can you successfully weld up a diff pan without first taking the diff out? As in just drain the oil out, grind, weld and refill with oil or does the diff need to come out? Thanks, William.
  17. I'm now starting to plan doing this, aside from the obvious of head, turbo and manifold what else should be on my shopping list e.g. Injectors and pipes? Also what do I need to sort out the timing belt and make that work with the 300 rockershaft? Thanks, William.
  18. Did 5 bags on Friday and 8 on Saturday, all to regular customers who had there stores filled right up which has been handy to give me a bit of extra space.
  19. I had a Load of 1 meter by about 30 cm logs on my trailer, put my one of them on the end of the trailer, so that the logs land on the trailer after they are cut, I climbed up and used it while my mate was on the floor picking up the rings from the trailer and putting them through the splitter, worked very well.
  20. I spend about a third of my working time putting in generators, duct work and acoustic enclusures(only the unskilled bits), which is quite interesting. But I ofer think I would like to be a mobile plant mechanic, not that I ever could be.
  21. ::001_ my tipper is now on eBay Land Rover Defender 127/130 Tipper. | eBay
  22. Can you not insure it as a second or third car, limited mileage and just pop to the shops or whatever in it, my mate only pays £100 for his defender , limited mileage and all mods declared?
  23. Should just be easy stuff going through when both machines are going. I plan on me using the digger to position the rings in the hydraulic splitter while my mate runs the levers, then when they have been bust down to manageable sizes we can both do easy bits then I can do the knotty bits on the cone while he clears up a bit. It's all 3ft sycamore rings.
  24. As above, I plan to run my cone and hydraulic splitters at the same time, off my 60hp massey tommorow, is there any reason why I can't? Thanks.
