  1. 75nm is approx 7.5KG force metres. So the difference is the equivalent of putting an extra weight of 7.5KG one metre from the point you're trying to rotate. Not really sure that helps, reading it back!
  2. Thanks Bob, will PM you.
  3. Plus one. Apple kit is shiny, and does the basics well - but I find it infuriating to do certain things that Windows / Linux / Android do immediately out of the box. (For example, sorting images by date / name - I believe you can get an app to do this, but why on earth should I? I'll decide how to organise my files thanks, not Apple). It's also very over priced for the spec of the underlying hardware. My dad moved from a PC to a Mac laptop, and hates it, finds it very unintuitive.
  4. Nope, it was a guess! Not a very good one it would seem. Unfortunately, £70 is still really too much - think the table will have to be retired. Thanks for the offer Muttley - not sure if I'm capable of making a decent table from scratch, but might be interesting to try...
  5. Thanks Steve, and for the useful durability chart. I'm guessing that a single table leg would use between 1 and 2 ft3 of wood? If so, makore is out of my budget by quite a way - cheers though. Will see if I can get hold of a sleeper (thanks Alec, hadn't thought of that) cheaper! Having looked at the table again, tbink the top might be past it anyway...
  6. Thanks chaps. If you can pm me prices (delivered or collected) I'll see if it would be workable. Seventh, is makore long lasting in outdoor environments?
  7. Hi all Bit of a long shot perhaps, but I'm looking for 4 pieces of wood to make replacement legs for a garden table. I'd like something that will last, so sweet chestnut, larch, western red cedar? Or other suggestions? (The bottom of the legs will be in contact with cement / earth / leaves, which is often wet). I need pieces about 12-15cm diameter (at the thick end), and 1m ish long. Unseasoned would do I think. Any thoughts or options, or can anyone supply suitable wood? Including prices? Not a huge amount of budget I fear as the rest of the table is not in great shape, but would be good to keep it going a bit longer if possible. I'm in Bristol. Many thanks.
  8. Hi Jon My fan does the same (or similar), at less than half the price! I guess the proper ecofan might move more air - I'd like to compare the two... Mind you, my woodburner is lower output than 15KW too.
  9. Got a cheapy one off Amazon, £45 odd, and it definitely makes a difference. Would be interested to compare to a genuine ecofan, but not sure how much better it could be for the extra cost...
  10. Cheers, works now. Looks impressively swift.
  11. Can't view the video Big J? "Content not available at the moment". Might be only visible to your friends...
  12. Nice work. I prefer the big copper nails myself.
  13. Did you treat the bottom beams (the ones directly on the ground) with anything to make them last? Or if they're pressure treated anyway, will they last OK? They look good.
  14. Really like the first one, locely.
  15. Thought it was to do with a specific fungus in the tree?

  17. Some good options on that web site. Would you mind giving me a rough idea of the price for a full set up? Thanks.
  18. I'd have thought you'd need to be careful with importing fresh cut wood - risk of diseases and pests. Though as Malta doesn't have many trees of their own perhaps they're not so concerned! Nice place to live.
  19. Hyacinths in flower in my garden!!
  20. Good to see
  21. That's useful to know. I assume it's just sliding table saws that will come with a fence, not just any old circular saw bench? Wondering about maximising use of wood in the future, and would be good to have the option to rip into posts or planks rather than just crosscutting everything... Thanks.
  22. Biscuit joint 'er? I ardly know 'er!
  23. Agreed.
  24. Have a look at puntgunning Chap built his own punt gun and punt from scratch!
