  1. I like that, an annoying catchy earworm indeed.
  2. I've split a lot of wood with a Forest Master 7 ton duocut. Electric. Not too pricey I think, though I borrow it as it happens. Probably not as good as a more powerful petrol splitter, but works for me for a medium volume of logs - 10m3 per year maybe.
  3. Just bedding in? Might stop after a mile or two?
  4. I started using Briggs & Stratton fuel saver in my various 2t and 4t kit last year. I didn't drain anything down for winter as I usually would, but everything has started this year without trouble. So far so good.
  5. If anyone's interested I'm selling a 20 bore Hushpower shotgun and a CZ511 semi automatic in .22lr. Chepstow area. Long shot (ha), I appreciate!
  6. Thanks OSM I use a Truncator for processing small stuff in bulk, holds say 8 or 10 x 10cm poles at a time. Make 4 or 5 cuts through the lot, and pour the logs from the individual cups into a wheelbarrow, then stack. Sometimes I even stripe the poles if I'm not going to split them. Luxury!
  7. I've been quoted £180 delivered for 2m3 of semi seasoned unprocessed coppice poles. Doesn't sound too bad to me, though usually I find my own wood and process it myself. Also finding it hard to visualise what 2M3 of coppice poles would actually look like on my drive. Don't think i'm very good at estimating volume.

    Itton log drop

I will pay for logs! Amount varies from beer to actual folding money, depending on volume, species, size of logs etc. (Thinner logs and smaller pieces are generally easier for me to handle). I will take hardwood and softwood or a mixture, and also a limited amount of woodchip, preferably seasoned rather than fresh. I will ideally need a bit of advance notice, and you will need to contact me via Arbtalk for directions. There are access limitations - max vehicle size is approx 8 foot wide. Note that dot on map and postcode are not exact, just a guide. Thanks.
  9. Thanks Steve, but I don't have the option to delete, just to edit? Desktop PC, Firefox browser...
  10. Hi Steve Sorry if I'm being an idiot, but is there a way to change a free tip site to a paid tip site? And if not, how do I delete my existing free tip site to set up a paid tip site? I've edited my existing site but can't see a way to delete it altogether. Thank you.
  11. That's kind of the point of pottering. I go out to the garage to fuel a hedge cutter to trim the hedge. But the tractor is in the way, so I try to start the tractor to move it, but the battery's flat. So I go looking for the charger. Have a cup of tea, eventually find charger, plug tractor battery in. But the shelf the battery charger was on is slightly broken, so start fixing that in a leisurely way. Then the wife or / and kids come home, or the phone rings, so nothing else gets done. And I realise I forgot to turn the battery charger on after plugging the tractor battery in!
  12. Fair point. I burn 5 - 10m3 per year I'd say, so can cope with a fair amount. Easier to process and fit if it comes as several smaller loads rather than one big load, perhaps.
  13. Hi folks Looking into the possibility of buying a (smallish) load of unseasoned, unprocessed wood near Chepstow. Don't mind species really, including conifers - as long as the price reflects this. (Not horse chestnut or poplar, perhaps) Ideally nothing larger than 30cm diameter ish - coppice poles would be OK! This is to process and burn myself, the winter after next. Access isn't great, 8 foot wide maximum over a small bridge... Anyone local have anything like this? Cash waiting. I'm on the tip site but nothing has ever come of it... Thanks.
  14. Too late! The gone off sardines are mine!
  15. What's the minimum order, Steve? Personal use only (four or five bags maybe) and delivered to Chepstow? I'm going to guess not worth it for small volumes! Better to find a local supplier. Have a bump anyway!
  16. Sounds good. You have been blessed by the plum gods! I'd say 70% of ours have maggots, usually.
  17. What did you make? We have a very prolific plum tree here, but the moth maggots get a good proportion of them.
  18. Hooray! This is pretty exciting! Will pm you my address for the gone off sardines 😎
  19. It makes it dill-dough!
