  1. Or more likely he hasn’t posted back because he has thought why did i waste my time posting for work if i’am only going to get replies regarding my spelling.
  2. Who gives a flying fuck about spelling and good grammar....he has got more qualifications then yo can shake a stick at and looks like he would be an asset for the right company...the guy has put himself out there on a site which he thinks may help...think he wished he hadn’t of bothered now....I’ll wait for the back lash,
  3. What you have to remember is you are looking at trucks that are 19 & 15 years old...sometimes this gets forgotten, any work vehicles that have been used for what they’ve been made for will have issues.need to look for late 2008 on wards.
  4. Any modal after 2011/12 and up to 2015/16 had issues as Ford kinder took there eye of the ball.but as an overall work Truck Ford/ Ford Ranger are by far the best all round truck and don’t cost silly money for second hand unlike hilux etc.
  5. Mazda b2500? Mazda/Ranger same thing really but leave the 2.5 and g for 3.0 Wildtrak awesome Truck.
  6. Ford Ranger everytime...anything from 2001 upto 2012 you can pick up for not a lot of money...don’t even bother looking at any other Truck.
  7. Don,t take this the wrong way but think you are asking for a lot of free advice which in certain circumstances is fine, but I think on this occasion your best option would be to actually pay for a professional to come in do an assessment of your site and guide you as to what options you have and the best way to make the most out of your woodland.
  8. HI Wolfie, try Big Heart Tree Surgery...can’t remember the guys name but we have meet a couple of times at the shows. his mo no is 07861724071..you could mention 5 Shires Tree Surgery as he might remember that more then my name. hope you get sorted?
  9. The best thing to do stubby is if you know someone who has got one is just to give it a try,as always the only way to find out is to have a go yourself and not by go on any other persons word, but I know you will be surprised at how good this tool is.
  10. As always with these things there is a kick in the bollocks, there is files you can buy because normal ones are to long to slot into the holes and they are sold in sets of 2’s as is the guide bar file but are around the same price as standard files,or you can do what I have done is just grind a bit off the length...all in all they are such a good fileing tool I will not use anything else again.
  11. Yes I agree but you can take the guide file out so your not fileing the guides down every time you sharpen the chain it’s self.
  12. Am not young and you can get them a lot cheaper then £34 get mine for less then £30 and another company who makes them in blue are around £24..they are really good and do a brill job of sharpening the teeth and and guides at the same time,if you try you will buy,,,guarantee it?
  13. Don’t have that problem anymore, been using the stihl 2 in 1 file for a couple of years and it’s the best chainsaw file ever, only issue is you need a few of them for each size file but there are ways around it.its a fab piece of kit and gets the chain sharpened in no time,it’s fool proof that’s why I use it?
  14. Makes my piss boil all This thieving and feckall is being done about it,so easy to give a crime number and away you go but they just don’t realise the shit and domino effect it causes, what was the scenario to the theft?yard, outside your house, while you were working? What help have you had buddy?
  15. Knew you would pie...you can’t keep a good man down???catch up this year am going to get Kev to see if we can do a weekend up at his place around August/September...bout time some of us southern softy’s came up to your neck of the woods.take it easy fella.
  16. Oi Oi pie...happy new year to ya and hope all good...am sure you will pick up a little work shame am a couple of hundred miles away.
  17. A come on lads I think everyone has made there point now and as been said we are on this site to more often then not give constructive criticism in the best way we can, some of us are more eloquent then others as is our spelling and gramma but I hate it when it starts getting personal. This fella has posted a vid on here and ok it might not be a text book take down but as I said in my previous comment it all went well and obviously the client was happy, this chap has come on here and has defended his self and gave good reason as to why his mate did what he did,ok many of us would not have carried out that particular job in the same way and that’s fine and who’s to say that if any of us did that job in our own way and posted a vid I bet a pound to a pinch of salt some smart ass would say”ohh I wouldn’t have done it like that, and start picking the shit out of it. Give this guy the benefit of the doubt and a little bit of respect for not hiding in the corner and facing and backing up his posting...just hope he doesn’t regret posting on Arbtalk and sticks around to join in future threads.
  18. Firstly happy new year to one and all and hope we all have a productive and safe year to come...anyway back to comments made on this particular subject..At couple of weeks ago there was a vid on here showing a chap cutting and being barber chaired and smashed on the head luckily he survived and we all gave comments on why it went tits and what we would have done which is fair point and why we all participate in giving our views but obviously on this occasion it was a different scenario and outcome,as much as we will pick the shit out of it and slam how it was done etc.but in my view the tree was taken down safely and no one got hurt and in my book if you go home in one piece at the end of a working day that’s surely a good a good thing.
  19. I think when we all hit middle age and kinda have what we need and when we want something we just buy it,Xmas time suddenly means being with people you just want to be with and doing without as much hassle as possible and spending time just having time out and sitting down for a while and watch the world go by for just a day or 2.hats of to all the farmers, gamekeepers and small holders who still have to do there daily routine.marry Xmas and a very happy new year to all who know me and also to the ones who don’t and for all of us who have lost close friends and loved ones this year let’s just celebrate the time we spent with them and be thankful they were our friends and or our family and part of our life’s.
  20. As above my comments and all who have posted on here about this certain accident and I will ask the quotations which we all would like to know.(1) can anyone tell us if this guy is ok?.(1) we’re was the job and who was doing it?(3) who was filming and what did they do to help?.and (4) was it recent or a quite a while ago...just a few answers would be good..no one will judge,I certainly won’t as have already said and openly given my thoughts...even if someone can tell us if the guy is alright would be enough.
  21. I think everyone who has posted on this subject has made a lot of relevant and well judged points as have I but it sounds like a few of the comments made including mine sound like it’s shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted and it’s easy to criticise after the event but I stand by my first statement that if a little more time and thought put into thinking out how to carry out the removal of the tree would have not resulted in a near fatal accident, because that’s what it was just an accident but an unavoidable one.we have all had close shaves doing this kind of work and who ever says they haven’t they are lying,it’s part of what we do and no matter how much we follow the health and safety protocol the forces of nature dictate that we are venerable.i for one think that posting an accident like that brings home how quickly things can go wrong and Man v Tree is only one winner,we are 90% H20.
  22. There Is a number of ways which that double stem pop could have been taken down in a safe and controlled manner and anyone of us who has any experience at all would have chosen our own best method to do so,this guy was obviously out of his depth and no way near experienced enough to tackle that tree, and not to state the obvious it doesn’t look like the most difficult removal in the world, climb higher and reduce each single stem or climb stem on left hand side and repel over to right hand side and remove most of crown then fell remaining stem then return to vertical stem and repeat or clear fell.just one option, god knows why he was allowed to do it?may be the guys watching could post a comment?
  23. You won’t go far wrong with Arbortec Trousers, the type A’s are fab and everything you are looking for and the new pro range are even better.
  24. Hi joe...working for someone who does the pricing and working for yourself and pricing are two totally different things....would you have done an emergency call out and all that work for £450???am guessing not...his pricing of that particular job + Call Out was way out...this isn’t about pricing it’s about him being ripped of either for £450 or £1’450..my opinion would be take the money what’s offered and take it on the chin...will save hassle, phone calls,emails...it’s always the small guy who gets shafted in these circumstances.
  25. Wow..you definitely cocked up on your pricing from the get go..£450 is way of the quotation price for that job on a normal basis so even more for an emergency call out..by my reckoning it should have been £1’000/£1’300 ar very least. so you have really done your self a favour by pricing so low and coming away with only losing £250...I would accept the £200 before he changes his mind..better to come away with something rather then nothing and have the hassle of phone calls/emails etc etc cause am sure you have got better things to do with your time. As said before just put it down to gaining experience and if that situation raises its ugly head again you know how to handle that particular situation...only what I would do but we all have our own thoughts.
