Sorry 5 Shires, I really couldn't help myself. I did read the beer and chocs for Jase - but purposely omitted 'beer' for a better post.

Beer and chics does sound like a lot of appreciation for 'services rendered'. now that's the way to say thank you

  8. That’s fab....he’ll be nearly 6 months old in the new year so the proper training will start so be more interesting for who ever is following the story of Weavers progression from pup to adult working dog. And thanks Alex for following his story.??
  9. Thanks Alex...no not upset him he just won’t keep still for a second even when sat down, always looking around so difficult to get a decent photograph..there are some better ones on my thread New Addition.??

  11. Little clearance job before Xmas of small conifers and ivy which unearthed a rockery so client decided to keep it and bring it back to life. cleard trees/to exspose some nice big rocks so dug outbround ro remove roots and general crap. decide to edge with blue engineering bricks to match existing and create a small hardstanding with reclaimed bricks(will post photographs when finished. Anyway weather this week has stoped me progresseing as much as I want to even with the help of Weaver who hasn’t to get involved. merry Xmas to all arbtalk lads and lassies and be safe while working and here’s to a good new year and 2020 now we have brexit sorted???? All the best 5 Shires
  12. Nice venue josh and very nice gesture to your subbys and other half’s,doesn’t happen as much now as it used to and the lads will no doubt appreciate it,can I come and subby for you next year just so I can come to end of year bash.????
  13. Hi Phill, have nothing as yet as I have already cut up into logs, but now I know what you want I can cut into longer lengths etc,be in the new year now.am based in Droitwich.pm me and send me you contact details.
  14. Hi what quantities are you looking for, large amounts or various sized loads? And what you looking at paying? regards wayne
  15. I think all the responses to the original post have value in there own right, but if you read the full criteria which they are looking for it goes far and above what a novice and or trainee is capable of doing from the get go(yes I here you when you say in a number of years he or she may be up to speed). consultancy work of any kind is bast on qualifications and or years of experience and I think if they up’d the anti they may get someone more suitable more close to what they are looking for. i for one hope to go into something similar when i’am unable to climb and or do a hard days cutting/chipping etc to how I normally can do,when the body tells you enough is enough the obvious path to take is consultancy work either trees and or ecology. i hope they do find someone suitable as i’am sure it’s a great career path to take.
  16. Not so much a work truck but time I changed my 2007 Wildtrak for a more up to date model, been looking for a while and wanted manual/canopy so finally found this 3.2TDi 2015 picked it up today I also have a 2008 Wildtrak tipper won’t buy any other truck.
  17. Hi Steve yes I did read it was for a trainee but did you read the criteria requirements, that’s not laid out for someone with little or no experience, and with that workload and requirements even being a trainee I would still want £20/£25k.thats a lot of work for a trainee to take on board, yes free training and all that but think they are undervalueing the person who they are looking for...good luck to them.
  18. Sounds like a nice little job there for someone, but for the pay you are offering there will be few if any takers, you need to be starting at 20/25k then looking at 30k as progress
  19. Yep good idea Mick...he just has to remember the 5 rules of Dodgeball. DODGE,DUCK.DIP,DIVE & DODGE?silky should be ok,he’s being doing it for years?
  20. Any Photographs of your dogs mark???
  21. Ya for him,,,,,it’s surprising how heavy a little dog can be when your dragging him with a load of brash.?
  22. Hi Please send over a brief description of what you can do,I do a bit of work in and around the Cotswolds but mainly more midlands but always good to have numbers of good lads or lady’s who may want the odd day or two.please send contact detail with short experience(doesn’t have to be to full on just basics will do and at what standard you can climb)along with day rate.my email:[email protected] Regards wayne 5 Shires Tree Surgery
  23. Just a update on the book which I have just started to read and just to say i’am not a great reader of books and the last one I did read was Damed Utd. This book however is quite brilliant and anyone who has the slightest interest in trees or just wants something to read which is stimulating I suggest you give this book a go,it’s quite a big read and will take me a good while to get through it but already i’am gaining a lot more insight into the world of trees and everything else that they bring and give to us.Please forgive my grammar and spelling i’am not the greatest wordsmith but am sure you get the basics of how i’am trying to portray what this fab book is about. QUITE A CHUNKY BOOK SO WILL TAKE ME SOMETIME TO READ
  24. Evening Lads and Lassies...well another Monday and an easy start to the week and need it as worked Saturday & Sunday(just has to be done sometimes) Anyway just a small reduction of a few small trees today,Cherry, willow and was allowed to have weaver with me to clear up,he is such a good little dog and very friendly even if a bit boisterous. he runs a plays but never goes far and always comes back when I call him,I don’t take the whistle to work just voice commands, nothing much to report on the training front as yet just doing small bits with him so nothing technical to write about. its more just getting him use to all the noises and smells and of course people and other animals. He eats really well and I always have a few pieces of tripe stick in my pocket which I give him for coming back and getting in the truck when I ask him. With the treats I have always made a point of not letting him recognise that they come out of a noisy packet and always keep them in a jar as I don’t want him to associate the noise of a packet as something he can eat and not staring at you when you open a packet of crisps, sweets or any other food(nothing worse then a begging dog looking at you while you are eating. I have had to educate certain people and always ask any of my customers who’s house i’am working at not to give him anything and or throw things, some get it others think i’am being unfair but it’s the way it has to be. When his training really kicks in I will post more interesting things but until then I will just post small updates and photographs of how he is growing, also if anyone wants to ask any questions regarding anything i’am doing and the progress of Weaver or can give there own views please feel free to join in. Weaver Helping Me To Tidy Up(He Stays In The Bag When I Drag It
  25. Thanks both, the scurry Dens(I have called them that)are something I have always used, just a few conifer branches stuck into the ground so there not lying flat and make a kinda small canopy so the dog can work inside, just gets them used to getting into brash and hunting out and finding game.Sometimes I don’t use a dummie or a dead bird I hide a couple of his favourite treats in there which is a little harder to find and makes them work that little bit harder.
