  1. Hi guys, I have a rather strange request from a customer for 2 Oak logs from Sherwood Forest. The logs will be milled so needs to be of a decent size (ideally 3m length with 30cm - 60cm diameter but we can discuss the details) and preferably green. Also, I will need a felling licence to prove where they are from. Delivered to CM17. I know it won't be cheap, so if you just so happen to have access to the above and the ability to deliver please drop me a PM and I should be able to make it worth your time. Many thanks!
  2. WANTED FALLEN TREES.... of all sizes in the Cheshire area, we can mill on site up to 1.5 m diameter or in our own yard please contact me for more info cheshiremilling@gmail.com or 07455018862
  3. I am looking to buy the above species by the lorry load. We have a tight spec, but it can be worth the extra work since we pay more than "firewood" prices for it. Spec: Length 3m +/- 20cm (other lengths to order only) Minimum top diameter 15cm Maximum butt diameter 32cm All timber should be as knot free as possible, 1st length type material (no top wood), it should be straight within reason with no butt flares, rot, dirt or metal contamination Delivery will be to Harlow, Essex. If you want to discuss further please PM me. Thanks!

  9. Hi All New to this forum and first time poster! I wanted to ask your advice and opinions on a job I need doing. I have 200 - 300 stumps (ranging in size from 300mm to 800mm diameter) that I need to remove as efficiently and economically as possible without doing undue damage to the surrounding woodland area and remaining trees. The stumps are predominantly oak stumps 80% with the remainder being beech and willow. The woodland is an old oak plantation (approx 100 yrs old) spread over 5 hectares. The site is accessible by tractor when the ground conditions are favourable but it is a wet woodland. I've been told a stump grinding team could probably work through 20 stumps a day but I came across an amazing bit of kit called a Rotor S (made in Italy by a company called Ferrirotor) that appeared to drill its way through a stump in a matter of minutes and I wondered if this might be a more economical way of processing these stumps. The problem is I can't seem to find anybody in the UK who owns or has used a Rotor S. Has anybody on here got any experience or working knowledge about the Rotor S? I would like to learn more about this piece of kit and it's costs (aside from the company website info) and ideally I'd like to hire one or contract a company that has one to come and do the work if it turns out to be cheaper than traditional stump grinding services. Can anybody offer any advice or opinion? What are your thoughts?

  20. Hi - very much a newbie here so please bear with me. I happen to have a very large barn that has roughly 60M2 rectangular area with concrete floor that is truck accessible and is ideal for firewood processing plus seasoning. If anyone knows of good Forestry or trade sources local to Shropshire that supply bulk timber (to 25T deliveries) then please do pass them on. I'd be looking for mixed hard and soft wood (though majority soft as this predominates the local market and is reflected in pricing) and recon I could process and store around 250 tons per year initially with ease and 500T if I wanted to dog myself. I think beyond 1000T (allowing for 1 year seasoning) the barn space may start to be cluttered. I will not be able to process trunk sizes larger than 12 inches (without upgrading splitter) so preferably looking for trunk sized on the smaller size from telegraph pole thickness to 12 inches thickness. If anyone has quantities available ready to load in good manageable lengths then let me know pricing roadside or delivered. I have plenty of haulier contacts so arranging grab trailer pickup myself isn't a problem though distance from Shropshire may be for cost. Any words of wisdom on retailing firewood also welcome. This will be a sideline enterprise for me basically inspired out of the mediocre quality and questionable quantity delivered relative to advertised firewood available from several local suppliers.
