  1. Well HS2 looks like it’s going ahead after more wasted money on consultation,I hoped Boris would be a bit different but yet another prime minister singing to the tune of big investors and share holders. It was to much to ask to pull the plug on this vast amount and waste of money and to spend it on building more hospitals and schools and investing in more doctors, nursing staff and teachers which we need so much more then trying to save minutes of travel.really disappointed but for every one person like me there will be 5 or more who are rubbing there hands with the amount of money they will be making constructing this massive white elephant and bear in mind if the number crunchers are saying it will cost £100 million + you can guarantee it will piss all over that amount and the timescale and distruction it will cause will be vastly more then anyone is saying.
  2. Good man...nothing like being positive...as Donald Sutherland said in Kelly’s Heroes, don’t keep hitting me with them negative waves??..see you at the Arb Show..am staying at the Halfords...no camping for me this time.
  3. Ridiculous price for boots.
  4. F—k me silkster have you won the lottery.?
  5. Sorry Kev it’s somthing that us has humans can’t explain or ever understand at the way we react when we loose a pet especially when it’s a dog(nothing against cats).i lost my last dog the same time has my mother passed away,I still have moments now when I have tears thinking and missing my dog but not for my mother and I loved her to bits and she was a great mom but can’t control my emotions when thinking bout my old Spaniel.so sorry for your loss mate.
  6. I don’t know enough about engines to comment really,I think obviously the diesel has more torque then a petrol but could be wrong so with the petrol haveing more HP I guess the power balances it’s self out...but if i’am wrong someone with more knowledge then me will correct me.
  7. Morning fella...yes no problem I will give some feedback on the Evo after I have had it on loan for a week...I went for the petrol because that’s all I have ever used...never had a diesel Chipper...I started of with crappy second hand Chippers then upgraded to a 130 had that for a while then traded that in for a 150p and now looking at trading that in for a Evo 165p...just prefer petrol that’s all really.
  8. O ok..Andy is sorting out a petrol 165 for me...I like Dan always very helpful even with the smallest of issues...yep real nice set up you got there fella, should last you a good while before you need to change it?
  9. Very nice set up...who sorted you out at Global(Rod,Elliott) did they see you ok on the price?
  10. It’s been various construction or building companies over the years...but I carry it through as a point of being professional about it...it does take time of course it does but I do it for my piece of mind that if someone has taken the time to email me over plans etc then I should do as asked and there may be a time when a new guy takes over and he may look at getting quotations in the correct manner.
  11. Yep exactly.....god knows the amount of damage and destruction has been caused already and once it’s gone it’s gone.our generation has a lot to answer for and I feel sorry for my children and grandchildren and beyond.
  12. Get what your saying but when I started in this business over 30yrs ago I didn’t want to be known as I know a bloke who is cheap and have never deviated from that,I know you win some lose some in the normal pricing of work for mr & Mrs public...but when quoting and pricing for these big contracts/jobs a lot of guys who I know would throw there own granny in the Chipper to get it...very back stabbing process and never knowing who is your mate or not...you got to be some kind of arse licker and do as your told and I have never wanted to be put in a situation we’re i have to say yes when I want to say know...like I said when I have these jobs come in I do what I need to,site visit and put a detailed quotation together for a fair price.....you never know may be after 10 yrs I just might get lucky ?
  13. Yes I agree how that works and is quite normal practice....but tell me this...I have over the years get requested to quote for works for a couple of housing developers who need to have trees removed and ground clearing.....now we are not talking small jobs and small numbers(nothing as big as HS2) but all the same £1’000’s of pounds worth of work but after probably doing 4/5 quotes and not getting anywhere it occurred to me that it’s just a process they go through just to get the amount of quotes they need,I have since learned over the years the same company gets most of the work no matter what price they put in(case of who you know not what you know) had another one last week to price in Worcester removal of trees for 9 new houses so religiously and being a professional I made a site visit and put my price in even though deep down I know I won’t get a siff...it’s all well and good putting in a price for these big jobs but i’am guessing it’s all ready been sorted who will get the work no matter what quotation other companies put in..if you know what I mean.?
  14. As the title says has anyone done or is currently doing any work on the HS2 project? Original Projected cost was £62 Billion) now costs have been recalculated to more then double at around (£102 Billion)...who are these people who run and price these big government jobs?there f—king useless, how can you be that much out?someone is making or has made an awful lot of money out of this unnecessary plan to save 10 minutes traveling.?
  15. Why don’t you give them a day rate price for the felling as your labour charge...and to keep your costs down and make some money ask them to pay for Chipper and extraction hire??? I love these charity groups...most time the CEO’s and top people for most charity’s earn £100’000 or more per year...I stay clear of working for charity’s...you need to let them know that your not a charity and you need to earn a living...if any job doesn’t make you money no matter what it is just leave it well alone.
  16. No electric hook ups Paul and no it’s £18 even if in a bin liner,as for lower prices no not really, years ago you could get some decent deals but it’s so cut throat now the deals you do get is minimal,I call a good deal 50% off be lucky if you get 10/15% now.best is to be just cheeky and ask for best price. shame you can’t make it mike as the more the merrier and always good to catch up with guys who have posted reply’s and joined in conversations during the year, there is always the ARB SHOW in May????
  17. Ya not far for me Gary..bout 15 minutes...but I live the camping and having the late night get togethers...missed it last year As was working for arbortec for the 3 days and had to be on my best behaviour?might be doing just the Thursday this year but not sure yet...I have already got 2 day ticket and booked camping for the Friday and Saturday.???
  18. Yes it’s at Ragley 24th,25th & 26th camping is £18 per person per night and I think it’s £18 to get in per day...you can by 2 day tickets. be good to see the pie eater he’s always good for a good discussion....on just about anything....think most of the old gang will be staying and camping on the Friday and Saturday.
  19. What you need to do tomo is put the word about or even post something on here asking who might be going from near you and bung them some fuel money and grab a lift, obviously if you thinking of staying down you need to find someone who is aswell or if just for the day which is more likely?
  20. Am lost on this one?
  21. Yes Alex that’s the poor guy..thanks for putting up the link.
  22. Yes we sometimes forget how dangerous this job can be...the guy who has died was only 37 so so tragic, feel bit sick this morning..he spent 10 yrs in the army done tours in Iraq etc and decided he wanted something different and obviously what he loved..such a shame..to right Tommy everyone just be safe.
  23. Sorry to hear the unfortunate death of a tree surgeon in Scotland over the weekend, not sure of the circumstances as not much information given but my thoughts are with his family & friends...he was a retired soldier who had started up his own company called One Two Tree and apparently was working on Sunday when accident happened.
  24. Yes he has really come on in size and muscle...can’t remember my Spaniels growing so fast and filling out.my Spaniels always went all lanky before they filled out so quickly I guess because Weaver is a sprocker it’s a slighty different growing pattern, never thought about it before and obviously the food now has much more protein and supplements in it now days.i feed him on Skinners field and trial musle mix with chopped chicken and cod liver oil twice a day.
  25. Alex the rope looks like petal flow 11.5 or 11.6 maybe? Would need to be around that size for the zig zag and yes defo a Original 200
