  1. Ya he’s got all the technical know how and he knows his stuff and has posted some great stories over the last few years...but don’t knock yourself buddy..you are out there traveling around and doing much the same thing as silkster did.he would be proud of you..from little acorns and all that??
  2. Haveing a bit of a deja-vu moment hear...silky fox part 2?
  3. It really funny you posted this ...I was working over last weekend and on my own just a chip and tidy up from previous days job...we all now know that we never leave our chainsaws etc in view or our front not even for a second. So 2 signs out at the front as was parked close to path...anyway I was working round the back and all of a sudden I had a funny thought bout my signs at the front so stoped and walked round,as I got nearer I saw a middle aged guy standing by my one sign looking around..then he saw me and ran off...needless to say signs folded up and around the back with the rest of my gear..FFS nothing is sacred anymore it’s just getting a f—-king joke now.
  4. WTF government either thinking or already have decided to ban Log Burners, doers this mean no more to be sold and if you already have one you can still use it or are they banning them across the board??? Not much clarity or info at the moment.could cause bug issues for log suppliers.
  5. Generally Magnolias Should Not Be Pruned but if it’s to big and needs reducing treat it like any normal fruit tree even though it’s not,as said pruning encourages water shoot growth, crack on and reduce as required but it needs to be done mid to late summer as it bleeds a lot in winter and needs time to heal and to encourage next years flowers.cut back to main stems, clear out canopy and any dead and or dyeing.
  6. Just by pass the police...if you can afford it Hire 3 Big Polish Lads and give them the info...leave it there and they’ll sort it....mite not solve anything practical but it’ll make you feel a whole lot better..my humble opinion is this is the way to go..fire with ?
  7. Thieving cheeky fuckin shit scum bastards, could be pikey or our Eastern European friends, who have more cheek then our traveling mates..know exactly how you feel fella..hope you get it back...forget any help from five 0
  8. Yep..and you don’t need to live in a village either?
  9. Am not having a go buddy and or stating the obvious in my previous response...we all get lazy especially after a hard day..we get back home and have to unload and we think arrr it’ll be fine for one night and we pay the price financially and emotionally.yep you won’t do it again that a definite..all the best and you never know you mite get them back?
  10. Not good my friend ..but how many times have we said on here bout never ever leaving your tools especially chainsaws in your van/truck...these guys are not opportunist, they watch you and know exactly your routine.not saying they were watching you but unless they were left on view they knew you had them in your van..the scum are now breaking in to vehicles just to steal the loose change we all leave in our vehicle so what hope have we got, they cause £££££of damage just to get a couple of ££’s in coins.i do have sympathy with you but think you know you should have known better not to leave them in the first place...
  11. The £150 aday rate I mentioned is an absolute minimum a decent freelance climber should be asking...but I guess very rearly gets...I agree the £150 rate per day was around 10/15 years ago but I didn’t know any one then who was getting that for subbie work..I think £150 aday is what any good subbie should be asking for...how can you possibly ask for anymore, what amount of work would you get if you asked for £200 aday? It’s a competitive market out there and employees will rather pay £100 aday for a inexperienced climber rather then the worlds fastest and best for £150 or more..is it a case of supply and demand...it’s never going to change and the only way you will earn more then £150 aday on a very regular basis is if you run your own business and set up.just my thoughts on it.
  12. All the above...you do really need to be getting £150 a day for subbie work..lot different when pricing your own as you can make at least double and more for a single day and on bigger jobs considerably more depending on what the job is.in this business no day is ever the same..one day small hedg cutting job for say £100 the next day could be a £500 Removal it’s just the way it is..unless you get on the railways scrub etc bashing under contract then you know what you will be making day to day.
  13. And your point is?i think I already said it won’t suit some..
  14. Looks good also, is the back extended beyond the original tub or the same? Ta No it’s same..I didn’t want it looking stupid and oversized,ok no tool storage but that would have to take up more room,at the end of the day you get a vehicle what’s suits you and your needs, what you will find on here is lots of negative and suggestions which do not suit you but them..I choose a 4x4 cause of were I take most of my chip and for trekking across fields etc..and when it’s snows it comes into its own...how many transit’s got stuck or couldn’t even get to site last week? I didn’t miss a day and towing a Chipper..if you think a 4x4 will suits you for work and family you go get one,you won’t regret it,just don’t get Navarna or Mitsubishi.
  15. Hi john..ya I know...but I have already been told off so I’ll have to only post a few every now and again??
  16. This is my Ranger Wildtrak it’s fab, very comfortable, room in the back for the children and can get around 4 cu of woodchip in box,it’s a 3ltr and pulls anything and go’s any we’re fast and smooth.
  17. Thanks for your reply...
  18. New cover came into it own over last couple of days..treavling to and from jobs..instead of getting cover in slush and crop from roads it was kept clean(will post a few pictures when I get round to it) well worth what I paid to have it made just after the last couple of days?
  19. Yes on both counts I would think...thing is how many would spend £200 odd on something just to cover Chipper when traveling?as most keep inside 99%of the time...I always had in mind to have some sort of cover made when I could afford to buy a new Chipper, just didn’t want to throw any old tarpaulin over it and wrap rope around it.?
  20. Yes I have done already..the lad who made it has put bungee cord around it and there are hooks at front, side & rear. I guess but sure people who know Chippers could work it out...but see what you mean.
  21. Hi Pete..can’t access the link...would like to see what it looks like compared to the one I had made??
  22. Cheers mike?
