  1. Couple of local burger vans, Eggon Ronnies (Egon Ronay) Karlsburgers, probably the best burgers... (in the Carlsberg writing)
  2. I recognise the dealer sticker on there as i bought a saw from the same supplier a while ago, but to find out where they were i used the good old internet. Have you ever tried typing 'Gay and Hunt' into Google:scared1:
  3. Since buying the 30's i haven't picked up the 20's. Yes, larger capacity but also marginally less far to bend down. I just prefer them. Regards, Steve.
  4. Parents have a bird feeder on a 5 foot pole smeared with grease - it's f***ing hysterical watching them try
  5. Interesting thread. My (maternal) Grandfather was RN and was sunk but survived. To this day i wish i could find out the name of the ship so i could dive the wreck. He passed over twenty years ago. When my Grandmother passed eighteen months ago we found that all his memorabilia/medals/history was gone, possibly taken by a carer? At my Grandmother's funeral i found out that one of her older sisters flew spitfires out to the bases once they were built (was she the first female to do so?) It's prompted me to reread her eulogy - what a life she lived, as did so many of our predecessors. So sad that it's only now i'm in my forties i take an interest in all this:thumbdown:
  6. Mine's done 1370 hours and the rollers could do with a sharpen, i was tempted to have some teeth welded on like the Greenmech ones. TP now do a toothed replacement top roller but it's about £270 Regards, Steve.
  7. Depends which side of the blade meets the wood. On a drum chipper get the angle wrong by 3 degreees and the machine will simply not chip full stop. Sent the CS100 blades off to a certain machine knive company who i obviously can't name, i even told them the angles to use (27deg front and 4deg rear for 10mm). They came back sharp enough to shave with, put them in the machine and gapped the anvil and found i couldn't chip a twig. Took them out and found they'd done them to 30 deg so the wood was just hitting the top edge not the leading (cutting edge). Sent them back to be done to OEM spec as they had quoted on their website (and i had provided), when they were i was back to excellent performance. A mate of mine has a local engineering firm and a jig made up for my TP blades and now does them. The boys reckon it's a couple of hours work as the machine only takes off 2 thou at a time. Any more and you'll start heating the blade up and losing hardness. HTH Regards, Steve.
  8. Last one i had was from Cardiff docks Diesel powered boom lifts | cherrypickers | access platforms | cherry picker hire| Hi-Reach | UK They do up to 50m. Regards, Steve.
  9. Definately a new piston Inlet side ok Exhaust not so good but should clean up I put a cylinder hone in by hand (not on the cordless) just to see if it fitted but might try cleaning first. Dandikrop from Greece does the Meteor pistons, not sure what brand Mister Solutions (blindstickinsect) does but will give them a ring tomorrow as i'm not sure if i'll get collared for import duty or VAT from Greece. Regards, Steve.
  10. I picked it up as it had no bar and i have an 18" bar and a load of chains to use up from where my 357xp and 385xp got nicked, but yes i'm chuffed with it. Ran ok but died a couple of times when dropping down to idle. I let it cool down a bit and it was pulling 105psi warm. I'll take the pot off and see if a piston alone will do it, should hope so. Regards, Steve.
  11. I got the easy one. 372XP spares or repair off Fleabay, seller thought low compression so i felt £146 was far enough to go. Couldn't sleep last night so 3:30 am compression test in the kitchen - 80psi. Exhaust off and there is scoring visible on piston but surely it should start on 80psi? Checked colour of plug Looks ok to me, till i turned it upside down Ceramic shroud loose. New plug and fuel at a more acceptable time of the morning and she's screaming:thumbup: Might treat it to a piston from Dandrikop anyway.
  12. If i remember correctly, once past overrun brakes @ 3500kG you enter the requirements for plating ie. the trailer needs testing every year. Regards, Steve.
  13. Woohoo, just had an email from the guy who said as he boxed it up to send he gave another pull and it had compression - the decompressor had been pushed in - here's hoping for a Fleabay bargain
  14. Spares or repair 372XP off Fleabay.....at least i've got more to do than just open the box:biggrin: Other than that a pair of SIP Freedoms and 45m of Tachyon for the SJ, or does the Bacardi count? MS880 can wait for the New Year
  15. Fingers crossed.....just grabbed a spares or repair (low compression) 372XP for £146, so a piston from Spud's recommended man in Greece is £26 delivered otherwise a piston and pot is £60. Regards, Steve.
  16. Very approximately 1,382.4 KG Based on 3.456 m3 @ 400KG/m3 from here http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/7002-weight-woodchip.html Regards, Steve. EDIT - Rover beat me to it as i had to answer the door!
  17. Yep, it's this one, saw it the other day - at least this one's got a guard:thumbup: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-E4GmFX3Puo]wheel of death part 6 - YouTube[/ame]
  18. Bob, I'm guessing you picked it up at a good price, but with the plans for bolstered flat-bed, chip box and welfare unit would a hook lift have been a better bet? There's a cracking one locally which i always look at, it's got a huge crane on the front and has flat and bin beds for the back, it's an eight legger mind! I still rue the day i let my Scania go to Archer's in Staffordshire for conversion. It was a 26T 6x2 rear lift on air with 8m bed, 14t/m triple extension crane and 4 over 4 box. Beautiful to drive and it was my baby but hey, toys come and go, we just move on to the next one! I see it's already resprayed in company colours Look forward to pictures of the different backs. Regards, Steve.
  19. Just an update for anyone researching, Have done the job, still waiting for the invoice, however the winning quote was £265+VAT for 3 way lights, cones and signage on 50mph road with an operative (should have been two poor sod) commissioned between 09:30 and 15:30 and as they are big and reputable the LA did not require drawings which also saved bigtime:thumbup1: Regards, Steve.
  20. Have similar on my Iveco. Starts about 15-20 mph but is not noticable when heavily laden. Neighbour runs an HGV fitters place but does a lot of 3.5t Ivecos and reckons it's where the worn crownwheel and pinion mesh and to try a higher viscosity oil first, i just haven't got round to it yet. Last whiney diff i had was on a 17T HIAB Scania when i bought it - it lasted one (heavily loaded) day. The replacement from a scrappy also whined and was overloaded and abused for another eight years till i sold it, you just never know...
  21. Me too, first 15" bar on 550xp went the same way, replaced it with Oregon narrow kerf and no problems since.
  22. On the night of the premiere of the film of his life.
