  1. That usually only happens when using it for a sneaky cut on the ground:blushing: - i'll get my coat Regards, Steve.
  2. What a joke, but as said it's easier to do that in five minutes than spend 20 mins arguing with a jobsworth at the side of the road... So that's it, i'm now a 'Registered Waste Carrier' ! Regards, Steve.
  3. Oh bugger, i think i've just put 4 tons of Rustic Wedding Cake Stands through the splitter
  4. Chain pitch is the distance between the centres of three consecutive rivets, divided by two. Hope this helps.
  5. Or "went down like a French kiss at a family reunion"
  6. Rob, Is there any interest in .325 .050 in light type for 346/550 in 15" and 18" to run the 95VPX chain? Is there even a Sugi mould for them? Or am i resigned to Oregon bars or going back to .058 for the next reel? Regards, Steve.
  7. Was going to undercut you at £999 but sod it, i'll do it for the wood
  8. Do you feel the same about CODWOOD ?
  9. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/trees-law/67650-replanting-after-tpod-tree-removal.html reply#7
  10. Lack of sleep, skipping breakfast, too much the night before:blushing:, stress, other things on your mind, start of illness - could be anything? Good that you sensed it and found a way to safely finish the day whilst achieving the set work:thumbup1: Regards, Steve.
  11. Worth sharpening chipper blades 'as a job'? Probably not. Mate of mine has an engineering firm and does mine, i think two thou at a time and the boys do a really good job. I know what his hourly rate is and what he charges me and i can't see how companies such as a certain Machine Knife company (that i will never use again) can do them for £6 each? Regards, Steve.
  12. Ha, recently our TO stipulated planting an Oak miles away in a rear garden to replace the two Lleylandii being felled in the front. Regards, Steve.
  13. Not just the dim, the "Oh it's just two seconds with the grinder - i'll just squint instead" It's not the almost painless spark going in your eye that hurts - it's when it has melted into the eyeball and started rusting and you go to A&E to have the dye poured in so they can dig it out - that's the bit you really remember, then start wearing safety glasses. Regards, Steve.
  14. Tachyon working well on the SJ if that helps, Yale XTC Spearmint before was pants for self tending. Regards, Steve.
  15. Just to wrap this up, the bar arrived yesterday - the delay was leaving the States, not this end. Once landed it cleared customs and was with me in a day with no extra charges. Only had a scabby old chain to stick on her but we're up and running:thumbup: Regards, Steve.
  16. Paul, Unfortunately i'm a little the worse for wear tonight, but pm me your mobile and i'll call you in the next couple of days - my wife has just had surgery and i spent two weeks nursing her after mastoid surgery, she's had the first op for reconstructive work and op two is in a year's time to restore the hearing. Feeling for you bud, i know where you are. Regards, Steve.
  17. Cosmic, excellent bit of info there, JD is running 96 lpm and your find is giving 84, the 1394 is running 29. Only concern is max pressure being 120 bar where the others are running 175 to 200. Regards, Steve.
  18. Right, i'm going to start tinkering as there are two points that let down my truck (35c14), cack brakes and a diesel tank that sits ridiculously close to the floor. Was there much involved in the relocation? I'll tip it tomorrow and start figuring but pointers welcome. Regards, Steve.
  19. OK update, fitter wanted to test a John Deere 6820 he'd been working on so hooked up the splitter......JESUS CHRIST - that's how it's supposed to work!! Looked up the spec and the pump has three times the flow rate of the Case, but i'm not spending £100K on a tractor to run a splitter. So it depends what you're running it off Regards, Steve.
  20. Post removed, thinking of the wrong switch. Want the 346XP to do the same as the 550XP. Regards, Steve.
  21. Got a 2005 372XP (the one i put a Meteor piston in), she's all run in but i've ordered a 24" .063 bar for it (so i can use the same chain roll as the Stihls) so i think it could do with Spud's majic hands inside her:biggrin: What's the damage sir - pm if you prefer Regards, Steve.
  22. Felled various species last week, one sycamore was pumping it out.
  23. Been christening mine (KTM 14T) and it's been ok. I've not used any others to compare it to but it seems to work. It's happier on green Sycamore and Ash than knarly Lawson and got it to explode some 8 month old knarly Eucalyptus base. I'm running it off a Case 1394 so a reasonable pump and set it to 1000rpm so it sips diesel, turning up the revs doesn't seem to give it much more power, just a quicker stroke speed. Auto return is handy, you can use it or not, but first of all you'll need to tie the two handle together so you can operate it one handed:sneaky2:. The 14 and 18 ton models have the four way head which is a bonus and for the money it's a great way to start and if i get a bigger faster machine i'll definately keep it as backup. If i knew how to upload videos i would do one on the next run. Regards, Steve.
  24. This is the one i went for [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Oregon-243RNDD009-Gauge-Pitch-Power/dp/B0044U4USK]Amazon.com: Oregon 243RNDD009 .063" Gauge 3/8" Pitch 24" Power Match Bar: Patio, Lawn & Garden[/ame]
  25. Just done it the other way round - got an .063 bar for the 372XP so it'll run the same chain as the big Stihls. Importing an Oregon Powermatch from USA through Amazon.com and it's cheap:thumbup1:. What size bar are you after and for what saw? Regards, Steve.
