  1. Whereabouts in South Wales, I have both and an Alaskan if you want to have a go? I bought a 3' mill to go with the 660 and then had to buy a longer rail set and an 880:sneaky2:, a 660 on 36" will mill 29" with dogs on, I'm doing 43" with a 48" 880. Regards, Steve. Edit - oh and get a winch:thumbup1:
  2. If you have access to a lot of 3-5' butts then it's a no brainer for me. Yes the 660 will pull 36" all day long but give me a load of 4' to ring up and it wouldn't even come out of the van. There is a vast difference between the 660 and 880 and for the sake of an extra £200 when you're spending that sort of money on a new saw it's again a done deal. If you're doing day to day arb then the 880 will probably spend most of it's life gathering dust whereas the 660 is more versatile, good @ 36" and a beast @ 25" and a hell of a lot lighter. If you plan to do any milling again it's got to be the 880. Also if you're used to sharpening 36" 3/8 then 48" .404 is only 11 more cutters. For the record I'm not anti Husky, I have 346, 550 and 372 which are good and used to have 357 and 385 until I was relieved of them:thumbdown: Regards, Steve.
  3. From the horses mouth LoadHandler UK - The Pickup Truck Unloader in the UK Buy a pickup 'Load Handler' online sold out awaiting new stock, but sold out of every size Regards, Steve.
  4. Does save a lot of work and gets most of it out. Had to finish off filing out the handle slot when i got mine, but other than that i'd rather have one than not. Regards, Steve.
  5. Only have to pull one pin and the whole lot comes off before driving on the public highway which obviously I always do , actually I do tend to as much for insurance purposes as anything else. They've only had a mild moan twice in nearly seven years as it's only slight mis-spacing and not designed to nor does it evade ANPR. As one copper once said you never know when your going to drive past the one who wants to make a meal of it. Regards, Steve.
  6. Sort of went with this. Got a winch, mounted it on a plate to clip onto a towball and fitted a detachable front towbar to the pickup. Now I can swap the winch between front and back of pickup and the back of the Iveco till I get the front towbar on that too, also any vehicle with a towbar. Benefit being I just slip it off and it can't get nicked or rot in the elements, downside being I just know the day I get caught out it won't be on the right vehicle Simples! Regards, Steve.
  7. This one? - http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/milling-forum/82380-worth-trying-beech.html Regards, Steve.
  8. Hi Jim, Yep, 'O' License for over 3.5T Regards, Steve.
  9. Good thread Adam. I rushed my first as I lost patience and just hacked it instead of editing with fades just to get it to fit with the music. It depends what your target audience is. The casual browser just wants action so crash and bash, no putting a nice accurate gob in, just the last split second of cut and the big fall away. Climbers will appreciate some work positioning, newbies are looking for more technique and explanation/ instruction. Trolls are looking for anything they can pick holes in right or wrong. Music, again depends on the audience I think. If the video is for entertainment then music binds it together and helps it flow, technical stuff is probably better without. I've seen a couple that have integrated footage from drones and it's definitely something I will be using on the next tasty job as I know someone who has one, BUT.... With everything we watch nowadays be filmed in HD/3D/4K God knows what with mind boggling special effects, it doesn't matter how far we go it just looks like another Youtube vid. Keep up the good work and a big thankyou and respect to all those that take the time to edit and upload. Kind regards, Steve.
  10. Got an email from Chris this morning, power was out for 38 hours apparently. Regards, Steve.
  11. Interested in the copyright issues, I have one flagged up as copyright but not with the correct owner. Not had an issue so far........
  12. Hi Will, glad you're happy with the 150, and I stand by what I said when you picked it up - if it hadn't been for the deal of the century I got on the 200 turntable at the APF i would still be running her today - and on some jobs I'd have been better off...if you can stretch to what TP want for the toothed top roller upgrade it's definitely worth it. I think 2015 is going to see an explosion of GoPro vids, for £100 and free advertising tools like Facebook local group pages it's a no-brainer. It's only got to bring in one job! It's only when you start editing and uploading that you realise what the guys have put into what we watch and take for granted - big respect and thankyou to you all. I'm taking on board comments from this thread and the next video will not have music, looking to use different camera angles etc. Got another Beech dismantle Monday, but the Pine next to it for Tuesday will need rigging so we'll have a play. Regards, Steve.
  13. I'm getting 'removed by user' too on desktop PC and mobile, pity - do like a bit of crash and bash
  14. Thank you Paul, not sure it's worthy of that praise The Gano was about 10' up, should have zoomed in on it. Also have footage looking through the base of the stem before starting but I cut too much to time it with the music. I used music to make it easier to watch for non-arbs as it's mainly for potential customers. Regards, Steve.
  15. Buy GoPro Hero 5MP Action Camera at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Tough and action camcorders. Regards, Steve.
  16. The supplied sticky ones seem fine, i'm using the curved one on a Stein lid and it's not been knocked off yet - as hard as some branches have tried ! Regards, Steve.
  17. Entry level £100 in Argos, same as all the others but without all the stuff i don't need for now. Regards, Steve.
  18. Thanks, with buttress' off the felling cut was 6'4" Regards, Steve.
  19. Well I had high hopes for the first effort but it turned out cack. Kept turning the camera off instead of on and vice versa so missed the rigging and cut so much to get the music to fit that it's disjointed and to be honest I had so much trouble continually re-installing the GoPro Studio software that I kinda gave up. Wanted to get some nice photos in to show the milled planks and climber in tree but it wouldn't allow it and GOD I WISH I'D MOVED THAT LADDER - how un-pro does that look Anyway here it is and as Reg always says - watch in HD Regards, Steve.
  20. Always liked 'teaching a child how to tell the time, then buying them a digital watch at the end of it'
  21. GoPro Studio, but every time I try to launch it, it does nothing and I have to re-install the bloody thing Regards, Steve.
  22. Thanks Guys. Forgot to add - where do I stand with regard to copyright of the audio track? Will Youtube pull it for infringement or do I get a bill (unlikely) from the owner? I know some of the drum covers have been pulled because of copyright. Regards, Steve.
  23. Hi Guys, Just going to start crudely editing my first GoPro vid, not sure whether to put it to music or not? It will be the first in a line of videos aimed towards prospective customers and interested parties as opposed to the scrutineering eyes of internet fora! Chainsaws are pretty boring to listen to, but adding music seems to divide opinion and everyone's taste is different. If I go with music would probably use something like Lithium by Evanescence. So what is the general concensus - add a soundtrack or not? Thanks in advance. Regards, Steve.
