  5. not a expert on different styles but looks very welsh to me. if midlands would have one row of stakes and binders on top. maybe breckon style. but nice job.
  6. i quoted to do some ground maint work it may have been a nice little regular job so went in keen £12 per hour undercut by £2 per hour. so its dog eat dog out there. they have offered to do it on the hope it brings in more work cheap adertising. by doing one job cheap. work it out advert in paper £50 a week. how much on e bay £5 its worth the punt.
  7. if you look at stove looks like a raburn or similar. and did it have a back boiler fitted and the pipes became blocked so back boiler got hotter unable to release its presure so went bang. looks the case may be wrong

  12. after having a visit from a gentleman from Ireland selling chainsaws. and fake ones on e bay. farm sales are coming up. and with the amount of them about.if you do go to a sale keep your eyes out as more than likely the fakes will be in the action for sale. can sometimes get a good buy on a genuine saw. but with them about it will be looking for the fakes from the real ones. hate to see someone part with money only to find they have a Chinese saw and with auctions buyer beware once bid and won its your lot no come back:blushing:
  13. my dad had a suburu version of one of these. panel van 4x4 what a cracking little truck went any where. late mum in law had the people carrier version carried 5 people but you knew you had 5 up but had a 1200 engine in it got 70 out of it down motorway was a bit hairey. but good fun
  14. i am self employed but contracted on certain jobs. i work hard and normally finish before the allocated time most ok but some because it was a certain time want that time so want more work doing. other jobs it is priced so its do a good job and get it done to make money. being employed you get paid if it rains, snows and can not work, then if it is fine then need to get jobs done the employer has to pay all the bills and tax and NI so not all its made out to be a boss or being self employed. done both
  15. never give any of my certificates original to anyone. unless i am there and see them photocopy them.
  16. is it for horses. can go two ways concrete posts in that makes post firm nag leans on rail and it breaks just put posts in and back fill the over time nags lean on rails and post lean over needing to be put back up and packed. i know as i had horses bloody things but love them. with a digger and post hole borer you could do a lot in a day if just back filling the holes so 100mtr day is posible if digging by hand be hard pushed unless you have a very fit 20plus on shoveler. as son in law and he can dig holes. i can not keep up or do as much as he can in a day.
  17. i have a pair of Pfanner gladiator plus class a very good and i am not small around waist. draw back back of legs get cold in winter wish i had the class c looked at getting the new Sip very good trousers like a normal trouser with the protection unlike sthil michelin man springs to mind. find a arb dealer near to you and go and look and try on then you know what is good and what fits forget getting them online. get just a good deal from the arb dealers what part of the uk are you from someone may be able to point you to a good arb dealer
  18. +1 have a echo and that is a DOG. it starts stops you have to feather it to get it run right when running good saw now using it on aspen and looks as if it likes it so is working a bit better. but not perfect. unlike my Husky starts first pull and runs cracking saw. tempted but after the one we have bit concerned to buy another one
  19. just a qestion as i thought of having the heated handle version. if you are starting and stopping does the handle still get warm. as its to do with the flywheel turning that warms it up true. i get white finger and they say heated handles reduce this.
  20. thanks for the replys have some birch plenty of hazel, beech.ash, will look for some thorn next time i do one. is alder any good.
  21. being bored with the dark winter nights. and my hedging tools all sharp was looking at making a few things. have some hazel for walking sticks but like to have a go at making spoons. what is good wood and what wood to avoid. and saw about carving knives what are good makes. read the bit about drawing out spoon on wood then cutting down to sart carving . so lets give it a go. do you need seasond wood or is green ok. trust you can advise. like to come on your spoon course but a bit far. thank you for any help
  22. lets clear things up did the chap who rang did he give you his name, and his title. NO someone is winding you up sad people. yes did he give you his number to ring him back ,no again scam. if yes ring the number and see what you get. VOSA will not ring you to say you need this type of licence. if the truck is registered with a log book then you are ok if you are still concerned then go to the local VOSA testing station and get them to check it and see what they have to say . if you are not hauling with it only using it as a agg truck then you are ok. must have a test station near you. have one in most big towns. plus what i find very strange is they would have sent you a letter to say that the have evidence that you have been using truck for such and can you explain if truck is being used for X or Y. not ring smells very smelly. maybe wrong
  23. parish lengthman/ hedge layer/coppicer.
  24. can you still get windsor chain used to get it and was a very good chain. what is the dogs do da of chain. and for normal cutting and felling what type i use super chisel as i find it better to use
  25. i use aspen in all my saws. my echo which hates to run properly runs better on aspen. did go back to normal 2 stroke but was a pain mixing the fumes coming off. also saws run longer on aspen to normal 2 stroke i beleive run faster. and run better than on normal. pity it was not a tad cheaper. so it matched normal petrol and the mix to go in still about £4 dearer.
