  4. same all around with grants going less hedges being laid. if hedgelayer is not working then coppcing is not being done it has a knock on. but its not just hedges friend is a coppicer has had no orders for thatching spars this year. and only doing a few hurdles. so quiet all around. and they give out grants to manage woodlands but missed out hedges.they want woodlands managed but hazel woods are becoming neglected and falling into disrepair. need a rethink by the forestry commission's on the grants
  5. fed up with the price of LPG and being held to ransome by the supplier. looking for a cooker that burns wood. not a raburn, aga, esse to heavy as have suspended floors and a arm and a leg. ideal two ovens with the normal hotplates on top.for what it costs in lpg in a year its got to be cheaper as logs are free

  7. official date is 1st of march when birds are supposed to start nesting then the 1st of September. but if already on a hedge you can see what is going on but things are budding so couple of weeks and that be it for the year. apart from demo hedges with dummy hedges. got one to do this year. in may.
  8. how long is a piece of string. how long is hedge, how old is thorn. what diameter is stems. blackthorn loves to knarl itself round each other so needs cutting out to get each stem on its own. what style cheshire. depends what local cutters lay Midland, or welsh style. if midland and was a good hedge £5 per mtr to lay £2.50 per mtr for stakes and binders £1.50 for cutting out and clearing brash extra if to be carted away. two cutters members of NHLS. may be willing to allow you to help lay in return for the lead. good way to learn hedgelaying with a experienced cutter. or if you can upload photo,s could well be willing to come up with a few of us and lay it. and can join in and learn to lay. let us have some more details and there is a no on this site who will help out how about it lads a weekend jolly in cheshire cutting with a few bears in the evening. im up for it Alan Yates. 12. what is needed is the dealers you have to promote aspen by having display material showing aspen and why it is good. i know a dealer and he sells and promotes it to some extent but nothing in shop for those unaware of your product. get more knowing and buying then price may come down to allow more professorial who see it on price to buy and try. i am convinced my gear runs better, runs longer and seems to have more power using it. but its not me you need to convince. its those who can only see it by its price. is it not time you as a company got those who use your product to do a comparison test to see if saws run longer on your product. them maybe yo would have converts coming to aspen and price may drop to make it more affordable in these hard times
  13. can you give me the detail of the guy who makes these saws go. like him to do the 576 and if poss the echo that be a job making that go any better
  14. i was scrub clearing this week had a fire not ideal had some thorn to get fire going then it was elder horible stuff to burn. had to make sure fire could not blow in wind as plenty of dry grass yes this time of year. banked it with earth then covered to stop wind blow next day removed earth and had some good charcoal left and still warm ideal to get fire going again worked all the days up on hill last day just banked earth p again and left it will go out and will decompose over summer but made charcoal if not deliberately. so need to get going making it this summer have plenty of old hazel to use.
