  1. the BCS range of scarifiers can be hired from the major hire companys. eg brandons, hss, speedy hire. they do a very good job so good that the moss and thatch they remove makes the mind boggle how much grass was there as for the grit peat. maybe if you are on stoney ground then may not be the answer but moss loves compacted ground. and is damp if you can get air into the substructure it gets the moss and thatch out and breaks the grass so it grows more. go and have a chat with a local groundsman who look after the bowling green or cricket squares as local may give you a better idear to clear the moss
  2. i get them from car dealers on a daily basis trying to sell me a new car how do they get my number pain in bum if you want something you go to supplier and ask. not had them from arb suppliers though.
  3. wife was with them for her dog grooming now not many mobile dog groomers she had plenty of e mails reporting to be from customers asking for prices. never saw any sale leads from it. i use large corex boards with name on outside were i am working and soon to have truck written. get more from that for a fraction of cost yellow pages. yell .com waste of money
  4. +1 on the 550xp but for hedging look at the oregon battery saw. ideal for hedging. and will do small logging for firewood. when funds alow will get one as it has a self sharpen on it so as you know with hedging chains do hit stuff there not ment to when cutting near ground. nothing worse than a blunt saw in mid flight laying hedges. as i did today hit some buried barb in hazel even though i thought it was all out that was that saw screwed up then did same with husky. then rain came so gave up and went home and had a cup of tea.
  5. if people know you sell it it will go. what i saw which is a good seller the little polysterie packaging that comes with parcels get a glass bottle fill with aspen and drop one in will not disolve. show to customers then do it with normal petrol seconds gone. plus if you have displays up showing you stock it then customers ask for it. thats how i came across it. not looked back saws, brushcutter, blower love it run brill on it.
  6. if any of you are wanting to see the new range of kubota diggers and attachments plus neuson dumpers Harper plant lopcombe corner near salisbury has two open days tomorrow and saturday the new range of diggers plus the goodies that go on them plus will have second hand plant for sale.
  7. a old gardener who i did work for had a bad lawn with moss in september he scarified the lawn taken out all the moss he then mixed 4 shovels of peat with one shovel of grit he then spread this on lawn and raked in slits left it for winter. spring he scarified again mowed all summer did the repeat process. the next year lawn was like a bowling green. and just looked after it know a groundsman does the same on cricket pitch scarifies then top dresses then goes over in spring and collects with mower the bits pulled out its drainage that needs sorting. not the ph level the scarifying and grit opens up the lawn so it can breath and moss hates dry conditions. will soon go once drainage is sorted a good scarifier to hire is a BCS cracking tools used to have 3 i hired out did the job not cheap to buy but if you have a lot to do a good investment wil last years
  8. and i thought the dog version was bad. makes you think when strimming long grass may find a young lady squatting:biggrin:
  9. yes and run over. and wrecked. and just look at you strange because it was half in road with cones directing them around.
  10. +1 looked for a 576xp just out of interest but does not list it. be interested if there is a up to date list and review of garden machinery
  11. i was clearing passing places on a rural road but a rat run. so did it mid morning. when not much traffic a bout. i had men at work signs up and had the truck with a banksman in it with lights on and flashing beacon. chap came up road moved truck in to passing place started ranting that i was impending the flow of traffic and was a hiccup in his progress along road. the banksman politely said if you have a problem speak to parish council. he drove off muttering under his breath. other drivers no problem put there hands up and some said doing a good job. just get the idiots who think its there right to do what they do every day and you are giving them grief doing essential work.
  12. looks like eastec has helped .looked at what i have and to scan it there is 80 odd pages to each part but this is given out on the course. so maybe look at downloads just to give you the headsup then do course and get books. what may be a good litle book is from the chemical company's for free is a nozzle chart ideal to see what nozzle to use comes up in the exam
  13. thats what makes me mad can bend down and pick it up then just throw it in hedge or brambles. if they can pick it up hen throw in bin its not hard. i will catch one of them one day and talk to them on the errors of there way. how would they like to have it splatter them if i was strimming and it shot out and hit them in face. hence helmet and full face visor stops it. still have to clean it up afterwards YUK:w00t:
  14. no not at all but i use super chisel chain on my saws so less kick back. and i use it on larger bits to big for smaller stuff use little echo for them but thats not got the grunt need the 550xp which has more power then can cut smaller stuff with that one and big stuff with the 576xp.
  15. thanks for info looks interesting will have a look when not half asleep
  16. all for leaving some timber for wildlife but that amount. as pther post small stuff left but rest could have been pulled out and used for timber or firewood. sorry but those who want wildlife get into this bubble which has been created that. anything be woodland meadows grasslands can not be touched or you have to leave things for the bugs and birds. go back 100plus years when woodlands and the like were managed we had more wildlife than we have now. why because most woodlands are neglected or left to rot to keep so they recon the birds and bugs happy. do not agree i believe it has the reverse if the canopy covers a wood it dies so no flowers small trees struggle the old trees fall over as past sale point date and nothing to replace as stunted at birth by no open space to grow. same for meadows and grasslands left not mown for hay then have to put cattle or sheep on in the winter to eat grass down. then have to mow it like a grassland near me because it had gone hard and brittle and animals would not eat it. rant over
  17. any agg dealer sell shear pins norm for baling equipment. and can get as many as you want.
  18. i have a 576 xp on a 20 inch bar and that flies through wood. sometimes too fast. the new 576xp auto tune is supposed to be even better saw than the normal xp if i was going for a saw then it be that one. but have the 576 so next one on a 18 inch bar will be the 560xp autotune. and running on Aspen they run better on it.
  19. well i have a echo E432 think thats right was pig to get it to run put it down aND IT WOULD STOP TO HAVE TO PULL IT OVER AND GO THROUGH SAME PROCESS AGAIN. sorry caps lock came on in full flight on keyboard changed to aspen. since running it all the time like rest of gear i can pull it over on choke starts push choke in and away it goes leave it ticking over pick it up and away it goes. changed saw now it runs on aspen and can not prove it but seems to run longer on a fill up. will not go back to pump fuel for any of my gear when new ride on comes will be run on aspen 4. and will time how long it runs on aspen to normal fuel. await news on the aspen derv when you hear Eddie. be interesting to try in truck
  20. does alder have a red tinge round edge of cord and whitish in middle. if so have some in wood. one wood never came across before. is it a rare tree or does it like a paticular soil to grow in. the ones i have seen are poor specimens but are on a devide between chalk and clay gravel. and what can you use it for apart from burning be good to put it to good use got plenty of fire wood
  21. plus 1 on the petzl mine has cracked not a year old but very good helmet. comfertable to wear. unlike the normal helmets. seen the one i want belgian fire fighters use them can be used on the ground or in the air £160 for one forest and arb have them
  22. you can get a blade like a mower blade to go on sthil strimmers better than a tri blade. saw one in action on brambles made light work of them and does not tangle like a tri blade. if honda did one have it on my brushcutter. as for chain saw makes me cringe thinking about doing it accident waiting to happen. or other post get a flail mower or finger mower flail mower better will go through anything so no need to worry about hidden obstacles
  23. +1 its the way forward there light no fuel to worry about a oil fill will last a charge. pull trigger it cuts let go its stops so no pulling or running saws. ideal up a tree for limb work. or hedgelaying as for models. i am still looking at the oregen Forest and Arb winchester doing them for £500 including spare battery inc vat.
  24. thanks matt will order some and stick up they may then get the hint
  25. got the photos of the hazel hedge on phone but will not sync to pc but some good cutters doing some good hedges. not your virgin hedge but real old hedge. and as digga said got to be careful with old thorn as brittle. chain saw and sharp side axe to finish. but got to get it untangled from the other stems first. nice to see different styles from around the country.not much time left and that be it untill september. enjoy laying hedges. and have to say doing them in winter in some ways is better if it was a summer job be a hot job to do. still got a demo hedge in may at sparsholt to lay. see if i get someone come along and ask to buy the hedge so they can plant it in garden:blushing:
