  1. have a skoda roomster what a car 1.4 A1 engine done 130k and not missed a beat. cracking cars. they do the scout which is variable 4 wheel drive. but taken my one on places i would think was a 4x4 place just went no prob. does 60 to the gallon. new ones tax is low due to emissions. do not think twice on a skoda cracking cars. shame the pick up is still not available. boot space on roomster is huge with back seats out 2 min job got 5 bales of hay in it. with seats in i used for my job chain saws, strimmer, blower plus all the other bits. and was putting a builders bag full of rubbish in back. can not fault them i bit. forget the old image. better than a VW or audi. and less money
  2. i believe you can get nylon ones now which will take to having dirt grind in them. only know as a 4x4 diehard gave me the info as my nissan will need new ones sometime. and sugested putting them on. what i heard about these little beasts will go for a hunt for one be ideal for doing small jobs instead of using nissan. and daughter can drive it as small but 4x4
  3. does any one know who carved the owl on the old tree outside tesco,s at burseldon done a few years back but a nice job made out of a tree which had its top snapped off in the gales. always wanted to know who carver was
  4. ever though of doing a calender with your photo,s on ideal for those into trees or christmas cards bit late now. if you can be nice to see a photo of a blackthorn in bloom may time
  5. it maybe a climbers saw but because it is so small and light ideal for laying hedges. and normally do not hit the earth but when cutting back of pleaches can sometimes nick the dirt.
  6. your fire looks ok same as mine. mine has not been producing that much heat. i started to split mine smaller so instead of in 4,s 8ths and mixing birch ash,oak and beech. also as other post using just a small mount of coal to get going so i have a base then wood once its hot put on bigger logs. but also no wind so job to get it to draw when a bit of wind they draw better. also is your fire cement around your stack into fire ok mine is a bit loose so need to repack to stop air being drawn in through gap between stove and flue pipe. just read your post more thats not going to help having a gap between flue and plate will cause a drawback so damping down air to fire. if you are getting 400c on your flue its producing heat. open doors let the heat out into room when going. just because its a log burner you can still have doors open. find get a lot of heat in room when open then shut up as a ambient heat. but i am thinking it comes down to stoves. want to get a new one eg charnwood 8kw. newer ones seem to produce heat better. and stay in mine never is in all night have to get it going in morning. there is a chart you can get you work out your floorspace in your house and it lets you know what stove will work best. maybe yours is a bit small and heat is going around house so you think its not producing much when it may be working fine but loosing it around the house.
  7. do not know much about id of plants but not watercress. looks very much like cotoneaster, or one of its family.
  8. would be idela for laying hedges is small and light. do not need to have to keep starting and stopping saw. its the way forward. for doing small work. can not make my mind up though to go for the oregen has a self sharpening device so save having to use a file if you do eat dirt with it.
  9. one way to take them down. what size 360 did you use to move trunks as some big bits of wood.
  10. so what did they pull both hiabs out with. hate to think of cost to get them out and clean up job who pays the bill fvan driver first hiab

  12. get a inverter for van changes 12volt to 240volt. Forest and arb do the oregen and where getting in the husky said it would do 2 hours cutting on a charge so if stopping and starting poss 4 or 5 hours
  13. if its just labour i use a necastle drainage spade to dig a hole drop in move on to next. can do a lot of mtrs in a day planting. depends how much you want to earn a day. work out how much. say plant 30 mtrs a day maybe more devide by say 30 you get your price per mtr for labour
  14. never saw you on bbc south or meridian matt was that blandford you where going through at the market square. gone to shaftsbury you could of been in lights been there all day
  15. if you are supplying plants guards and canes £2.50 for 5 plants 90cm 5 plants to the mtr staggard diagalony canes 20p each guards £1 each. then planting them. i charge about same as laying a hedge £10 per mtr including plants. ideal is laying teram down first to kill weeds then cutting a cross and planting or the amount you want to do single furrow plough go along line plant up and back fill. just got to keep on weeds or will take over in first year or so i have not included looking after them once planted need to alow if cliant wants it to go back in summer cutting back vegetation so £11.50 a mtr including looking after not far out. plus getting plants the mount you want can get them delivered free try Murray Mc Clean Abingdon oxfordshire does very good hedging plants never had any die from murrry where abouts in country are you. more than happy to help out if not that far. just to get you going.
  16. saw some pictures in national geographic of the president tree. some 250 ft high the guys climbing it looked like ants. one at top one in middle and one on ground. how long with a rope and harness would it take to climb it. it was being checked to see if it was ok what a job
  17. if so many getting this problem why is it not being flagged up with sthil by the dealers who sell them. if you are getting oil or petrol down you it can do damage to skin so is a health and safety issue and needs to be redressed. more that bend ears of suppliers and want tank changed for old style it may make sthil wake up and do something
  18. the husky is 35volts. the oregen say it will cut for 2 hours on full chat how many run a saw non stop for 2 hours. not used one interested in using one. ideal for cutting small limbs as only a 10inch bar with small pico chain. oregen does have a self sharpener included. so getting near ground if you hit the ground you can resharpen it in 5 seconds
  19. 6am not a bit now over a 1inch and falling heavy main road now a single track and slowing down. glad of 4x4. but no work job to strim with snow and wood will be frozen stay indoors:thumbup:
