  1. go for a 550xp Bunny chaser kindly let me try his saws a 550xp 560xp and 576xp autotune. the 550xp what a saw went through wood so quick. and you can get some cracking deals on these saws.
  2. sorry to hear the loss of your dog. just got a new one rescued him jackxyorkshire 2 year old only got him today knows he is comfy sat on lap while i type. let him settle in and he can come out with me. never had one this small.
  3. just interested what others use what harness and make. i did use the ones which came with machine but they became slack after a while so invested in a husqvarna one cost £80 but worth the money adjust 4 ways so is nice and tight yet comfortable and do not know i have strimmer on when working
  4. if you are going to cut a lawn then you would check it for any stones eg using a rake just to clear any. if you had done all that and a stone did get picked up would you be liable for damage as you did a search of grass and removed any objects. interesting need as you say a begal
  5. larch is so underrated its has such a lovely red color with the grains running through it. when its finished will take some photo,s of it at present i rather not. needs work when dry
  6. dorest hedgelayer does your style south of england £5 per mtr to lay £2.50 mtr stakes binders £1.50 to clear brash on site. depends on how old full of ivy if its a dog hedge then double time it takes to clear all the rubbish out of hedge and burn it up loose days just doing that re no acess to site verey rarley do i take anything other than truck on site most of what comes out can be burnt on site if landowner agrees if not lot of work to hand ball off site

welcome AL good bunch on hear will always if can try and help which they do. on hear more than watching telly now. more interesting and learn a lot. just need to get my head round these arial swingers types when they say about there gear not a clue:biggrin:
  9. yes you do need a waste carrier licence. EA do them there is two types one is free the other is £150 per year . depends where you are going to tip house recycling centers will not take trade waste or in hampshire you can have 12 permits a year to take some. other centres looking at £25 plus per visit to take in so need to work out how many loads how much per load fuel and your time. can work out not a cheap job.
  10. i do not know how long they had been at the timber yard not long. mistake made to start was it was screwed in place underneath this made it bow like a banana. so unscrewed it all and got it flat then as you suggested put batons on bottom and scwred only at ends to allow it to move. at present working fine and staying flat. what i will do is get a moisture meter as need it for logs so will check it for dpm and when its below 10% will glue together and take your suggestion of finish. have to say it looks nice and can get 14 people round it as we did christmas day. and it was a cheap table for its size cost me £50 for timber
  11. very good website to the point colors blend in good photo,s. can he do me a website.
  12. son in law was looking for a pair to replace his oregon trousers looked at the sip progress look good trousers
  13. well done on getting second you must be chuffed hard comp to win as some of the best cutters judge it. and some good cutters who have been trained like you how did you score and what did you need to do to get that first place. i know Garry and co would have said. with that under your belt no prob with Surrey. have a go on the island 23rd of febuary that's a good comp be some good cutters for that event. well done . conditions looked good up to your armpit in mud yuk yesterday was dreadful howling rain bloody cold to lay in that weather your all mad.
  14. had to do some work in surrey and there where a no of scots pines which where being cleared to take back to heath land. we took 6 home with us before christmas put one indoors and gave 3 away to family others we offered them to said bit bare .ours when dressed. and did not drop one needle unlike others. i know what i will get this year a scots pine
  15. i bought some larch planks from my timber mill its 8inch wide by 2inch deep timber which i had rebated to slot together. i knew its was green so had to alow for drying out. that's my question how long will it take to dry in a kitchen so is warm. what i do not want to do is glue it together and it expands which it did so i took the 2"x1" batons of back let it settle then re-screwed to keep it level so can still use it as a table. and when it has seasoned whats best to treat it with to give it a watertight finish and bring the color of the larch out. love larch all my floors in bungalow are larch and have a lovely red hue to them. but they are 100 plus years old and as good as new
  16. having been on the road with IT for many years and abuse that laptops get. my advice which will be strong in a truck a tough book like a laptop but as in title tough will allow to be abused. come with all you want internet, office products. and not that expencive. trouble with normal laptops, ipads they are fragile. and iphones and like screen a bit small for doing normal work. most of the engineers who fix white products, boilers use these. and can set up phone with one so you get all your e mails texts, and anything else on to toughbook. will last you yrears my tosh laptop unless i kept it in bag used to get mullered. plus it was a pain to charge. as with toughtops come with all the bits including cradle if you want it to put in truck on a stand
  17. sorry to hear not much work around. have to say not a lot of hedgelaying about. can not understand it there are the grants so why is the work not out there. friend who coppices has found it a bit dry only doing a few spars. hope it picks up for you if i get a long hedge will give you a call. be nice 6k of hedge to lay. if any of you arb guys get any work that could be laid do not foreget us hedgelayers. thank you

  19. i use avg not having any problems. but norton is a mare. will not use it causes so many problems. hence i got rid of it Microsoft is fine but peace of mind i use avg. and antimalware. and adblock but disabled for this site or would hang.
  20. like your setup ideal do me down to the ground something like that. the grab on arm is that a item you can buy or one you had made makes a good job of handling timber. how big can you lift with it eg diamiter of wood to lenght
  21. the best saw i eever had was a oleo mac 45cc had two cracking saws never failed just went on and on and the timber they cut loads. looked at getting a new one but are they still as good as the old orange model. our husky 576xp is a good saw.
  22. if its a stone you picked up then your responsible for the damage. they may have ended the contract but thats the trouble can do work for many years then just decide lets try someone else . could be price. could be they do other work for them so using one firm. just take on chin pay for it and walk away with your head high may come back asking you to do the work make it unpleasent and thats a door shut. not worth it
  23. try one of the site sponser forest and arb winchester he does echos good prices
  24. veolia poles lane otterbourne are taking huge amounts for biomass as for chipping it. do not know. is it no good for firewood. if it is pm have the space.
