  1. £50.00? Surely for the extra zeros that's a 390xp, steak and other favours!
  2. Niko, check the date on the post, it's 2 years old!
  3. Does mrs Santa not like shoes and clothing? Give her £50 to go shopping
  4. +1 for the 372, unless Santa could stretch to a 390?!
  5. Needle valve sticking
  6. And I bet it's blacker than the ace of spades, apart from the silver shimmer of disintegrated engine. You are aware that it's recommended you change the oil every 100-500 hours? You should have at least changed it about 30 times.

    LV Circuit

You just have to keep explaining you're a tree surgeon (and not a utility cutter), that you need a shutdown as you have no protective tools, etc. And please note we take forever to sort a shutdown for domestic (ironically faster than for us) but it won't be until about February! The number is the 0800 number on the website

Have you requested a shutdown? Otherwise some plum (like me) will get sent out to survey it!
  10. Hasawa: work is to only be done by people who are TRAINED COMPETENT. For example, if you bugger up doing tree work, say a dismantle, and you're cutting bits 18"+ and you haven't got cs32, your insurance could dodge the pay-out. The same applies when working near powerlines, rail lines and anything else you need special approval for.
  11. Floppy brake handles, faulty oilers and exploding clutches. Although a very customisable saw with all the parts!
  12. This is very true, also in your area it's either Wpd or Scottish power, it sounds like LV, but as it has 3 open wires, you're likely to find that the potential voltage is 400+ volts and would definitely be a shutdown. Shutdowns have a 2-3 month wait. I recommend you ring it in for the power company to do, because if you bugger up, you're in a heap of trouble, by choosing to do it yourself, you accept FULL liability, including compensation to customers if you cause outages longer than the allotted hours.

The future? No! How many 4-strokes run on their sides
  14. You would do well to get a tachometer for tuning. It's difficult to tell 500rpm, but that can be the difference between a seize. I could say which way is which, but you'd be better off reading the 'what's on your bench' thread to learn properly
  15. 395xp and a jungle muffler
  16. I thought they wanted more than technical information, with the title 'just a quickie spud'
  17. Husky is on 2nd gen, the problem for Stihl is they have the old x-torq and autotune, so it all goes through the carburettor. Check the make of carb, if it's zama, you'll probably need a new carb
  18. Nor have I, but they have to be better than the adjustable carb versions (they can't get worse)
  19. The non-m-tronic models by Stihl are obsolete now, the adjustable carb saws are old stock
  20. I don't see why the general tree surgeon type wouldn't run the picco chain, chain compatibility is then with the 200/201, so should anything go tits up, you have an immediate swap, carry half the chains, one size of file only and a spare bar, as opposed to a selection of files, assorted chains and different bars

    Smokers.

Blah blah blah... Filthy habit... Kills you... Smells... You can spot the ex-smokers a mile off! I like my little cancer sticks!
  22. They used to have the dual port magnum advertised
  23. Australian Stihl site
  24. Best 2 mid-range saws? That j'red is a dinosaur!
  25. Nope! 460 mag and 660 mag both have higher power ratings! I stand by my previous statement 100%
