  1. Just a little heads up, the materials for that will be sub 500 if done by your self in aly planking Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. I've done a lot of these over the years in elm and cedar and nearly all have split regardless of when they were cut but I have never had any complaints. I planed and sanded all mine to 240 grit then a couple of coats of food safe oil to show the grain better, the last ones I did in elm looked a treat Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. I had my first 550 for 4 years and it was faultless, only got a new one cause I wanted heated handles and no issues yet with the new one. I'd like to add the the old one was sold onto a friend that uses it professionally with no issues. Must just have a duff one Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. That's brilliant thank you, I hadn't considered allowing for movement. I will be pegging a piece of oak in a similar fashion to your magazine rack but it will serve no other purpose than to add support Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. Very nice! May I ask how you have fixed the legs on? I have a coffee table I'm sorting on with similar style legs. I was thinking about dowel pegs into the top then a piece of 2x2 screwed into both the legs and the top for extra support Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. Is a telescopic boom really that necessary? I know it helps in some situations but I drove a tractor and loader for 5 years and never really felt I could do better with with a telescopic boom. Never really found anything I couldn't do either to be fair. Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  7. What size skiptooth is it you use? I have been looking for 3/8 .58 for ages but can only find it in the US Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. I can't seem to open any links to youtube etc at the moment. When it tries to redirect I just get this screen

    Tiny echo!

A friend of mine keeps chucking chains on his sigihara bar too
  10. I watch a bit of tv but most is utter rubbish. I just use apps on my phone to stream box sets and films now
  11. Really pleased with how this beech came out today. Been climbing part time for 4 years and only just getting the hang of doing reductions without checking if im cutting in the right place or not. The spec was for 3m and a 15% thin, not sure I took that out but then the tpo app also said it was 20m (more like 14) so I just did what I felt was best
  12. I'm not sure how much of a comparison this is but we got my m500 in the old man's old style peugeot expert van with the discharge spout taken off

Not sure if there's a minimum but I'm approx 80kg and used to run 3 wraps 2 plat's and it worked fine. Never had any problems with it not holding or biting too hard and it self tended very well with enough rope weight below.
  14. That sounds good coming from someone with a reputation like that, I'm still interested to see what gains can be had
  15. I have yes, keep thinking I'll upgrade soon but never get round to it and to be fair...the m500 will handle everything I want it to do atm and I know the machine well so it never let's me down
  16. Has anyone had there's ported and muffler modded yet? If so...how much differance has it made
  17. I'm sure I have asked before but how much to convert to a quick release discharge and does the extended option alter chip throw at all?
  18. As above. Warm soapy water but with the addition of and airline if there's stubborn grit that won't come out and I use SAS maintenance lubricant
  19. I switched from hiflex to the pfanner arborist and I couldn't be happier. Much comfier and better fitting than the hiflex. With regards to sizing...I can't remember what size my hiflex were but I've a 30 waist and I'm in the xs pfanner with the long leg
  20. These aren't dispel I know but it's the same principle
  21. Just draw file the original angle underneath

I spoke to forest and arb this week and they have just been told November but no specific date has been issued

I still have my 2510 haha and won't part with it till I know the new one is coming, the 280 was very disappointing and I won't be keeping it, maybe they'll let me keep the 2510 instead...
  24. There are calculations and can be found by googling. Personally I would use a 3 stage ram but be careful, as I understand it it is now illegal to make or modify a trailer without having it all done professionally and certified I believe
  25. Yes it's the better bar and chain to get, I ran my 2510 on a modded ms 150 bar till it twisted, which is the same as the Sugi and I'm currently running the stock bar and can honestly say the narrower kerf of that Sugi is far better than the slightly wider stock chain
