  1. I've become aware of a 2012 jensen a530 with 530 hours and a 2015 gm 150 with 350 hours. Fancy going for one of them but not sure which is the better/safer buy. Both are similar money, what's people's opinions on the two? Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. Ahh okay, thought it may have been to run the tiny stihl chain. I've got one of the Sugi multi mount bars from Rob which comes up a little smaller than 12" I believe and it's 3/8 . 43 so the same kerf as the small stihl chain. Certainly flies on it Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. Why did you want to convert the 360 to a 1/4? I believe Rob may have some gb bars in the offers section on one of his pages for the 2511. Same chain as the ms150 Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. I have and have used them quite a bit. My only concern is there's more to go wrong but it's not crossed off the list Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. I'm sure the offer from Tom is a good one but in honesty, if I were to get a forst it would have to be new for the guarantee. On account of wills snapping a shaft, a friend of mines st8 needing a new ecu at 100hrs and a company I sub to has has several problems with their st6. I'm not sure what timberwolf are like for backup and service in my ares but I know greenmech have been fantastic with a friends 130 Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. Doesn't necessarily need to be sub 750 as I have a trailer licence but I also don't really need or want to be chipping bigger timber as I'm happy for the logs. I would consider a larger machine but we are talking more money then, that's the only reason I've hinted towards 6" machines. Also considered I may be better with regards to service and repairs if I went for a cheaper machine such as the tw160 or the gm130 which I know is a good machine Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  7. [emoji23] obviously it was meant to say house haha Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. I'd love to and to be fair idea get a 230 if I thought it feasible due to the reviews I've heard but not long since bought my first hose so still settling into all the payments and feel the extra on finance may be a little too much just st the moment Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  9. That's handy to know as I have just seen one with a 34hp turbo. I'm quite mechanically minded. Although one would hope I would never need to, I can do repairs my self if there's parts available. Realistically my gut is telling me to go tw 150. Not really a fan but they are easy to maintain and parts are readily available should something go wrong, just wondered if there was anything else out there for similar money to a decent second hand 150 that I should be considering? Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  10. I'll hopefuly be looking to upgrade chipper in the not too distant future but unsure what to get. My budget points towards a second hand chipper. I have used a timberwolf 150 quite a bit and haven't been all that impressed to be honest so had considered the gm 15-23 instead but haven't used one of them so not sure what it's like however from experience the wider in feed works much better. I'm basically looking for people's opinions and most importantly if there are any known faults with any that I should know about. I'll be upgrading from a jobeau m500 and to be fair it's been a good chipper but not without its problems which is what really worries me about buying second hand. I know the m500 inside and out and have had to repair quite a bit but it's been relatively cheap however repairs on something larger aren't going to be so cheap. Thanks in advance George Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  11. Would I be right in thinking it would give a smaller saw the ability to carry a larger bar without too much fuss? I only ask as I have often though that instead of getting something like a 576xp for example, I could just get a 25" bar and run skip tooth on my 60cc saw to save not only on the financial outlay but also save on weight and bill when climbing Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. I have often wondered if a potato canon design would work. Doesn't use compressed air but spray a bit of flammable aerosol in a chamber and ignite with a hob sparker. It will ping a satsuma 200 yards consistently so can't see why it wouldn't work Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. I have a custom made trailer. The chipper sits on the front and chip strait into a tipping chip box on the back. Here's a link to a video I made of the chipper, it's quite long so feel free to skip through but it gives a really good idea of its capabilities Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  14. I run a jobeau m500 and trailer and have done for several years now. It's surprising how little processing is actually required with this machine due to its wide hopper. Yes it is a bit more work and effort but it's a good machine none the less and certainly earns it's keep. It'll make chip faster than a tw125 and block less but due to the lack of feed rollers it is a bit more effort to do so. Quantity wise, I've done several days where I have produced 20+ cube of chip a day so if you've a mind to you can chip a serious amount of material in a day. In my opinion, if you are just starting out a little gravity fed chipper is a great starting point and gives you a feel for the industry and running your own business without the massive out lay of a big chipper. A final point I would like to make regarding the m500 is that if you act as an antistress so to speak ie: pull the log back before the engine dies too much, it will take more than 5" although I tend not to do that much as that's a log anyway Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. And I will add that the dmax was uprated to 3500kg gross for the tippers Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  16. Interesting and informative but proves nothing. The figure are for the standard factory vehicles not tippers. The 130 flat bed is 14xxkg whereas the dmax tipper is 1400kg. Put all the tipping gear on the landrover and it would be lucky to get 1000kg in it legally Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. So how much legaly is the payload on the defender? Bet it isn't close to what a dmax tipper is at a 1.4 ton payload Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. I'd say the Jap truck would have higher load capacity and will also be much more reliable. I wouldn't touch a 110/130 to be honest Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. In total it's approx 800kg leaving 1.8 ton for what ever load you want Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app

    Stihl vs ECHO

I have the 2511 and had the 2510 before and it's a blinding little saw. My bigger top handle (360tes) only comes out on big dismantles now as the 2511is so good. Handles everything up to and above bar length (10") and you don't notice it on your harnes at all. I also hardly bother taking a silky too. I know I'm maybe a little bias as I own the echo but I have used both the 150 and 2511 and the echo is hands down the better of the two Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  21. I'd give forest and arb a call for any replacement parts. If you have a Google you should be able to find a pdf parts catalogue with diagrams etc to download. I personally wouldn't change any parts unless they actually need replacing however a good strip down and clean out with an air line wouldn't go a miss. With regards to bar and chain get yourself on chainsaw bars/sugihara bars. Mine is running on a 12" sugi pro light multimount bar with 3/8 .43 chain and due to its narrow kerf it flies! Lastly...I expect this to be your saw of choice once you have given it a try. Mine tops the stihl 201 hands down in my opinion Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  22. The wee chipper has been out earning it's keep today on this conifer hedge removal and made approx 14 cube of chip Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  23. Not a bad idea to be honest. My idea basically came out of the need for chip capacity as when I started out I only had a suzuki jimny however I quickly outgrew it understandably due to the weight when loaded. My only suggestion would be to try and design something that can be removed easily as it'll be a real pita to get tipped otherwise Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  24. I've gone through phases of dislike with my wee chipper setup due to niggly little issues with the chipper but now I have got on top of them I couldn't really be happier with it at the moment. The m500 is a blinding little chipper that punches above its weight and got some really good chip capacity with 4 cube in the trailer and a further 2.5 cube in the truck if required and best of all...it's all legal on weight . What's everyone else's wee chipper setup? Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
  25. I used a company called service metals. You'll need to download their road transport catalogue to get the product code. Get your measurements sorted and give them a call to order Sent from my SM-G920F using Arbtalk mobile app
