  1. Sorry if this bores anyone as it's another what's this worth post. I have been asked to do some rings for wedding table center pieces but have no idea how much to say. I have done one up as an example. They will all be 4 year seasoned English elm, sanded to 120 grit and oiled with boiled linseed oil. Can anyone shed any light/suggest how much I should charge? Here's the first one.

The chain is stihl although I'm not sure which one and the bar is a 12" sigihara pro light with multi mount, I believe it also comes in 14" and 16". Just have a word with Rob D at chainsawbars and he will point you in the right direction

I completely agree. After doing the mod on my little echo years ago to take the ms150 i have been looking for a way to run the 360tes on .43. Thanks to Rob D my 360tes is now on 3/8 .43 and the differance between that and standard .50 is surprising to say the least. It completely changes the saw
  4. I've got a 30" waist and climb in a skylotech kolibri click without any bother
  5. I'll agree that I don't often take more than 1 or 2 wraps but what I do do often is use half a wrap, just a pin or no wraps. In these low friction situations a wrap or 2 in the tree is gonna be a pain in the ass and in my opinion it'll slow the job down. Plus when it's comes time to pull the line back to the climber you will constantly be pulling on a wrap making the man on the grounds job harder
  6. Gonna have to agree with Mr Bullman here. I see it being pretty pointless having the friction decide in the tree, as pointed out, you are always going to need varying amounts of friction which is none adjustable if it's up in the tree.
  7. I'd like some 3/8 .58 skip chain for one if at all possible
  8. My cs2510tes is nearly as quick as that as standard...

I can tell you from experience with mine that you most certainly can. The strop gets in the way a little but didn't bother me with the small carry tool

Just checked my lanyard loop and it appears to be held in by some sort of metal clip so I'm assuming it's an issue that had been addressed

Mines black too so I'm hoping it's the same thing. I did have a fiddle when I first got it but after this I'll be checking again. Not gonna be dropping this one on the strop though, I like that the lanyard loop is positioned so you can slip it strait on a carry tool like the husky topper

I'll have a look at mine in the morning and report back. Not good if this is the case though

First day out today with it fitted with the ms 150 bar and chain conie bashing and all I can say is wow. I loved my cs260tes but this thing blows it out of the water! Feels no heavier than my silky when on my harnes, very well balanced and ergonomic and it cuts like a beast. Easily handles bar length timber. Best of all, very little fatigue due to its light weight. I can see this saw getting some serious use

The bar and chain I used is that of the ms150 (1/4 .43) and yes it had to be modded. If you go back through this thread I have uploaded some pics with an explanation of how to do it if you fancy having a go. It does make a noticeable differance to cut speed

Correct, it's all down to a difference in kerf, the standard cutting gear for the saw is .50 gauge and the stihl is .43. The narrower chain just needs less power to pull it through. I have just put my cs360tes on a 3/8 .43 bar and chain and that's made a massive difference to its cutting performance

So yeah...the itch has been scratched!! Very impressed so far. Was good with the standard cutting gear but is a different saw altogether with the stihl .43 bar and chain on it. Pushing moderately in bar length (10") timber and it wasn't slowing . With the bar and chain on it is lighter than my cs260tes power head with no bar and chain and it's considerately smaller and better balanced. Over the moon with it already and I've only had it an hour haha
  17. No as it's already got the 3/8 sprocket on, it's just a narrower kerf chain. I'll see if I can get a cut comparison video some time soon. It's a very apparent and impressive improvement in cut speed.
  18. For anyone interested, I changed the cutting gear on mine today with the 3/8 .43 bar and chain combo Rob D had on offer over the weekend and what a difference. At a guess I'd say it's a good couple of seconds faster cutting in bar length timber

Had my 260tes over 3 years now, needs a carb clean but apart from that it's faultless. Shame as I have a big itch for the 2510 that needs scratching haha
  21. The suspension lift was already done when I bought it but it basically consisted of some 2" lift springs and some extended pro comp shocks and extended brake lines. The tyres are insane turbo special track that's are 31" tall. If you are considering doing one I would have a look on the big jimmy forum for knowledge and sales etc. 31" tyres don't fit on a standard 2 " lift, I had to trim the arches and some of the internal bits to make them fit and get full flex without any catching. It's not a hard job but was wort it in my opinion, I'm not a fan of really jacked up vehicles, I prefer a big tyre that fits the arch nicely on a minimum lift keeping center of gravity lower. Don't be fooled into thinking 2" of life isn't very much though, this thing had some serious flex and half the wheel would dissappear inside the arch when on full flex. Sadly I had to sell this one to make way for a larger more capable truck but I'll have another when funds allow.

This is how I have been led to believe they should come as standard. I believe forest and arb supply it with this bar and chain combo

Yeah I see that with the air filter housing, looks like both really, handle assembly and air filter housing from the stihl but the bottom looks like the husky
