    thats a good looking mogie...
  2. thanks but seeing as it's been ringed up it's firewood to most people.
  3. can't say i like the lid of these but nice shapes.
  4. i guess it would depend on quality and i don't know the price i'm afraid, i do know that it's not cheap.
  5. ailanthus is just as able to grow in just about anything. i've heard it's even been found in cracked concrete...
  6. are you referring to western red or true cedar.
  7. just heard that leonard nimoy has gone to the final frontier, no one can pull off a character like he did with spock.
  8. should dry really fast just keep the mould away as it rots just as quickly.
  9. as a guy who likes top turn bowls i'll suggest them. i have a bowl saver so could turn nests, any chance of having some? Steve
  10. does anyone have some dry 4-5" walnut or fancy rippled wood? 12 wide would be good as i've been asked to make a couple of ball ornaments and expect that i'll need to glue it together. happy to pay for postage.
  11. whats "sporting"??? i think you mean spalting.
  12. make sure they are cut in the dead of winter before sap has risen. if it still hasn't you should be ok.
  13. Glenrothes is a bit of a long way though. pity i could have made lots of them from one that size. never mind, anyone else?
  14. still looking for laburnum guys, after what ti kindly sent me i'll need more as i've got what i can from it. 8" stems and up please.
  15. all depends on what sizes you need to cut. i bought an SIP 14" bandsaw and although it's not a spectacular industrial machine it does the job. it's a good alternative as a cheaper machine unless you can spend many hundred's on one. my advice is do your research...
  16. finally got round to taking a couple of snaps of how i keep my tools. the knife racks are fairly cheap versions of the 24" length and anyone can drill holes in a board and mount it. the rest of the mess comes naturally...
  17. should try to find someone who can cut them from the offcuts of oak framers...
  18. that angle grinder looks lethal... try buying one of these to do wide boards... it's a wadkin RK 50" thicknesser:drool:
  19. sounds like your planer was either blunt bladed or perhaps you were going against the grain? using one is really just to remove high points like i did with this table top. all boards had cupped by 1/4" and using the electric hand plane and eventually the belt sander with 100 -180 belts got it almost dead flat. they are 2x 12" boards sandwiching a 14" one.
  20. here's one wilson PAK 12" x 7" planer thicknesser single phase | eBay
  21. Peat, check out ebay for a 240v one and you should have some joy.
  22. as a cabinet make you should be aware of what the most popular sizes you used were. alot of money depends on the quality of the wood how well it was processed and how well it's dried. top quality stuff you will be looking at £80ft3 and lower range £50
  23. if they need raised areas removing then use an electric hand planer then go over it with 100 grit and refine.
  24. mine arrived at 4am i deleted it immediately.
  25. why stain or lacquer a rosewood???
