  18. looks like a car seat to me...
  19. firstly you mill it into boards of varying thicknesses then you can either cut bowl blanks from them and seal the edges or you can leave as boards and cut blanks once dry. as a turner i like thick stuff so 4-6" but you can easily cut 2-3" too.
  20. look at my first post on page one. you can see how i do it.
  21. yep, it's a great song and that was a good version but prefer ugly kid joes.
  22. ok, thats basicly what i was going to point out but bobh has stopped me needing to. there are many ways to turn dan but there are some basic principal that we all stick to. i don't have a camera to film how i turn a bowl but peruse youtube and you should find plenty.
  23. if they are green wood then i would have said no more than £20ft3. put on a premium for a wide board and another because it's elm and say £40-50ft3. i would not expect to pay more than £200.
  24. not heard of many people using sweet chestnut as it can mark fairly easily. i would suggest something a bit harder. elm, oak, ash, beech, maple, robinia, hornbeam and cherry are all good flooring woods.
  25. why not make fence posts from something that shouldn't rot... robinia, greenheart and ekki will last a lifetime...
