  1. i must admit i see plenty of spelling and grammar errors but don't know if they are down to that auto type thing you get on mobiles. people not putting a ' in the abbreviation of i will sounds like there are alot of sick people about. i did see phone spelled with an f the other day. they're, there and their get so mixed up it's untrue. in general we realise what the poster is trying to say so it's not a problem.
  2. what he said...
  3. here is some of the sycamore phil gave me. stunning wood isn't it.
  4. never heard of it.
  5. bit of yew isn't it? boards that small won't need to be treated the same as a 2' tree. when i cut stuff up that size i just leave it around the workshop. i'll seal the ends if the species has a tendency to shake but otherwise i leave it be.
  6. what on earth is sago???
  7. yes it is
  8. be on the safe side mate, rough it out first and seal the end grain.
  9. sorry didn't see that. do you think it can be turned?
  10. are you saying i guessed correctly or are you just stating it's size?
  11. it's not ivy is it?
  12. some stunning stuff. i got the skills but ain't got the wood:sad:
  13. give me a close up of the end grain freshly sawn so i can see the grain in detail and it may give me a realistic chance of guessing correctly. other than that, it's a tree.
  14. no oil can stop the greying process...
  15. i want boards as i've a rip saw and will cut what i need out of them myself. i'm after one board for the mo as the customer wants a prototype set but if there is more i'll be interested.
  16. like the ends beau, how did you do them?
  17. has no one got anything?
  18. poplar is very good i believe. not sure on other specs though.
  19. no oil will stop greying it may just take longer.leave it over the summer then apply in the autumn and you should get plenty of grey colour if it's facing the sun.
  20. look's a beauty, try not to waste the branches if they are colourful as you should be able to sell them to turners.
  21. don't tell delabodge, he'll want the wood. something that old should be milled.
  22. has no one got ant straight ash for me? if it's very well air dried i'll consider that.
  23. any large elm is worth milling. i would be interested in a sample to send to america to be added to the wood database.
  24. has anyone got any kiln dried ash at 2 1/2" thick please. what price would it be? thanks Steve
