  1. i've lots of sycamore if you are interested?
  2. they are perfectly available just ridiculously expensive. i have a dewalt router and think they are the bees knees. think mine is the dw625ek.
  3. try a dozen coats of danish oil or perhaps you could buy a tin of osmo and put a couple of coats on it. i wouldn't worry about the colour as the sun will blend them in in about 12 months.
  4. nice looking stuff there, get those ends pva'd with a couple of coats and restack the pile in the shade.
  5. right, i've come to the conclusion that i'm addicted to taking pics of this spectacular timber but i don't care... i've started to finish this beautiful platter that is about 19 1/2" x 1 3/4". the first coat of danish has gone on the back and its started to really bring out the colour. i'm going to try to build up a few layers and buff it to a high sheen. the figure is extra amazing in one corner as that is part of a crotch. .
  6. i must say turtlewoods that i've been very impressed with this "cheap saw" and in 5-6 years it's the first trouble i've had. i will try all that has been suggested (if i can do it) and if i need help i know where to ask. just on the off chance, is there anyone local who could pop in and show me a few maintenance tips???
  7. as delabodge says, details are required mate. what sizes, how many, what is the end use, rough sawn or planed/sanded and what species would you want???
  8. hi all my ryobi saw wont start and i'm afraid i don't know too much about engines so don't know how to diagnose whats wrong. i dusted off the air filter and cleaned the spark plug as it was a bit sooty. will the plug need replacing? it's not even sounding like it's going to start and would like some help. thanks in advance. ps it's been fine so far.
  9. how are they going to take it home if they buy it then???
  10. good to see there are a few companies still using 4" blades. i think stenner will make what the customer wants but you pay for it...
  11. found this on ebay, looks the business... Mobile Sawmill | eBay all mills should be able to fit 5' then non would go to waste because there are no mills with that capacity.
  12. what in the blazes is this doing in the firewood forum??? it should be milled if its a good log. phone stiles and bates and they may buy it...
  13. can someone find me a few grand please...
  14. why not mill it, it makes excellent lumber... Monterey Cypress | The Wood Database - Lumber Identification (Softwoods)
  15. they did fairly well for 250 milion years...
  16. should we???
  17. no surprise there that robinia tops the list. again, another underrated timber in my opinion...
  18. try this link. Sculpture Timber Durability
  19. pva would be fine. give it a few coats. get it off the ground and keep it dry and sheltered from too much wind. i'd happily take some but unless you are driving near J7 M4 then i can't. i don't drive. get some pictures up so we can see what you got.
  20. i hope you've sealed the ends...
  21. "like, dude, i can't believe you think i look like him. oh no, cops. bye..." he is called, Albert Knickerbocker Aloysius Snake. usually just "snake". lawsons is another greatly underrated timber in my opinion and i think it a shame that no one comercial wishes to mill it. yes i do have that book and it is an interesting read for all pub games...
  22. no problem mate, the guy who runs it is a nice chap in the states and i helped him out a few years ago by sending him a box of about 80+ samples of natives and exotics that they just don't get in the states. he's got a list of what i donated here, About the Project | The Wood Database i'm Steve by the way.
  23. i would put it in the speciality camp along with things like laburnum, whitebeam, sumac, laurel and anything else that is usually too small to be milled. best guess, £50ft3 for seasoned stock.
  24. in my opinion it is a vastly underrated timber and sadly everyone just wants to cut it up when they fell one. Leyland Cypress | The Wood Database - Lumber Identification (Softwoods)
  25. tending my hurt thumb which i nearly ripped the nail off of. only a flesh wound though. back to work...
