  1. It's the other way around. The improved loop should have a grey plastic part in the clamp. Although you did have me doubting myself so I checked out the husky warranty letter. Mr B is right about the flip caps, the flip caps that fit the 540 are the small type as supplied on the oil tank of the new 550's
  2. They are indeed a complete wastefof planetary resources. You have to hold you thumb, or chosen body part over the hole in the re end cap Even then most of them still don't work!. Why husky bother I just don't know..
  3. I agree with the above in regards to the zigzag being the 'norm' in the very near future. It does have its faults as every bit of kit does, my 'fault' being that it needs to work better with 13mm rope. This only goes for the original ZZ as I havent tried the new one, but the difference between a 11.5mm rope and a 13mm rope is quite unbelievable. I prefer to climb on 13mm hence my 'fault' with the original ZZ. Although I would choose the ZZ with a 11.5mm any day of the week. Scotspine1, try it, I bet you will like it mate.
  4. MS200T 046 066 The current setup up has changed a bit but the above is a combo that can get a serious amount of work done with an unsurpassed reliability rate. ATM it is T540XP 560XP 066 You can never knock a 066.
  5. Pm's and emails all received and put on the list. In regards to returning the original zigzag, the official response is that there is no deadline as its PPE so it won't be a problem. If anyone needs details on how to return the zigzag give me a shout and I'll point you the right direction.
  6. SJH added. In regards to what's involved with a pre-order. All I need are some contact details so when the price and availabilityare e confirmed I can contact you, see if you still want the item, take payment(only when it is in stock and ready to go) and dispatch. If there is a shortage as there was last time then it will be on a first come first serve basis. I will give people 5 working days to confirm if they want the zigzag and pay for it, if they don't it will be passed onto the next person on the list, unless they have pre paid then it will be kept back for them etc. Hopefully that is quite a fair way to do things.
  7. Ed and Josh I'll put you names down on the pre-order list. I will have to see what the deal is with late zigzag returns, as I don't remember there being a cut off deadline.
  8. Ive not worked on a 281 but I have a IPL of the fuel line which looks like it doesnt have a moulded grommet.
  9. OK not yet available and still waiting on a price but at least its been officially announced by Petzl! petzl zigzag There is also a link to the changes over the 2013 version. Its worth getting one pre ordered, if not with us contact your local supplier as we are still getting emails from people wanting to be put on the waiting list and as far as I can remember everyone who returned their old zigzag(not all did! ) asked to get on the list.
  10. I hope you don't mind me highlighting this bit Ian but I'm just going to try and clarify a few things. Although you are correct in saying the discount is the same wether we buy 1 or 10 machines the amount of discount is not the same for every dealer. Not all main dealers are on the same discount level. Also not every dealer is a main dealer, a lot are subdealers (like us) who purchase through main dealers. So, if your local dealer is a stub dealer and he isn't getting the best of rates from his supplier then there is not much chance he can price match the lowest out there. If I sold saws at prices I have seen I would end up with £10 on a £500 saw and that's with us getting a very good discount from our suppliers! If I took the discount offered to us from the first supplier we contracted there would be £0 left. The margins are just so tight. Btw this isn't a whinge at all, this is the business we are in, it's just maybe with bearingthe above in mind when asking to price match.
  11. Excellent, good to see you got it in time, Fedex probably need to take a bit of credit too.
  12. If you can post a pic of the chain and bar. Banana cutting is usually chain related imo.
  13. Ours is running a 20" 3/8 Full chisel and although I meant to run the A/T as per the manual we didnt and just used it flat out from the word go. Runs great and does exactly what we want. Never had any probs starting from running out of fuel, fuel up, pump primer and start as hot fires more or less first pull. It allowed me to put a 30" on the 046:001_smile:
  14. Husky do list a 36" .404 bar available for the 390! I think the .404 is a bit big though tbh otherwise its a 3/8 28" unless you buy an oregon bar.
  15. Got some stock of the small flippy caps in today. Most have been reserved but whats available is on the web site inventory. The next batch arent due in until the 11th of Nov.
  16. A bit of a heads up in regards to the chainsaw strop attachment loop. We have been issued with new improved loops by Husqvarna due to a small minority failing. It has been mentioned in a few threads so quite a few of you are probably aware of it. So, if you have a 540 give the dealer you purchased the saw from a call to either arrange to have it fitted or posted out to you.Not everyone wants to leave their contact details so it can be hard to chase people up. The new part has a grey plastic bit as opposed to the original black plastic bit or TPU to give it its correct technical name!
  17. You probably have it sorted now but here is the pic I mentioned although a bit of a poor one!
  18. The part number is 544 80 76-01 and the price is £10.36+ VAT
  19. Husky site list the ring for the 50cc, the old part number has been superceeded but I cant get prices or stock levels due to time of night(it stops working after about 22:00)
  20. That's the one. It's a 3/8 low profile as fitted to most top handle saws. I'll try and get a pic up of all the info as 2 stroke ady says it's all on the back of a husky chain box.
  21. Will do. False teeth and walking sticks! Yep the large caps will fit the 135/140, they also fit the 236 so my bad for messing that one up! I reckon im too old to pimp up my car but I reckon I can get away with a little bling on the saws!
  22. Right yes I should have said those saws will use the larger cap which is in stock and available now its just the small ones not in stock yet.Husqvarna Fuel and Oil Flip Tank Cap The reason I couldnt get the part numbers as I was on the ipad and the missus had the PC. They are if anyone needs them are Small cap 577 87 86-01 Large cap 522 62 00-01 What I meant by asking local dealer was just because they arent available yet so if you frequented there it might be worth getting him to get some in stock but I do appreciate you buying from us though:thumbup1: as you say its a lot more convenient especially when there are jobs to price up and quotes/invoices to type up after the cutting has been done! The problem with trying to cross match them is that there is loads of different styles of cap that will physically fit but just look different, and Husky only specify what cap comes with what saw. If that makes any sense.
  23. Well I suppose its because its tool less, if Stihl had made tool less caps for the 046, 066 etc I would have well bought some. But mainly its because as Mark said they look better. When you've got a saw as nice looking as a 550XP the old cap looks garbage, they wouldn't look out of place on Fred Flintstones car. I mean only old people wouldn't understand a bit of bling.
  24. There are two sizes of flip cap that I know about which should cover most of the old and new range. There are a few odd ball ones like the 236 which is a different type of thread. As a very rough guide anything over 50cc should take the large size caps, 50cc and under will be a mix of small and large. Although I will be happy to be proved wrong if anyone can help out as I dont have access to that many older husky saws. Officially Husky list the new small flip caps for the 550XP and 545 only. I dont have the part numbers with me atm but if your looking to buy from your local dealer etc husky have just updated the IPL for the 550XP which has all the new info on.
  25. Always been a massive problem when working over footpaths. People just push themselves and prams and young kids through, over, under, tape, cones and barriers because they walk that route everyday! We just never rely on joe public to actually stop and walk around or stop and wait for assistance and always have to look out for them. Have had a few people complain that they are getting covered in sawdust while standing by the drop zone after pushing some cones out of the way to get there! I do wonder how many utilities lads turn around to find pedestrians blocking up their trenches
